I'm going to be spending a week up in the Alpine Loop / American Basin / Lake City area next month and wanted to get a feel for the OC climiate up there. I just picked up a Serpa II to use for the trip, and am excited about the opportunity, but was just looking for some input from people who have carried in the area. I guess I am mainly concerned about when we spend time in Lake City. I know to watch for posted signs before entering business, etc. Thanks for anything info you can provide.

Okay, how about ammo? Any restrictions on what can be used?

Lake City is a tiny place. Most small towns in Colorado don't have a police force -- the County Sheriff is the law. In general, Sheriff's offices seem to be OK with open carry, especially the rural ones.

There are no ammo restrictions in Colorado.

http://www.rmgo.org/ (Rocky Mountain Gunowners' Assn) is a good reference for Colorado law.

In short, I wouldn't hesitate to carry when you're here.
