Three Authors on Opposing Sides of the Gun Control Debate

    Is the Second Amendment being misinterpreted? Do gun rights groups harm the very freedoms they intend to protect? Or is the right to armed rebellion against a tyrannical government part of the very fabric of America 's history? Three distinguished authors will discuss and debate the issue at a special event June 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Noah Webster Library, 20 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT 06107 | TEL: 860-561-6950.  http://www.westhartfordlibrary.org/ ;

    Robert H. Churchill is the author of "To Shake Their Guns in the Tyrant's Face: Libertarian Political Violence and the Origins of the Militia Movement." An historian of early America , Churchill has published numerous articles on the American Revolution and American political violence. He is currently Associate Professor of History at the University of Hartford .

    Joshua Horwitz and Casey Anderson are the authors of "Guns, Democracy, and the Insurrectionist Idea." Horwitz, the executive director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, received a law degree from George Washington University and is currently a visiting scholar at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Anderson holds a law degree from Georgetown University and is currently a lawyer in private practice in Washington , D.C.

    Both books, published by the University of Michigan Press , will be available for sale at this event.

    This library-partnered program will be presented by the authors.  It is open to the public, no reservations are needed. Park in the Isham Garage and bring your parking ticket to a library circulation desk for validation.

I viewed the Library's website and could find no prohibition on weapons.  I also couldn't find any local ordinances prohibiting firearms in Town buildings.

I was there tonight! :)
CSPAN was filming the event.

Still need to fully process what was said.
- I never got American History in school, so I am playing catch-up as I go along.

BTW:
I was sitting front Left and posed the question to Mr. Churchill about the meaning of  the word "Regulated"... then & now.

Met a couple a nice folks and chatted for about an hour after it was over.
