|
On the Agenda tomm for the Public Safety and Security Committee is "AAC Regulations of Firearms". I am sure Bills will be introduced soon. My Rep (Karen Jarmoc - Enfield) is on this committee and I will be emailing her shortly. It does not hurt to get some emails going to these members.

Suggestions:
It would be wise for the State Legislature to hold off on any legislation regarding the purchase, possession or carrying of firearms until the United State Supreme Court rules on the Chicago Case involving INCORPORATION of the Second Amendment to the states.
They would also be wise to wait until the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York renders a decision in the appeals of Kuck and Goldberg which directly address certain laws, policies and practices involving firearms and permits in Connecticut.
The decisions that are expected have the potential to turn all current firearm laws upside down.
Anyone making contact with members of the State Legislature should bring these very important Federal cases to the attention of every committee hearing testimony on proposed legislation in the 2010 session.
I would hope that everyone involved in the firearm issues being discussed by the legislature would be on the same page in these matters.

I fully agree Ed. Just got this back from Karen.
We had our first Public Safety meeting this morning to raise bills. I did not see any bills on the list that may infringe upon your rights, but I will certainly keep an eye on this.

I'm not sure of Representative Jarmoc's stance on firearms (ETA: NRA-VPF rates her a C), but the CCDL will be inquiring from a member of the committee who is behind us 100% what was brought up during the meeting.
We'll keep you posted if we hear any different from bucketdude.

Alright, Ya..I don't know her full record. I know she voted against the "lost or stolen" firearms bill 2-3 years ago. I am not sure any other gun control bill has come up for a full vote in the last 4-5 years in the CT Legislature...
I also moved here recently from Windsor, where Peggy Sayers was my Rep. I can tell you she would be fully behind the CCDL(A from NRA) and is also on this commitee. I am still in contact with her as well. She Represents Northern Windsor/Windsor Locks.

I wouldn't want people to think this particular representative is "in our pockets". She is on the side of freedom and constitutional principles which as it turns out is what the CCDL is all about. We have a common goal and we will do anything we can to support her! I'm sure she will be a good source of information about what is going on in the state house when we contact her.

The bills were raised by a voice vote and discussion on them, I suppose, will begin Feb. 11th. The meeting was adjourned before any discussion began. An Act Concerning the Regulation of Firearms is 8th on the list.

i emailed the rep from waterbury on the list, i frequent his restaurant, here is his reply. my rep for the town i live is not on the commitee, but i am certain i know where he stands on the issues. we have had many email exchanges prior.

Rumor has it DPS has only brought up long gun registration. They're looking to eliminate anonymous private sales of long guns and have them treated exactly like handguns. The legislation probably looks like this.
There was no mention of forced concealed carry with mandatory jail time for printing.
