Dave, what are you freaking out about? Nobody published any private info here. As for your website, that's hardly private info.

Before you jump to too many conclusions and say something that you may later regret, please don't forget that this forum allows posters to edit their posts well after they have been made.  What you see right now is not what was the cause for concern at an earlier time.

(One clue to look for in this regard is "Edit" times that are hours or even days after the original post was made, a tell-tale sign that content was adjusted at a later time.)

Dave did have legitimate concerns based on what was posted earlier, but it has all been cleaned up now.

I'm not likely to regret anything I said here, because I have no stake in this.

At any rate, there was only a single post that was edited before Dave's post, so it seemed unlikely that Dave was referring to an edited post. Guess I was wrong.

Also, there's privacy, and then there's public sight. Which category do you suppose a website falls under?

There was concern for my "privacy" in that it seemed like many people were trying to figure out a way to contact me, and posted my website URL here. Not that a webpage is private... But to make it easily accessed (and found) in this particular thread scared me a little. Anyone (including a friend of the robbers) could have easily learned my full name, phone number (and by that my address), and saw what I looked like (photo).

I'm sure if something like this happened to you, you'd be a little worried about too much of your info being easily accessible in one thread... and you'd prefer to err on the side of caution.

I understand your concern, but as Boston T Party says, privacy is something you establish and hope you never need, not something you can achieve once you need it. ;)

I know dave personally, he is one of few on this site who did what was right and doesn't need to broadcast his personal info to all of us. We ( meaning members here and at Deloc ) want Dave to go through this tough time with the least amount of pain after all he is the victim. if you want to communicate send him a PM  enough already!!

this thread should be the top thread on this bloody site, instead of some of the brain dead topics and repeat topic's that are posted here

back off and show some support

So... the cops hold the 'victim's gun as evidence?  What?  You get jacked on the street bu a pair of thugs... shoot in self defense.  'Admit you shot in self defense.... What do they need the gun for?

The comments were... for the most part, 'lame'.  All these comparisons to the 'Wild West' especially.  I live in the old 'Wild West'... 'n it's a damn site safer than back east among the nanny state sheeple. Self defense is a 'given' here at least. Some of those commentors wouldn't defend themselves if they had to.

'Hope ya get yer pistol back... SOON!  Good luck with the weenie whiners.

I got a return call from my lawyer's secretary earlier this morning.

She said "It's good news, and Mr. ------ sent you a letter yesterday. You should receive it either today or tomorrow."

So, I guess none of the charges could/would stick!!!

Whoo hoo! :celebrate

I'll post the letter's contents later.

This has been such a heavy burden on my mind for the past 2+ months. But the weight hs been lifted! I'm so happy!!!

Presume that you already know the high points of the letter from the tone of your posting.

Congratulations - hope your life can get back to normal soon!

Great news, Dave. Hopefully, you will be able to share the details of how LE handled this event in the near future.

I got the letter on Saturday. Here's what it said (bold is mine):

---- -----
Attorney At Law
---------
Wilmington, DE 19801

February 5, 2009

Mr. ----- ------
---- ------- ----
---- ----, DE

Dear Mr. -------:

This is the "official" word. I spoke with the prosecutor who has reviewed the matter, on February 4th, and he informs me that you are a "witness" only.

His name is ---- ------ and, at some point, he will probably be contacting you as a witness. I have told him he can feel free to contact you directly since you are not on the "hot seat".

If this matter is to go to trial, I suggest that you call me a couple of days before trial, so I can inform you what to anticipate as part of cross-examination.

Enclosed you will find the final billing in this matter.

Sincerely,

----- ------

Wow. I'm a witness? This might go to trial?

At least no charges were (or could be) filed against me.
