Transporting handguns through DC

Is transportation of handguns allowed in DC? Can i pass through DC with my handgun in the trunk with ammo seperate if i wanted to go from va to dc to md?

Federal law allows you to do that as long as you do not stop in DC and the weapon is legal in the state of your destination.

You'ld be better off to take the 495 loop around and avoid DC altogether.  It's probably quicker anyhow.

I was at the National Harbor the other day and i forgot my range bag was in the car and wanted to take the scenic route home through DC. Just wanted to know the legality of the situation.
