When: August 23rd
Time: 9:30am-11:30am Lunch to follow
Where: Chinden Rd in Garden City, ID Exact location to be announced.
It's time to capitalize on all of this attention and show everyone that we not only care about our guns, but our communities as well! We'll meet between 9-9:30am and clean up the trash; beer bottles, fast food sandwich wrappers, rusty cans, and anything else that doesn't belong.
Chinden Rd in Garden City is a central location and close for most people to travel to. There is a lot of traffic and we'll have quite a bit of folks see us working.
We'll go to lunch afterwards for a well deserved snack and break from the heat. We need everyone involved that is available...bring your friends, family and anyone else who is interested in helping out, gun or no gun. Children, as always, are not only welcome but encouraged to join us and learn responsibility for their communities.
If anyone is willing to do interviews, please PM me and I'll contact you with some more information.
Memebers on other gun rights forums should be notified; those who are members of multiple forums, please post this over there.
Let's make this great folks!!!

Stiky done!
And make sure all your members watch the Nighline video of the VCDL.org picnic - key point is note how everybody is so relaxed and friendly - your gun speaks very loud when you OC - no need to raise your voice, appear angry or intense - keep the gun rights banter to a MINIMUM - I know it sounds counter-intuitive - but consider it - even when reporters ask you direct gun rights questions, and easy does it answer is the way to go.

Ok excellent. Glad to see we have another event coming up.
I will attempt to make it but I may be out of town one again as I have Police academy entrance exams in Seattle that weekend. But if I am still here I will be there.
In the meantime, let's make sure this notice gets out to anyone who is interested in gun rights. 20 - 30 OCers picking up trash is going to be great for the media. I'll get in touch with some of my political contacts and see if anyone there is interested in coming out and showing support.

If we are in town, we will do it again.
If they stick a camera in your face - speak in sound bites. Long well thought out answeres don't get reported. I think it has to do with attention span of the viewers.
We had a great time, our intention was to never grab the limelight. But I always feel you should be ready to give a defense for what you believe.
What ever spot you choose look at the background. What will it look like on camera, green and peaceful, not run down and junky. A place were people normally walk thru and enjoy would be good. Maybe a bike path or dog run, then people might know where we cleaned when they use the area next time they enjoy the same spot.

Agreed! But it's when most people are off work, it's not too hot in the day yet, and leaves people free to make other plans.

Definately something to think about. I looked it up on the map and it doesn't appear to be too far away. Would someone be willing to write a letter to the City Council of Greenleaf, introduce our group, tell them we want to clean up a certain area or do some kind of other service for the city. Ask them what needs to be done basically. It would be nice to have the legitamcy of a CITY asking us to be there.

Do post your letter for review before you send it. We'd all be glad to give you our input. You guys have caught several things for me for my letters and conversations with management.

Problem I have with Greenleaf is that they are already a gun friendly town. Seems kinda pointless to have an Open Carry service project there. There is also smaller population meaning less exposure.
Personally I think greenbelt trash pickup (or something in Boise) would be better served as it is in Boise and many more people would be around to see people doing service and open carrying.
The primary point is exposure, secondary being what we would be doing for the service itself.

Boise might be a good area to do thes in - apparently the entire world knows where Boise is now
You could call yourselves, "The Boise Bunch."
You know - opposing the "Brady Bunch."

I agree that it should stay in Boise. Make it easy for the media to show up.
Pick up along the foothill trails, someplace well know, gets a lot of public use and people that use it will remember we came thru the area.
