March 11th is Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day (IGOLD) 2009 in Springfeild. This is your chance as a firearm owner to tell your reps how you feel along with a few thousand other firearm freedom supporters.
Last year around 2500 showed up and it would be nice to double that this year. So bring yourself, other gun owners, and people who just support our cause down to the state capitol!
Anyone interested in can get more info at http://www.igold.isra.org. So please everyone, request this day off of work and show your support for freedom and the Second Amendment. If we (the people on this board) dont do it, then who will?

Now that we have a new governor and there is a renewed push for concealed (maybe even LTC which would technically inclued open carry) carry in the state capitol, it is more important than ever to go to IGOLD and write your reps!
Be in the state capitol March 11th!

Congrats everyone who attended. Attendance was placed at over 5,100 based on number of legislative packets handed out to the attendees. this did not include many late arrivals that did not get packets.
Look forward to marching with 10,000 next year!

Is the seating capacity of the Prarie State Convention Center where we met and had the reception last evening 10,000+? It would be something to have it filled to capacity. Then reporting like some NPR station did, saying a couple hundred people showed up would be clearly shown to be a left wing lie!
I'd be interested in hearing the number of folks from the Chicago area who attended. We definately need plenty of them to come to influence legislators in the northeast corner of the state.
BTW, IGOLD next year will be on March 10, so everyone has almost a year of advance warning.
Here in Southern Illinois the Southern Illinoisan newspaper did a favorable article about attendance at IGOLD and LTC legislation.
It was rumored that four bus -loads of Chicago anti-gun protestors were coming, we never saw them. Maybe they heard it was going to be in the 40's yesterday, or maybe they knew their turnout would be pitiful compared to ours.

Maybe the busses wouldn't accept foodstamps?
