Just joined the forums today and also just applied for my Lifetime carry also...  They told me 3-6 months.  Hope it turns out to be only 44 days though ha...  Ready to start practicing my right to carry my Glock 30 without worries.

I applied for mine 20 Jan 2009, and received it 20 Mar 2009.  I just went for the 4 year this time, because I'm a native Kalifornian and didn't believe that they would issue it.  I've done nothing that would disqualify me for having one, but it was just so far out of the realm of my experience that I couldn't fathom being allowed to carry a handgun in public.  I bought (and fell in love with)  a Makarov IJ70-18A for daily carry.  I'm totally amazed every time I walk around in public in Greenfield that nobody even gives me a second glance!!!

Wow. Some of these lag times make me wonder if they don't "queue them up". I applied for lifetime (...I don't know why anyone would not apply for the lifetime...) on March 6th and got mine in the mail April 25th.

I have a theory that if you have purchased any guns from a dealer within the last couple years and the FBI has done a recent background check, it may actually cut down on the time.

I have a friend that applied a week and two days after I did and it took them a full two weeks longer, but, he hadn't purchased a gun, ever.

Its just a theory.

When I called to check on mine 6 weeks in, they told me they wouldn't even START the process until after the 8 week mark due to backlog.  I still got mine in almost exactly 8 weeks though.

Congrats, and welcome to OCDO!

We can be an ornery and cantankerous bunch, but at the end of the day, these are good people to have watching your back.

I just moved to Indiana. I went to the Lake County courthouse on July17th. I received my "Pink Slip" on 8/5. It was only 2weeks - they told me 10 to 12. I was shocked. I may have been due to me purchasing two handguns recently when I lived in Illinois. The background was out there.
