St. Joseph County Gun Buyback Protest

I will be out protesting the St. Joseph County Gun Buy Backs again this year. Looking for anyone that would be interested in doing the same.

June 13, from 10 am – 3pm at three locations:

* Mishawaka – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 616 Lincoln Way East
* South Bend – No. 2 Fire Station, corner of Lincoln Way West and Martin Luther King Blvd.
* St. Joseph County – Penn Twp Fire Station #2, 13750 McKinley Highway, Mishawaka

The reasons why I go out and protest gun buy backs:

    * The no questions asked policy which allows criminals to turn in firearms without any fear of being prosecuted.
    * They take advantage of people who do not know the value of the firearms they are turning in.
    * Just publicity for the anti-gun government. Makes people feel good like their doing something. (has no effect on crime)
    * Police officers are paid overtime to attend the gun buyback, and in this tight economy, they should be out on the streets.

I think you forgot one very good reason not to have these! Criminal are tempted to steal more guns just so they can turn them in for the "goverment" cash with NO fear of getting caught for the "re-sell"!:what: please correct me if I'm wrong!

These events are evil.  They are conditioning for the day when the confiscation is no longer voluntary.

That being said, I have added to my gun collection at one of these evil events in Virginia.  I called it a gun rescue event.

GR: Who's doing the 'buying' and do they have an FFL to conduct firearms transactions?

Hey! I'll come carry my sign! It says:

BETTER PRICES HERE
     |
     |
     V

:D

And I ain't foolin.

...or is there some kind of Indiana Code prohibiting that?

My opinion of these events is that some people find guns and they just grab them and go get rid of them irrespective of their value or meaning to anyone else. They treat them like $ bills and sell them for 5c on the dollar.

Better us do that than have the "authorities" get them and destroy them. Anyone else interested? As far as needing an FFL, in Indiana, you do not need an FFL unless you are SELLING and can be classified as a dealer. (Someone correct me, please.) Private sales, even multiple ones, are completely legal.

Only morons participate in these things. They are for people that are experiencially and philosophically ignorant about guns, self defense and crime. Law enforcement should know better. It makes them look foolish and statist to the rest of us that are even slightly enlightened.

Here are the three locations. If you don't see me carrying a sign, I'll probably be taking pictures and scoping things out.

:P

Will have a copy of "Blue Book Gun Values" that I picked up today from the library. In case anyone wants to know the approximate value of what they're turning in.

Is there anyone out there planning on joining me in the protest?

It would also be helpful if you have any suggestions for the protest signs.

When I hear of one of these things near me I go to the local FFL and buy junk he always has for sale for parts. They usually go for $5. Then I take them to the buy back and sell them. I usually make enough to buy a new gun. I have to stand in line a while, but it's usually not too long.

How much do they give you for each junk gun?

$25 in a certificate for a local save-a-lot. In my experience they have learned that gun owners sometimes turn in their broken firearms to use the money to purchase ammunition or other firearms. Most of all of them now never give out cash instead give out gift certificates from businesses that were pressured in to giving them to them.

Previous gun buybacks, I have purchased some firearms, and as long as you are comfortable with the person you are buying them from, there is not a problem, because it is a private sale.

One firearm that I purchased I will be using to turn in at this gun buyback. So that I will have grounds to file another federal lawsuit against the officials endorsing this buyback.

BUYBACKS: GUN THEFT AMNESTY
TAX MONEY FOR STOLEN PROPERTY

I would appreciate your support in attending the gun buyback with me in South Bend Indiana tomorrow June 13, 10AM-3PM. Don't let this be a one-man protest let's make a stand on our beliefs about gun buybacks.

The media always shows up in the morning and just before it ends so if you can only attend for short time please make a point of being there when the media is there.

If we have a big enough turnout we may ask others to attend one of the other two locations.

I will have a limited amount of gifts to hand out to participants who helped me out the entire day if that would help in a motivating factor.

Bring your own sign!

Example:
"Gun Buyback Programs Actually Benefit Criminals"
"Gun Buybacks Make You Feel Like Government Is Fighting Crime"
"Criminal Amnesty Program - ENTER HERE"
"No guns, no rights"
"Give away your guns, give away your safety"
"Powerlessness is a terrible feeling"
"Protect yourself, protect your guns"
"Don't be a statistic, Keep your 2nd Amendment rights""Support You're Local Criminals, Turn in Your Gun"
"Turn in a criminal, not your gun"

I believe that governmental/police/community/church/anti gun buybacks are feel good activity that ties up some of the energy expenditure of the anti-gun conglomerate. They are not significantly effective and they do not hurt my gun owning or carrying rights in any way.

These buybacks, therefore, are desirable, since they use up enemy resources.

Therefore, they don't bother me one bit. With the possible exception that some very nice S&W revolvers probably end up going into the box. Gawd, I hate when that happens. :(

As long as the stolen guns bought back get sent back to their proper owners, I am FOR these kinds of gun buybacks.

Just completed three and in-person interviews and two over the phone with local media about gun buyback. We will have plenty of media attention if you come and help in the protest.

They actually came and interviewed me before they went to the press conference about the gun buyback. I believe they will be asking some questions I was asking.
