Afternoon all.
4 more days and my 90 days are up. I had 3 neighbors put their app. in 1 week before me and the last one got his CCW 4 1/2 weeks ago. I called the Sheriff's office and they haven't received anything yet. Is this normal?
I was told by the Sheriff's that the more places I have lived in my 62 years the longer it might take..

| Jump on the Kentucky State Police website. There is a tab for concealed carry and a number to call in Frankfort. Also, email he Governor and ask if he is trying to restrict CCDW. It took a long time on my renewal, I emailed the Gov's office, someone called the next day and two days later the Sheriff called to let me know my renewal was in. Don't know if the email helped, but, made me feel better.

| On a side note, we took our CC class Sunday and received the certificates today, Friday. He said it would take a month.

I can't believe what I'm reading here! It really takes so long to get your certificate of training back? That is a bunch of non-sense!
I give my students their certificates on the same day they complete the class. I am certified in all 50 states. Sounds like a vacation to KY could prove beneficial for me as well as those wanting to get CC classes done.

That's not how it is done here in KY, sorry.
Here's the process, from the horse's mouth:

Oh, and if you're not a Kentucky resident, you are not a Certified Instructor here.
One MUST be a KY CCDW permit holder in order to teach the CCDW class. In order to get the permit, you have to be a bona fide resident.

Wow. It is a little different than here in MI. Where is the information on having to be licensed in KY to teach the class?
My understanding when I received the certification was that it was good in all 50 states. If not, I am not happy about being lied to. LOL

Yes, you were lied to.

So tell us about this so-called "50 state program" you're certified through. LOL.

| Hmmmm. This is good info. I will be contacting the NRA Training Counselor who conducted my Instructor Training class and suppling him with this information. He told me that all 50 states recognized the NRA certification that I received by attending his course. I am contemplating contacting the NRA concerning this false information as well.

I think your NRA certification IS good in all 50 states, but only for giving firearms instruction in NRA programs. I beleive here in Tn you would need to be certified by the state as well in order to teach the manditory Handgun Safety Course needed for HCP application.
Looking into getting instructor certification , myself.

+1
Yes, NRA certification is good everywhere, just not enough for CCDW permit in most places.
