How did the red turn out, does it show up well?

I thought about the .357 sig but the xdm doesnt come in sig, also not having one I wasn't able to bucket shoot it. The material I have read says the .40 and .357 sig are relatively the same in terms of energy and penetration. If I ever get my hands on one I am dying to do the paper/bucket test. Also .40 being so popular the rounds are easier to get , however if I get to bucket shoot one and it (.357 sig)  is half as impressive as the .40 I'll get one. Ammo shortage or not.

The Red looked pretty good, but it's Red on a Chrome slide so it doesn't exactly fit. However I got a Walther P22 that's all black, I'm thinking of doing it in Neon Yellow/Green. :D

I like the .357 Sig round too, but Dan have you ever shot the 10mm in the bucket ? it's got some pretty good punch too and is relatively the same diameter as the .40 S&W

I prefer 9mm, though I've had some nice .45s in the past.

I had a 9mm Ruger P95 that I loved but decided to upgrade about a year ago and after test firing a few guns I went with the Taurus 24/7 Pro .40 cal. I absolutely love my Taurus and am now looking towards getting one of the Taurus PT-1911 .45's.

I prefer .45 and 9mm.   I have a Taurus 24/7 OSS .45 - it holds 12+1.  Love it.

I still carry an old G17.  Installed the NY trigger about ten years ago, everything else is original and, as of yesterday, still shoots fine.  Current ammo is Hornady 147gr. TAP FPD.

I have the XDM40 also. I'll OC it at lunch if I can find some spraypaint, 'cause it's all black. :)

Yes, I shot a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm for the bucket test. I only had 2 different loads so it wasn't a complete test but the 10mm penetrated about 3 inches farther than the .40 but mushroomed poorly also the shock pattern left in the paper was not as pronounced (not raised up nearly As high) also the .40  had more shock waves , 5 at slug stopping point. If I remember correctly the 10mm had 3.

It seems to me after the test results the 10mm basically went in farther but acted much like a FMJ, poor expansion and over penetration with little shock transference. Remember when fired the paper rises in waves and stays there so as you remove the layers of paper you can actually see the progression of size and strength of shock transferal.  The 10mm did do better than many of the .40 in heavier loads though. The 180 grain in .40 is a real pig.

My tests I promise were unbias as I have SEVERAL handguns in SEVERAL cal. and wanted to see which one (gun and load) I was willing to bet my life on. The test weapon for .40 wasn't even mine, at that time I didn't own a .40 cal. I thought going into the test the .45 colt or my S&W .357 would come out on top. It wasn't until after the test I got my XDM.

If they had a cor-bon pow'r ball for 10mm I am sure it would out preform the .40 cal, Which I'm sure they do I just didn't have one for the test.

As a matter of fact, no matter what cal. the Pow'r ball ALLWAYS out preformed EVERY OTHER LOAD for each cal. Those things are amazing. Also they ALLWAYS MUSHROOM, I have shot them through all sorts of medium in front or the paper and never a failure to expand, BIG. They are loaded hot too so penetration was allways impressive.

Hey by the way guys I don't think I was clear , you turn the bucket on it's side, duct tape the clothes over the open end and shoot into the bucket. DO NOT shoot through side of bucket. (ruins bucket and negates bullet through 2 layers of cloths and into body test)

Sent my wife to a couple of the ammo houses I haunt to pick up some of the new Hornady critical defence ammo and some 10mm Pow'rball. I'm gonna put them to the bucket when I get home. I'll post pics of the slugs and wound channels for you guys.

The hornady critical defence looks like a knock off of the pow'r ball to me but pow'rball doesn't come in .38 (what my wife carries) and I want her to have the best defence ammo they make (becouse of the lowly .38 of hers)  So if it has similar effects as the powerball I'll switch her carry load from the Hydra Shock (by far the best load in .38 during the bucket test) to the Hornady.

like I said I'll post pics and results, offshore right now but will be home around 2nd so it'll be after that.
