NO.
You might be able to if the FFL is willing to send it to a FFL in your home state and have a transfer done, but you certainly couldn't walk into a shop, buy it and walk out with it.

Wait, does that mean if you're not a Maine resident, you can't purchase a weapon in Maine at all?

No it doesn't.
You can buy long guns, such as rifles and shotguns, but no pistols.
I believe that is Federal Law.
Edited for spelling. Damn Kentucky education.

It works at one store in Southern Maine. If you are a NH resident, the gun is DELIVERED to you in NH. The same day.
It is a great arrangement.

Why would you buy a firearm in Maine and pay the tax on it if you're a NH resident and don't pay sales taxes in your state? Surely it would be better to buy it in NH as a Maine resident and ship it back to Maine to avoid the tax? (unless the FFL transfer is more than the tax).

If I recall, no sales tax.

As a NH resident, I bought a pistol from a place in Southern-Maine.
They rent a small one-room building just over the NH border.
They run the NICS check in ME, then drive the firearm to NH to finalize the transaction.
No sales tax, since it's technically purchased in NH.
They will do it for any handgun, and will also do it for a long-gun, if it's over $300.
