Exactly backwards. Gun laws are very strict so the crime rate is high.

I live in the South, and, in many ways, Massachusetts is far more "American" than here.

I've learned that everyone wants to control others, so the variety of control differs, by region. If you advocate the absence of control, regardless of region, you will be vilified and despised. People hate other people, and they use the government as muscle to hurt others.

The sad reality is that America isn't "American," and hasn't been, for a very long time. We're far from the freest country on earth.
