Was in Canton last night for some errands. Was going to OC in target but a friend was with us that works for one of them and asked me not to cause he might get in trouble. I don't see how me OCing could get him in trouble, but I respected his wish and CCed.
After that, went to Garder White and OCed while looking at King size beds. No issues there other than my credit application coming up as a fraud alert! Must have been a sign not to buy furniture from Garder White.
After that OCed at Ikea. No issues there either.
Took our dogs to Freedom Park in Canton for a little walk. No issues again. A very uneventful night

Yesterday in St Ignace BK. Woman asked "is that aaaa knife? I said, no, its a firearm. "You a cop"? No, just a regular citizen. A law abiding citizen. "Oh I just wondered, 'cus there is an accident out there in the road" I said they probably wouldn't want me out there anyway, I'd just be in the way. She laughed.springerdave.

Well, just had my first OC "negative" response, probably will not be the last either.
I am OC'ing while doing work around the house today. I walked out the back door to go to the garage and my next door neighbor saw me, eyes got big, and she pulled her daughter and herself back into the house. I could tell she was very frightened at the whole idea of MWG right next door. I felt bad for her as I do not want anyone to get that scared as if to "run for cover". I know I cannot control anyone's reaction to OC either.
I talked with both her boyfriend and teen-age son while they were out in the back yard. Her boyfriend and I talk about guns at times and just have not gotten out the the range yet. He thought it was cool and did not know OC was legal (he especially liked my S&W M&P 9 and Fobus Paddle Holster). Her son was curious, but catious, and ended up laughing about some things by the end of the conversation.
I hope I can talk with her about it so she understands that I am no threat to anyone, other than someone who would come to harm me or others around me.

OCed on the bike to Paw Paw and then OCed at Ace Hardware, Copper Grill, and Tractor supply. No problems ... did have a discussion with a lady at Tractor supply she said she was glad people were exercising their rights. She said her hubby told her about OC he is a semi retired sherrifs deputy in VB county and a member of the Sherrifs posse

I open carried on my mountain bike today. Did about 30 miles, went all around southern oakland county. No problems. I keep fathoming the idea of an OCing group bike ride.
Also got a new voice recorder today. Just the cheapest one I can find, but my hideout video camera has been acting finicky, and my analog tape recorder has a lot of obvious downsides, so I had to get one. I haven't figured it out yet, but it fits inside a .45 magazine pouch, and I believe can be set to record voices as they happen, so I can leave it running all day and only have an hour or 2 recorded on it. Definitely an advantage, because that way I won't risk getting shot by some Gomer Pile cop if I go reach for it. And at the end of the day I can simply erase all that's recorded on it unless something bad happens.

Or you could just continue your usual routine of talking amicably with her boyfriend and son, and she should realize quickly what a dork she is being.

Gun phobia can happen for a lot of reasons, and usually is fairly easy to fix, but I suspect she might have a really bad case of it judging by her extreme and very rare reaction. The worst gun fear cases are just as bad as a fear of flying or spiders. It can be a really hard thing to break someone free of.

I talked with her boyfriend and she is OK now, just scared her since she grew up in Detroit proper. They are one of the only black families in the subdivision and act cautiously at times. I have gone out of my way to make them welcome and that skin color does not matter here. They are good neighbors and I do my best to be.
He and I will be going to the range sometime this next week and is intrigued that Open Carry is legal. Hopefully, she will come with us some time.

You should invite him, and all of MOC, and we can all head out to the Pit in Lapeer.

Myself, Kimberguy, and Wlt were at the Cascades fireworks OCing too.
At one point 2 sheriffs were in our general area about 20 feet away walking, when I noticed a man walk up to them and start leading them to us. They stopped, looked at us, and from what I could tell it looked like they were explaining to the man that OC is LEGAL cause he shook his head as they walked away from us. After that we saw NUMEROUS cops (state, city, and sheriff) staring at us over the next hour or so.
Kimberguy walked up to 2 of the sheriffs a little while later and talked with them as we stood near him.
As we made our way to the other side of the park to watch the fireworks I used the bathroom to come out and have Walt tell me "that guy over there is calling the cops". I just looked over at the guy on the phone and smiled as I heard his girlfriend say "that's ridiculous".
Other than that no issues

1) group OC bike ride sounds AWESOME!! If it's even remotely close to me and schedule permitting, I'd be in 100%
2) not so sure with the digital recorders but as like my ol' TAPE recorder, which, too has Voice Activated Recording, but leaving it on in that mode consumes batteries!!! I'd check that if you plan on having it on that mode all the time. Need to get myself one also, ASAP...

Also forgot to mention...OCed at Art Van in Jackson yesterday before the fireworks. Was in there for about an hour. The woman helping us didn't say a word. Walked past the manager at one point and I know he noticed my gun.
The lady helping us talked to him to ask him a question we had about 15 minutes later. After he answered it he said to her
Him -"is there anything else you need from me?
Her- "no"
Him - "Are you sure?"
Her - "nope"
Him - "Well if you need anything, just yell. I'll be in my prison over here" (refering to the customer service area)
Then he walked past me and looked down at my gun. I'm sure they didn't want to kick someone out of there store that was spending ALOT of money there!
