Sounds like Warren all over again. Fair, what the hell is wrong with you. We can't stop them from having a cop come to the picnic and baby sit us all day, if the want to waste resources on us.....sounds like poor management of funds to me.
As for 911 calls, of all the picnics we have had, only Warren PD was on call and that was more intimidation than protecting us and only because it was in the paper before the event. We have yet to have the police called on us by a citizen. The 911 call fallacy has got to be addressed. When the police use that statement explain to them that we have never had the policed call on any of our 10 other very public get-togethers.

If it were true that they were getting call after call, then I would say just having 1 car stay within a block would be a good way to save time. Their policy is even if they know where we are, they have to respond to every call, since the call may be about something serious that happens to be going on nearby. If we move through town, I'm quite sure they will get some calls. He also said that if people see the officer nearby, it'll probably settle them down.
Then again, if they're bull@#$%ting us about getting calls, you're absolutely right. We can find out, I suppose, if they show up. Finding out who called, or getting the records, could be very helpful. I think if they do try anything, we can have the Daily or Ann Arbor News do something.

Come on, the 911 call excuse is a red herring for the real reason they want a car nearby, to spy on us. Sugar coat it any way you want, but 911 calls on a person OCing are rare given the thousands of hours that people OC. And the checking on every call is crap too. If the the so called caller tells them it's a bunch of people in Wheeler park carrying guns, how many times do the police have to "check us out" to make sure it's "not something else". It's all crap and deep down you know it is too.

Well I'm sorry, lol. I have a tendency to be rather credulous. Should I call them tomorrow and tell them not to? Besides, what do we care if they're "spying" on us? Eventually, if we do this enough, they'll get bored.

They will do what they want to do regardless, I really don't think what you told them had any impact on how they plan to prepare for the event.

Though nearly impossible, I'll try to keep a smile on my face all day for their pictures and/or videos.

Reality check my thoughts may p o some so if they want to have police officer stand by ! Invite that officer to break bread [hang out] [spy] [socialize] [ report back what ?] to headquarters ? Educate what is there to hide ? I personally believe you make peace with open arms and communication rather than actions .When you dive and marked police car is in next lane do YOU wet yourself ? World is not perfect lets try to change this in A2 today PLEASE !Last edited on Sun Oct 12th, 2008 12:28 pm by taxwhat

I forgot my damn holster at my friend's apartment after going to the range the other week and when I stopped by there this morning he'd already left for work. So unless anyone has a spare 1911 holster laying around that I could borrow today I might just be CC'ing. Although I'm about to drop in at the gun show in Taylor and I might pick one up there if I find one cheap enough in a style that I like.

Szerdi, I have a pancake type, leather, S&W holster with thumb break for 1911's you may use. I'll be carrying my Glock for A2 and will not need it for today. Let me know soon if you want me to bring it.

Sorry guys, no homemade cheesecake is going to be with the rugers today. There is this stupid thing called "work" that has been really kicking my butt lately! I will be bringing a dessert of some sort, but it will have been made by the ladies with the plastic baggies covering their hair at the grocery store or maybe by the Keebler elves! See you folks in a few hours!
