I frequently use this.  A coworker saw a perforated target in my office, and mentioned the Wild West thing. I pointed out that the homicide rate in Dodge City or Tombstone added up to a bad week in DC. She said she found it "disturbing" that I could quote a statistic like that off the top of my head...

You should have told her that you found it disturbing that she uncritically repeated information that has been repeatedly disproved.
