I'm moving from the State of Indiana, where as long as you have a License to Carry a Handgun, you can go pretty much anywhere, and do anything with it.
Can anybody confirm for me what I understand from this site and Handgunlaw.us
I can legally open carry in my car? Meaning in my 1st 6 months of living there (before I can apply for permit) I can carry a holstered handgun on my person openly to the store or wherever without unloading and disarming while in my vehicle. The reason I'm asking is because in some states (Michigan) OCing in a car is considered carrying concealed.
will I be good to go? and if pulled over/detained for open carrying, I intend to ask something to the effect of "by what authority or law are you detaining/questioning me?"
Thank you.

Also forgot to ask:
Will my military ID or DD214 suffice as evidence of handgun training for CCW permit (or whatever Nebraska calls it)?
Thank you.

This is a good place to start your research: http://www.handgunlaw.us/
Ne. does not have total preemption - home rule applies for cities in some instances - so there is no quick and easy answer to many questions.
Example to OC in Omaha requires a special permit with special conditions.
BTW - Ne. has reciprocity with no other state.
Good luck!

Hi. Thanks for telling me to look at the site that I mentioned in my initial post. Very thoughtful of you.
Can anybody help with whether OC in car is legal without ccw permit (not talking about in Omaha)?

Are we being testy? Didn't remember the reference at the moment I posted.
Suggest you contact gunscribe (< member link) by PM - he is one of the most knowledgeable of sources re Ne. and carry guns.
This section of the forum is unfortunately not very active and you might otherwise wait a spell for a response.

| I have been of the understanding that OC throughout Nebraska is fine; except where otherwise prohibited as per local laws. The hard part would be to know all of those cities/areas unless this forum has an extensive collection. But even then it probably isn't fully comprehensive.
