I would like to visit my friend in upstate Vermont own a pick-up truck and want to take my glock handgun. read the u.s. code title 18,chapt.44 sect.926a. posted by jpierce. Can I get feedback on proper securing on said weapon-by the way traveling from n.j. thru n.y.state the only way to get there---- thanks

1. Do not go through New York city.

2. Unload the gun and all magazines.  Do not have any magazine inserted in the gun.  Put the gun and the magazines in a case and lock it with a real lock.  If you take ammo, put the ammo in a separate case and lock that with a lock as well.  Put both cases as far away from any occupant in the truck - under the seat, behind the seat.

Assuming your pickup does not have shell, camper or topper.  If it does, the gun/ammo goes in the back, not in the passenger compartment.

thanks for the input, I go to the northern point of jersey-new york throughway into vermont totally avoiding nyc. I have a lockable tool box in the bed area will use it also
