So, did you guys have fun?
Google maps let me down.
My roomate and I drove 3 HOURS there, and then the directions were wrong, and asked for directions 3 different times, and went of wild goose chases, then turned around and drove 3 hours home.
Anyone for next thursday, and giving me real directions.

We did have fun..., and in the back of mind I was thinking where's J. at and was hoping you had something else to attend to and didn't get lost. That sounds like a absolute nightmere, i've had a similar incident heading to the same place, i'll give you my number next time and personally make sure that your directions are correct.
It was me, .40, kiv, Racer and his father. A small attendence with plenty of guns and ammunition. Thanks for helping me break in the glock guys, and thanks for just coming.

I must say the soviet Kalashnikov design was very well represented. There were only 5 of us there, but there were 6 AK type rifles (plus an SKS and a Mosin Nagant). I guess we don't hold a cold war grudge.
How much ammo do you guys think we burned? I had about 300 rounds of 7.62x39... gone... 150 rounds of 9mm... gone... 50 rounds of .38 special +P... I have 10 left (and a bruised hand)... about 50 rounds of .45... gone... and 50 rounds of 7.62x54R... gone! I guess the bump firing was an ammo killer, but soooooo worth it!
Thanks for coming out today guys. Maybe next time we can incorporate a camp out? No beer allowed at the range (for obvious reasons), but we can certairnly have a few after another noisy afternoon having fun with friends.
BTW, did anyone check the damage to the red box we were shooting up? If it came down to it, I would not want to be on the wrong end of Kivuli's AK at 100 yards!

I had 700 rounds of .40 and 9mm to burn off today, and didn't get a single round off.
I also had two plates of bullet proof poly with me.
Can I interest you in coming out on the 6th?

150 7.62, 159 .45(there were 34 hollow points or so I had reserved for that bulletproof glass, racer shot some federal hydrashoks, I shot a few... def. a good round.), and 30 or so express/bird shot. I think Kivuli and .40 remember that express shot. and I had a 50 box of .40, which i've still got and will just save fore the next time.
Kivuli was was hitting the 100 yard target with his USP, and was getting scarily close with my subcompact glock, he may have hit it with it... he was real close if he didn't. And he was destroying it with the ak, therefore I wouldn't even want to be on the wrong end of that guys sling shot.
Racers ruger shot great, it's slim... not a grip i'm use to but would be great to carry. Don't let anyone tell you that 9mm doesn't kick .40's emp will hop. And racers dad owns a very nice chinese sks, thing shoots great.
And my vector arms AK has a funny smell... it's not just my imagination.
I'm willing to try and afford another trip.

Thanks a ton for letting my father and I come out and burn through some of you guy's ammo. We both had a great time and I think it kind of reignited the fire for my Dad who hasn't shot any long guns in a while. He is looking to buy a lot more ammo for the SKS now. It was awesome to shoot so many different style guns in such a short time. We went through just under 100 rounds of 7.62 in our SKS, maybe 12 shells went through that old .410 shotgun, about 75 rounds through the SR9. You guys definitely were going at a faster pace than we were. People were handing me so many different guns to shoot that I started to loose track of which ones belonged to who.

Not sure I can make it on the 6th, but would like to maybe start planning a camp and shoot when it starts to cool off.
Racer, your dad was really in the spirit even before he got there. I noticed he was sporting the SR9 hat . That was a dead giveaway that he was ready to come out and have fun. On that subject, I did enjoy shooting the SR9. I didn't know what to expect (having shot other Ruger 9mm's before), but was pleasantly surprised. That pistol makes an excellent HD, carry and range pistol (still aint a 1911, though ). I was also surprised with the Glock 30 . A compact polymer .45 shouldn't be that easy to shoot. Honestly, the only pistols that I would hesitate to take a long shot with out of the group were 2 of the ones I brought. I mean, how many 100 yd shots could we make with the Tec 9 or the 2" S&W?

Oh yes, it was a blast (pun intended). We definitely need to get another trip planned. I dunno how many rounds total we blew through but you weren't kidding about that express birdshot. I do indeed have a bruise on my right shoulder and I'm pretty sure that's what did it.
That red box didn't know what hit it. I can definitely say this: I know what my next long gun purchase is gonna be. I have GOT to get me a Mosin Nagant!

So when are you planning that camping trip, who would be interested? safety wouldn't be an issue at the campsite thats for sure... Shall we call this the 2nd meeting of Open Carry at Uwharrie?
J would you be interested in aligning your range trip with the camp out/bbq or whatever? I think you'd really like .40's collection of eastern european rifles, his mosin is a blast to shoot. Plus he's got some great 1911's, if you're into 9mm his EMP is top of the line and hes got a wesson .45 that anyone would be proud to open carry, and of course the ghetto blaster was interesting to say the least. Plus Racer has this ruger that's been on my mind since we left, that thing was a solid gun... all in all i'm excited to get something planned again.

I really wish I wasn't in the middle of rebuilding my race car right now. I came back from the range and immediately found about 5 long guns for sale locally that I wanted to buy. I have too many expensive hobbies. I'm looking forward to the next meet and hopefully I can bring a long a few more guns next time. If we had known it was going to be that kind of a party we would have brought the Suburban and a lot more ammo!

It's all good, but given my schedule I wouldn't be able to do anything until Sept. This is OK with me, if we're talking about camping bbecause last year I camped there in August... no thanks! It gets pretty steamy out there even at night.

September isn't too far away, only a month and some.

I hear you on the hot weather thing, I was going to put the back seat down in cherokee and sleep with engine running and the AC blastin'. I think you guys, and the rangers might , so maybe waiting till sept is a good idea. By the way I wasn't really considering doing that, well maybe a couple of years ago when gas was a little cheaper...
Come on down next time with your dad racer, maybe bring the food and will bring the ammo. I didn't get a chance to shoot the sks... although it looked like a solid rifle. I've been looking into sks' and Mosins since I got back, so i know what you mean...

Sorry about the double tap post but... we are coming into sept. and I wanted to revitalize interest in another range trip.
I'm currently good on 7.62, and looking to build my .45 and 9mm stockpile as well. and i've still got that box of .40 I bought the last range trip so I could shoot someones For-tah but there were none.
I'll bring both my AK's out again, with my two glocks. Not an exstensive collection but i'm trying...
Just trying to see the level of interest that is out there, and i'm itching to shoot the AK's again.

I'm ready to go again. My friend just picked up a nice Yugo SKS and needs to get more familiar with it. We have a Mosin that needs some rounds through it. If I could dig up some factory load .38 Special full wadcutters I might be able to bring a little treat. I'm currently out of 9mm other than my carry ammo, but I'm sure I could dig up a few boxes if needed.

I really want to come to another shoot, but I'm sadly lacking in the ammo department and with work being as slow as it is, it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to remedy that situation any time soon. =/

I have decided that guns are bad, and I refuse to take part in another because I think guns are bad. You people and your noise polluting tools of death need to rethink your hobbies...

.40 Blasphemy. When I shoot my guns rose pedals come out with a sign that says "BANG". Instruments of death? that sounds like woman talk... you let them get to you...
Sorry to hear about that Kivu, hope something works out.
Bring em' out Racer, i'm sure this time I can round up something interesting to shoot at. I got a glock 19 so i'll try to provide some 9mm as well as .45.

I called my dad yesterday just to see what he was up to. My mom answered and I heard the table saw running in the background. I asked her what he was doing. She said "making target stands for the rifle range".
