awesome(if i get enough of a drive i'll build some, but i doubt will, i will probably cop out and buy something). I hope both of ya'll can make it out again...
Ironic timing on him making the targets though, I think there must be something in the air that is triggering the urge to shoot.

Did I mention that I was out there this past Saturday?
I'm down to go whenever, but weekedays seem like the best time for me now. My wife doesn't like going out there more than once in a while. She thinks I have a problem, obsession, addiction... pick the term. Either way, she's right!

Remember the first step to getting better is denial, or is that the grief step program?... either way I don't have a problem.
Weekdays are fine with me, range to ourselves like last time would be great. I may have to bring a couple bad guy watermelons in honor of the gunny. I'll try to concentrate on getting some 9mm and .45 in the mean time.
I should be able to make it as long as we keep it after 4 or 5 like last time, i'm not sure how much light we'll have so i'll make a note tonight what time the sun sets.

Welcome to the forums, and i'm pretty sure nobody would mind. Don't forget your ammo, guns, targets, water, etc.
You guys/ya'll want to try for next thursday which I believe is the 10th, or the week of the 14th?
Anybody have any problems with it being on a thursday?Last edited on Wed Sep 2nd, 2009 06:40 pm by Myrighttocarry

I can't do it on the 10th, but I am free on the 17th.
I would like to make it out to this one, since I had a 6 hour drive for nothing last time.

The 17th is good.
Jt if you give me the directions google maps gave you i'll try to work them out. It now has some thing(may be an old app) where you can view the intersection where the turn/merge is.
Just let me know which route your taking and how far/where your problems were last time.
I'd like to get you down there this time since all you did last time was meet one of the pittsboro's finest.

I may try to make it depending on how late the group stays? It would be about 6pmish before I could make it there. I work until 515p on weekdays.
Here is a map...take reservation road near the Uwharrie Hunt Camp...its the southern most point of access off hwy 109....then follow 576 to the range on the left.

map source:

Google Maps of Eldorado Outpost (its maybe 1/2 mile north of the hunt camp on hwy 109):

17th is OK by me. I'll bring some different guns this time. BTW for those of you looking for a cheap yet great rifle like my Nagant: http://www.aimsurplus.com. Best 90 bucks you'll ever spend!

What a teaser..., it's alright i'm sure they will be back in. Those are solid rifles; and if it runs out of ammo it can also be used as a club.
I would def. get one if my new friend the glock 19 wasn't sitting beside me. I've got to cut myself off, or i'll have another one of those darn gumby guns.
It let me almost buy one? there are two different kinds... they are charging 10 dollars more the mosins with hexgonal recievers.
http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Surplus_and_Used_Long_Guns.html
and .40 where is the best place around here to get 9mm? I can't find any 9mm at wal mart, just .40. Last edited on Fri Sep 4th, 2009 04:44 am by Myrighttocarry

Come to the wally next to my house on Independence, but call them before you go.
As far as the hex receiver vs round, the hex is more desireable (don't know why).

I tried them about two weeks ago, it looked like a tornado hit the ammo section. No worries though, i'm sure i'll run into something.
Hex is suppose to provide more velocity than non, isn't it? That is why glock uses hexogonal rifiling I believe. I could have just pulled that out of my... but i think it's true based on what i've heard.

Ha, thats not what Glock told me. And we all know glock is always right.
A number of advantages are claimed by the supporters of polygonal rifling. These include:
- Less bullet deformation, resulting in reduced drag on the bullet which helps to increase range, accuracy, and velocity
- Increased barrel life and reduced buildup of copper or lead within the barrel
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polygonal_rifling
So I think it's up for debate. But if Glock uses it, it must be true. If you took Logic in College you can see how this works out.

Hi, I'm new here. Both to the forum & NC. Would you mind if I met you at the range for the Uwharrie shoot?
The hex receivers on the Nagants are older versions and considered stronger and more valuable than the round ones. It refers to the outside shape of the receiver. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinFeatures01.htm Unfortunately, it won't help your velocity.
More info about your rifle than you probably will ever want to know can be found at http://7.62x54r.net It's a good reference source.

1. Welcome to the forum!
2. We would love to have you!
3. Thanks for the info on the hex receiver. I knew it didn't affect the rifling, but I didn't want to stop MRTC when he was on a roll
