I just thought of this question that really pertains for those of us living in Ohio or other cold weather states.
What to wear while opencarrying is super important.
I am thinking that I will just wear my Harley David leather jacket since its only waist low. But there goes my awesome trench coat this thing is full length plus it has a liner for the cold.
Just think of seeing some guy in a puffy jacket with a shoulder rig you notice the guy more and get a laugh but I dont think crime goes down just because its cold and you say screw carring its to cold mer mer mer.
Heres a good one will a gun jam more often in colder temps?

Waist length jacket is a good idea. Another option is a coat the has zippers on either hip that can be unzipped to allow for a holster. Somthing a little like this.

If I'm wearing a long jacket/coat I generally just conceal. I do have a thigh holster that works well to drop my sidearm below my coat.

Keep the pics and comments coming,I think all of us who live in colder climates really appreciate it.
I do plan to get my CC which would help out alot for the cold and transport, although im not to fond of having to pay money for some class that is just a way for the state to keep tabes on gun owners and just a way to make money.

Get a separate gunbelt that you can wear outside your coat.

Actually OC is illegal in Florida, those folks are forced to conceal.

In the winter I still wear my open carry holster.
If I have a coat on, the coat simply hangs over the gun. (I have a CHL, so when the coat is covering my gun I'm legal.) If my coat happens to swing back, or if I remove my coat, then I am OC'ing.

I carry a jacket in my vehicle for the times I need one. Otherwise I usually wear a long sleeve shirt ( flannel or fleece) when I do my business. I wear the same holster for my 1911 year round (an opentop Glaco).

| I wear a ski jacket that goes to the waist. I carry with my Blackhawk Serpa holster. If it gets colder than 20 below zero I do wear a longer jacket, but covering up is not a problem because we do not need any type of license to either OC or CC in Alaska.
