Question to you - does your's have any grooves on the front of the trigger guard? Mine is smooth, but I saw a photo of one with the grooves and I'm thinking of getting it done.
Yes, mine has the "checkering" on the front of the trigger guard which allows my left hand index finger a place to rest when I press the gun into my left hand. Like yours, mine is also DA/SA. Mine also has a "decocker safety" that I often leave in "off" position and allow the DA first round as a safety. I find it difficult to draw, rotate the safety off, and fire in a smooth manner.
hlh - Exactly! Carry mine the same way. There's something about the "red-dot" showing . What is your carry holster? Like one of my other posts, I have a collection.

I bought the belt, magazine holder, and paddle holster from http://www.wildbillsconcealment.com . He had a good deal on the set at the Mechanicsville gun show last month. I've been using this for open carry. I'm still working on a good holster CC solution.
For the past couple of years I've mostly OC'd but will CC on occasion. My primary carry guns, CC and OC are of the 45 caliber persuasion in the guise of a Kimber RCP (OC) and Detonics Combatmaster (CC). Every once in awhile I find myself also carrying a Ruger SP 101 .357 DAO CC or a full sized Kimber OC.
i carry either a Walther P99 9mm or a Walther P99 .40S&W depending on my mood. i have Suppressors for both as well , but i dont usually carry the suppressor..
thanks for that Video of the Fobus. i often use a fobus myself but thats making me think about another holster.
I don't want to trash Fobus, its just that as open carriers a gun grab is something that could happen. I have one that I bought before I saw the video and I thought it was OK for the money. But the holster just isn't strong enough to bet my pistol or my life on.
Winter: Glock 30 (.45 ACP) loaded with Winchester Ranger 230 grain in a Kramer Inside-the-Waistband #3; backup: Glock 26 (9mm) loaded with Winchester Ranger 127 grain +p+ in a pocket holster or a S&W 340 PD (.38 Special) loaded with Speer Gold Dot 135 grain +p
Summer: Glock 26 (9mm) loaded with Winchester Ranger 127 grain +p+ in a pocket holster or a S&W 340 PD (.38 Special) loaded with Speer Gold Dot 135 grain +p

I carry a Taurus 617, stainless, ported, 7 round .357 mag revolver. I thought it was pretty cool until I saw an Alaskan in person. WOW! I think that thing would break my wrist on the first shot! -Opie

Nothing wrong with the 617 - I used to have one. I like the .357 magnum round - I still own two - a Taurus 627, and a S&W 340PD.
The Alaskan does have significant recoil, but it doesn't hurt as much as most folks expect. It is small, but there is enough bulk to absorb a significant amount of the felt recoil. I have shot as many as 100 rounds through it in a single trip to the range and suffered no ill after effects. The ballistics of the .454 round are awesome, and with the Alaskan, it is finally available in a small enough package to be carried daily. If you lived a little closer, I'd offer you the opportunity to try it out.
