|
I'm looking to find a new range to go to and could use some help. I usually go to the Sportsmans Club of Franklin County, but their indoor range is rarely open and their outdoor range is a bit too far (the shortest one is 25 yards). Does anyone know of any other good ranges? I live in the Cambridge area and don't want to have to commute too far to go there.

These are all well and good, but my favorite place to shoot is with friends on private property so you've got the whole place to yourselves. Unfortunately, this isn't attainable in Burlington, but that's what good friends are for!

| Contact Pat Benner NRA Instructor in South Burlington 802-355-0245. There is sand pit in Charlotte where the owner allows RESPONSIBLE shooters for a $10 fee. Pat knows where this place is and how to use it!

| You might try the Chittenden County Fish & Game Club on Wes White Hill Rd. in Jonesville (outside Richmond). $30/year dues. Memberships can be purchased at the club, or at Powderhorn Outdoor Sports or BJ's Guns in Williston. Covered pistol and intermediate rifle ranges. Uncovered long range rifle ranges. Free earplugs. Carry your membership card as you will be checked.

I live in jeffersonville, and I am a member of the CCF&GC. I am a former trustee of that club. Unfortunately for us in this area(Jef/Camb) we have to drive 25+ miles to go to a range. There is the Lamoille Valley Fish & game club in Morrisville, Also there is a range in Barre, bit of a trip to get to. There is a range in Eden, But it is used only by permission and for special ocassions. There is a range in Alburg, Off Greensboro Road, And each county has there own Fish and game club range.

if you drive down lime kiln road in Charlotte you will come to a dairy farm, find someone working on the farm and ask if you can go down and shoot...there are two pistol pits and a rifle range. all they ask for is a donation, and pick up your own mess.

Yes that is the Louis Laberge farm. They have started to be a little more strict on who they let onto the property now. They have had problems with people not be friendly to other shooters.

thats too bad, i love going there, I hear about all the issues people have with overbearing range masters, and overpriced range ammo, and I feel so lucky about being able to go to where I essentially shoot for free (I always leave a donation, but I dont count that as a fee) hopefully people realize how lucky we are here to have someone like Louis Laberge around to let us shoot for free, and dont ruin it.

Yeah I was there the other day(Tues, July 7th) at Laberges place. Some guy who I don't know his name. I was shooting from the benches on the far right lower range. This guy sets up at the 300+ yard spot on the access road leading to the far right range. He just walks out to the target frame as im shooting. He stands out in the middle of the field and waves his arms at me. So i stopped shooting immediately. He goes to the target frame. tears off my target puts up his , Then he walks back to the 300+ yard bench loads and begins to shoot. Now he is shooting pretty damn close to me. So I run up to him and say WTF. He tells me to kiss his ass, He won't be there long. Some peopl have no brains at all. Just to prove how ignorant he was. He never even hit his target once, iron sights on an FAL. Plus he had metric mags in an inch pattern FAL, so he had feed problems too. He must have shot 100+ rounds. I couldn't retrieve my stuff because of this guy. So I called Louis's son and he came down to ask the guy to leave. Which he did, He got his name and plate number. Then called the Shelburne Police and filled an trespass complaint against the guy. I also spoke with the Shelburne police, about this guys reckless attitude towards firearms safety. don't know what has happened since then.

| I took a course the other weekend with Vermont Tactical. We used the range at Alder gun shop just outside of Franklin. Hope this helps.

Alder run does have a good range, they have also done alot to improve it the last few years. haven't been that way in at least 6 months or more. I live in Jeffersonville, So I have to drive at least 25+ miles anywhere to go shoot at a range.
