Me for sure.  Hoping to convince Susan to attend.

Also hoping PA Carry will be able to attend.  Met him last month when he was in town on a job - nice fellow and some incredible stories when Grapeshot & I let him get a word in.  Seems he knows MTN Jack who was arrested for carrying near where Obama was going to be speaking later on ( http://opencarry.mywowbb.com/forum46/15561.html ).

See you all there.

stay safe.

How about Monday the 13th instead? I have the night off that day, otherwise I'll have to work on the 14th.

Don't they call that Henrico, VA now since it is actually in the county?

The snooty people in Henrico did not like having a Richmond, VA postal address so they did a poll and changed it.  They used some lame excuse about tax dollars being sent to the wrong locality, yeh right.

<<---- Snooty person

I for one didnt mind the Richmond, Va address as it was easy to identify BUT the story about the tax dollars going to Richmond City instead of Henrico County is exactly true. I voted to change the name. Sorry if you live in the city and will no longer benefit from my tax dollars..  :)

What tax dollars?  Are the people in Henrico so uneducated that they don't know where they live and send their tax dollars to the wrong locality?

DMV requires the locality where your vehicle(s) are garaged.  The state tax from ask the same question.  So what tax?

Deeds & Titles are filed in the circuit court of the local county or city.

I guess I answered my own question.

Are you so uneducated that you think that DMV and state taxes are the only ones you pay? Are you aware that the Henrico County and Richmond City border lines have changed numerous times over the years? If my memory serves correctly, the last border move was around 1954 on the Staples Mill/Broad St area. Did you know that the Henrico County jail used to be on Main Street in the City of Richmond? Did you know that a good portion of the City of Richmond near UR used to be in Henrico County?

There are many people, especially the elderly that don't keep up on these things. Here's some info from Henrico County so that you can be better educated...

THE ISSUE

Thousands of Henrico County residences and businesses mistakenly pay their taxes to the City of Richmond because their mailing address is “Richmond, VA.” Due to this confusion, Henrico currently loses an estimated $5 million in annual tax revenue to the City of Richmond. For more than a decade, we have worked to resolve this problem, but the incorrect payment of tax revenue remains. The lost revenue stems from bank franchise taxes, business licenses, business personal property taxes, consumer utility taxes, daily rental taxes, public services corporation taxes, vehicle licenses, individual personal property taxes, and sales and use taxes that are incorrectly paid to the City of Richmond rather than where they were generated, namely Henrico County.

Just what could $5 million do?

Hire 100 new teachers

Buy 54 new school buses each year

Hire 90 new police officers

Buy and staff four new Emergency Medical Service units

Buy 150 fully equipped police cars

Develop two new community parks

Operate two elementary schools or one middle school for a year

If those are the possible benefits, color me snooty.

1954 wasn't that when Al Gore invented something.  So you are trying to convince me it took fifty years to get this corrected?  Adolf Hitler told the Nazi Germany they were winning the war too.

It just goes to show that there is a sucker born every minute and most of them must live in Henrico.  No wonder the No Car Tax guy made it so far.

I live in Henrico and voted for the change.  Not snooty, I just did not want to be associated with the numbskuls like Mayor Doug.  Now, if I could just do something about Timmy-boy.

Getting back on thread --

Heard from PA Carry and he is going to be able to make the dinner 10/14.  Might be bringing a few co-workers along, but that is still to be determined.

PA Carry has asked how we all became involved in VCDL and gun rights "activism".  While OCDO, VCDL and the Richmond Open Carry Dinner are not related, most of us are involved in all three to one extent or another.  I'd like to ask if we can accomodate his desire for information either during dinner or at the post-dinner digestive meeting.

Bring lawn chairs and quarters- this might be a long session.

stay safe.

Over the two plus years of doing this we've found it best to stick with a consistant date and time, and Tuesdays at 7 pm seems to be best for the majority.  I know, this is cruddy if you don't have that time off.  I have weekly conflicts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and then the group of 10+ that are consistant have other  days of the week where they have conflicts.  Tuesday we've found, is the only day where most folks can make.

Actually I live just north of the river.  As for thread jacking  I learned from the rest of you who hijacked by license plate thread.  Just answer my original question, "what taxes".  I already know the answer.  It is nothing but smoke and mirrors by the county, heck they won't even tell you.

As for thread jacking what about the comments about Doug & Tim.

All I did was make a factual correction and ask for clarification.
