Both of our Senators are keeping a tally of call ins favoring or opposing Cap & Trade.
At the rate that spendable income is projected to decrease, many (most?) of us will be hard pressed to find funds for practice ammo much less that new carry gun. All expenses of manufacturing etc. ultimately end up coming out of the consumer's pocket.
Call and express your choice of a No Vote for Cap & Trade.
Do it now - its your last chance.

We didn't need but a few more votes the other way in the House and there wouldn't be the problem now. It can be stopped in the Senate but not by remaining silent.
The American people need to get angry and vocal.

This is encouraging:
U.S. Jim Inhofe, who earlier said a criminal investigation “probably should be’’ conducted into allegations the EPA suppressed a climate change report, conceded Tuesday he is not qualified to make that determination.
“I have no way of knowing,’’ the Oklahoma Republican said.
Inhofe, however, stood by his prediction that a historic climate change bill narrowly approved by the House last week faces certain defeat in the Senate.
“It’s dead in the water,’’ he said.
Inhofe said the much-anticipated conclusion of a Senate race in Minnesota that will give Democrats the 60 votes needed to overcome Republican filibusters would not be enough to save the climate change bill.
“I’ll tell you what a lot of people are thinking, and that is it looks like things are going to be over and we are going to get the clown from Minnesota,’’ he said.
“They are not going to get more than 35 votes.’’
Asked if he was referring to Al Franken as the clown from Minnesota, Inhofe confirmed he was.
“I didn’t mean to be disrespectful. I don’t know the guy, but … for a living he is a clown,’’ the senator said.
“That’s what he does for a living.’’

Yeah, they were "keeping a tally" on the Eric Holder confirmation as well. We all know how that "tally" turned out...

As soon as My wife & I saw the vote on CSPAN (House) I e-mailed both Webb and Warner expressing my displeasure at what I just witnessed.
We will keep calling and writing.

Grapeshot, considering where I live, I doubt I will even be able to afford to drive into town to buy the ammo, or drive to the range.

So glad you brought this back on thread.
I know the problem and it not getting any better with all of this snit.
Consider people on fixed income and I am on flex income.

That's why I shoot as much 22 as I do GS. Even my hand loads cost enough to dent the budget so the new gun gets shot less and one of the old 22's get a workout.
Hopefully the economy will get better because I will run out of 22 ammo in 2025.

I guess its time to invest in a couple 22's... a rifle and a pistol. Shooting .45 ain't cheap and I can't remember the last time I saw any 7.62 x 39 on the shelf...

Order 7.62 x 39 on line - plenty FMJ avail. from numerous sources - most of it one of the Bears.
I bought a quality .22 cal conversion for my 1911s to cut costs.
I'm thinking about buying stock in an ammo manufacturer so I can get some return on my purchases. There stock value goes up every time I buy ammo.

I dunno what Grape got, but I got the Advantage Arms Standard kit and an extra magazine of Kimber manufacture for my Taurus PT1911. Have run 700 rounds of CCI Minimag and Winchester Wildcat through it. Had to get some minor work done after 400 rounds, would not return to battery properly, hammer would catch at half-cock. Last session, 300 rds, was flawless. Never did find out what the problem was, gunsmith was off-duty the day I picked it up from the shop. Kit was just under $300. 700 rds of WWB .45 at $35/hd would be $255, so I've almost broken even. Next range session...
http://www.advantagearms.com
I bought it at a gun show from http://www.cerberusconversions.com.
Fully adjustable rear sight, front and rear slide serrations, cleaning kit. Slides can be swapped in under 60 seconds, I've managed 30 without much practice. AA mags will lock the slide back on firing the last round, thus functions exactly as your normal slide, so also great for all live-fire drills. Fits in any standard 1911 holster.
If you can't tell, I really like it......

Bought the Kimber with three (3) magazines so that I can do all of the drills.
Shame on me though, I haven't shot it yet.
Note to self: GO TO THE RANGE SOON !

Sadly, I am very particular about the firearms I purchase. MY last .22 pistol was a S&W Mod 41HB. It was a tack-driver out to 50 yards. I'd really like to find one of those Sig-Hammerli 22's they made for a few years. I may settle for a Ruger bull barrel or another 41 if ai can find a decent one. I noticed they started building them again. I wonder if the quality is up to what they used to be...
For a .22 rifle, I wouldn't mind picking up a Ruger 10/22 or an old match gun. I'll take a look at the DCM stocks (or whatever they call that place now) to see what they have. they usually have some decent 22 match rifles for a decent price.
