Well join a tea party.  I was the only one I could see OC-ing at the NN tea party April 15th.   I hear a bit about some July 4th tea parties but haven't looked into them yet.

No-can-do friend.  I will be working the VCDL table at the gun show on the 4th and the 5th.   Otherwise I'd likely be glad to do so.  Maybe the next one after that???

OC'd Hickory Grill off Centerville (great little hideaway if you haven't been there), Navy FCU, Target, and Best buy at Greenbrier.  Clerk at BestBuy was a little leery till I spent 2k, then he had no problems at all.

No problems, of course.

Finally saw my first, randomly sighted open carrier since moving to Virginia 10 years ago.  At the Holland Rd Plaza Aztec on Saturday night wearing an orange/yellow shirt w/ what I believe was a Glock.

I often read the postings here about people open carrying in the same stores I go to but never see anyone other than a few that appeared to be police or security.
So If you are on this forum & saw a family do :what:this on your way out......that was the reason. I finally spotted someone!

Ate at Juan's on US17 with the Mrs and my friend Mr. Colt this evening....great meal, reasonably priced. Fairly good crowd, no gawks, no kiddies pointing, nothing but a good dining experience and uneventful open carry event.  Way it should be everywhere:lol:!

OC'ed all over town this weekend. Some highlights:

* Parking lot at Tides game Friday night. Brother & I got rousted by the Norfolk PD while putting flyers on people's windshields. (Supposedly not allowed in that lot because Norfolk is responsible for security in the lot, which makes putting flyers on cars a liability and therefore illegal. A fight for another day.) I don't think he ever saw the pistol, and I know he didn't see my brother.

* Siam 21 for dinner after leaving the stadium. Good food, nice folks. No interactions.

* Food Lion at intersection of Lynnhaven and Pleasant Valley. Been in there a bunch, usually nod at the security guard. Got a half-retarded reaction from the checker, but I think it was mostly surprise and not so much a negative. Then the guard stopped us on the way out. First words out of his mouth to me were "How do you like that Witness?" I thought that was damn sharp observation and good gun knowledge to pick that out from 7 yards, especially since it’s not a common pistol. So we stood around and talked for 30 minutes or so. Hell of a nice guy. We gave him on of Ed's cards, and he said he checks this forum a bunch, so if he's reading this - thanks for the conversation, friend. We'll see you around, I'm sure.

* Parking lot at "Five guys" at intersection of Kempsville and Providence Saturday while putting more flyers on cars. No interactions.

* Autozone (and general area) at corner of Newtown and Virginia Beach. Couple looks, no interactions.

* Walmart at Lynnhaven and Princess Anne @ 0730 Sunday. No interactions. Curiously, all they had on the shelf for pistol was .357 Sig. Thought that was kind of a random selection.

* IHOP on General Booth. No interactions, not even a that I saw, and we walked all over that restaurant.

Couple more on my way down and back, posted those in the Richmond forum.

Was thinking of going to a Tides game soon. Any issues with Harbor Park?

I was oc'ing this past weekend, in Lowe's in newport news, the Newport News Walmart, and the York county Walmart.

When I was cutting my grass on Saturday, I found a really nice cellular phone laying in front of my mail box, I turned it on to call the owner but it was locked, but since it was a Verizon brand phone, I figure I would take it to the Verizon store here in Gloucester and drop it off.

I sent my Kel tec "slide" off to get Hard Chromed. And I have been OC'ing my Ruger P93 since last week, a much larger gun than my P11. So as I walk into the verizon store, there are two customers in front of me, the lady at the counter takes one look at my hip and prompts me to the front of the line, asking me what I needed:D.

I tell her about the phone, and give it to her, and walk out, it was a funny situation, guess you had to be there.

Yes about a month ago I OC-ed at Anchor pools on Hampton Hwy and their were other customers mulling about but when the man behind the counter saw my sidearm he almost lunged toward me to test of my pool water. :what: He moved so fast that if someone was in front of him they would likely take a tumble together.

I guess I shouldn't OC just to get to the front of the line though. :D

Had my first time being told my help was not needed when stopping to help change a tire. I was on 664 on the Suffolk side of the MMBT when I stopped the to help 2 ladies change a tire. They were all happy that some stopped to help till I walked closer to them then I got the :what:when they saw I was open carrying. That is when they told me they did not need help that someone was comeing. Then went back the other way 2hrs later and they were still there. :banghead:

Unless you have been given custodial privileges over someone, you are not responsible for their behavior.

It is their own stupidity and foolishness that got them into that situation and kept them there.

I've had a few of the socialist sheep get really offended when I've told them I'm not responsible for their well-being. They got irate when I told them I would gladly accept honest assistance but preferred to take care of my own problems.

In your case, you offered assistance, they refused. You are absolved of any further care or concern for them IMO. They freely exercised liberty. You should respect it. ;)

For good or for ill, every action has a consequence. :)

By respecting their wishes and leaving you probably did the best thing for the OC-ing cause.  After you showed respect and left, they probably regretted turning you away (after another 2 hours especially).  The more polite people open-carrying the better.

If they would have at least asked you about your gun, you could have reminded them that OC is legal and they should consider carrying themselves since they never know what neighborhood their car will break down in. ;)

OC'd Monday night to Plaza Aztecas on Holland Road for dinner with some friends. Then went to the Food Lion in Shipps Corner to do some shopping. Ran into another guy OC'ing... I stopped and talked to him and his buddy, he had not heard of this site and he said when he bought the handgun, the gun shop guy told him it was a open carry state. So we chatted for a few minutes and I gave him a copy of the VA Gun Rights print out and we went our seperate ways. Great experience!

Do you happen to know which gun shop this was?

OC'ed up and down the Oceanfront (60th to 80th Street) and Chesapeake beaches.

Found out some a**hat untied and moved my catamaran.  I put it back.  Someone also stole my Confederate Flag from my mast.

I OC'ed while I filed the police report in front of my house.:D

The wife and I went to AMC and watched Public Enemies (good movie). I was CCing but I noticed that there isnt any signage at AMC about no weapons or anything, maybe I will attempt to OC next time.

We then went to Olive Garden on Mercury, 3rd or 4th time there with only a few looks from employee's and guests. My wife told me that an older lady siting near us saw my firearm when we sat down and she shook her head.

After dinner we stopped in at Walmart on Mercury to get a few things. I saw someone with what looked alot like a holster on his right hip but there was no firearm, which I found odd.

All in all it was a good day.

I park in the adjacent parking lot and walk into the Post Office with an empty holster all the time :^).  Maybe he was thinking they didn't allow guns in the store??
