At the start of this thread it mentioned that Spokane Statutes were still being revised or that there was something in progress. I looked but could not find an update has anything new come out regarding OCing in Spokane. Is the city still working on it?

Update:

Change of Monroe Municipal Code confirmed as given in original thread. This was brought to my attention by my brother who is moving to Monroe. Change actually took place back in February of this year.

REICHlands dog and pony show entry.

dittos, except I threw it in the City Attorneys face that they did not HAVE an Ordinance because of preemption and repeal(ed)" 9.41.300

The documents are in another thread, guess I should have posted them here?

Admin, want to move them?

The City Council lied through their pearly whites about this and we tag teamed them. Bad. I've been lying in wait for this for a year, and am not the only one.

Whats needed now is contact with the Legislature to address this chronic disregard for the Authority of the Legislature vested in them by the PEOPLE.

Whos with me to go to Olympia and visit a few Legislators? I assume the ones requesting AGO 2008 # 8 would be up for it.

TIme to put criminal penalties in law for Council members and Commissioners who flagrantly violate the law.

Link to documents to and from the COR Attorney.

I would offer that is insufficient. Their actions rise to the level of subversion of the State Constitution.

Is the city still working on it?Spokane's City Attorney is Howard Delaney (e-mail: HDelaney@SpokaneCity.org).  In his former life he was a criminal defense attorney and I had several cases with him (he represented one of my "favorite" CIs, but that's another story).  From my discussions with Howard I believe him to be pro-2nd Amendment.  The hang up, if any efforts are currently being made, is likely with the City Council and/or Mayor, most likely the latter, IMHO.  If I can make time soon I will try to check with Howard on the status of this and post the results.

Lewis County continues to defy state law. See here for details:
http://opencarry.mywowbb.com/view_topic.php?id=36754&forum_id=55&jump_to=641801#p641801

I'm asking what folks think about having the next OCDO meet in a Lewis County park (Centralia/Chehalis) with the media and County officials invited.

*EDIT* Maybe not the _next_ meetup -- I see one for Western WA has already been set for Feb. Perhaps the meet after next?

Hi all, sorry if there is a more recent thread on this, I've been poking around a couple days and didn't find one.

I live in Issaquah, and sent off a brief mail to the City Council asking about the municipal code today.  Due to the sheer volume of information on this site, I may have missed a "best practices" section for contacting local governments to get things changed?  I noticed that there were several different avenues people took to get local officials to look at their particular statutes.

Voob:

A generic message to the City Council isn't likely to produce much in the way of results. What you need is a single, well-placed contact such as a General Counsel, or City Manager or City Attorney, or even a single member of the City Council. You need a pipeline to the means of introducing legislation, and most preferably one who is sympathetic to the cause of gun rights. If you can determine that by reading bios or researching public statements before making contact, that much the better. And when you do make the contact, be sure to provide full documentation of your case with references to and quotations of state law and court cases. This kind of approach impresses bureaucrats and is most likely to get results. If you want help with a presentation feel free to PM me.
