I was driving north on I-5 at Southcenter at around 3:45ish when I looked up to see 4-choppers in the air cirlcling the Tukwila area.  I continued up the freeway to see multiple LEO's leaving Seattle (from the Memorial, I guess) but a few of the Tukwila PD cruisers were lights-on and flying, while the majority of the other agencies were not.

I turned the radio to KOMO 1000 to see what was going on, and they announced that there had been an officer involved shooting in Tukwila that was in connection with the Officer Brenton investigation.  They also said that the 'person of interest' (who now had a bullet or more in him) was now being taken to a local hospital.

As they said this, I saw a Medic One coming up the freeway behind me, being escorted by one King County Sheriff cruiser and one Tukwila PD cruiser headed towards the James Street exit (towards Harborview), and since I was headed to Harborview as well (on business), I was able to catch up to the convoy just as they had parked at the ER Ambulance entrance and were unloading the suspect.  Quite an interesting afternoon.

I hope the guy survives so that (if he is the shooter) he can face justice for what he has done to a family, department, and community.

Cold blooded murderers should never be locked up, they should just be hanged after they are found guilty.

Our society has gotten way to soft on violent criminals.

If this guy they got is indeed the murderer of Officer Brenton, and he doesn't get the death penalty, I'm going to be pissed something fierce.

+1 Hang em high.

- Agree that we are way to soft on criminals, and inhumanly violent offenders should be dispatched with as soon as found guilty. Maybe given 6 months to prove innocent under some strange circumstances...

Yeah that's hardcore.. but why do we keep monsters and demons in closets and little boxes anyways ??

You know, I have no problem with a grace period to allow for the appeals process, but NO-ONE should ever be locked up for life. If a person is deemed so dangerous that they cannot be rehabilitated in any amount of time and released back to society as a citizen, then they need to be put to death.

My idea is that anyone that would normally be given a life sentence, instead be given 20 years to rehabilitate or die. No parole, no reprieve, just 20 years flat and if they cannot show that they can be released safely, hang them.

Of course, this doesn't preclude anyone from just being given the death penalty straight out by a jury, but I think a "life sentence" is just idiotic.

i guess he is linked to an arson by what he left at the shooting. also had bomb making materials and a couple rifles one a military style "assault" rifle. also believe he may have set off a few explosives in his neihborhood and owned the d210 and a police style crown vic.

I really hate how he is getting more attention then Officer Brenton and Sweeney.

Take it from me, I have personal experience in this, he will get attention until trial, then Brenton and Sweeney will get a little attention, but after sentencing both will, unfortunately, be forgotten until another officers in the area loses his life.

Our Due Process Right is one of many guaranteed by the Constitution, and includes the right to appeal to a higher court.

You can't pick and choose which Constitutional rights you support. You must support all Constitutional rights with equal zeal, or risk any credibility you have in supporting only certain rights.

Ok, Understood.

I'm all for due process, but when due process has been delivered, so justice needs to be, and we have an unequal level of due process to justice in this country right now.

I agree there, also. I just think we need to let the criminal justice system handle this. IF he's found guilty I think he should be executed in the most expeditious manner possible.

AND I think the number of appeals should be limited and processed within a given length of time, say 2 years (just for an example).

And agree too about due process and equal constitutional support across all it's writings. I just firmly believe that after due process has run it's course, that excessively violent offenders should be disposed of and not kept around for some misplaces sense or morality in not relieving this realm of an evil being. If we didn't keep the seriously dangerous offenders, then we would have room for the less dangerous ones that SHOULD spend 20 years in jail and/or released if punishment served... Flip side.. I also believe that if you served your time, then that's it, your done, all rights restored period. If your dangerous enough to not own a gun, then you should either be in jail or disposed of properly. -- Harsh, yes... but that's how i feel.... we should also have A LOT less laws... it should be a lot harder to actually BE made into a criminal via too many laws, and with less laws, come stiffer penalties for breaking the big ones..... America is supposed to be "land of the free, home of the brave" yes ?? where did that ever go?? Too many laws, too easy to be made into a criminal, and way to easy on the REAL criminals... Something is seriously wrong here.
