As a few of you know there are a few of us who OC here in our small college town of Pullman.  Dave the Welder has been doing this around here before me, and as I understand it there might be one other guy around town doing it.  I've OC'd around town a little bit now and then but after this weekend's lunch in Spokane I'll be going more and more.

Now onto the report so to speak.

Last week I talked my roommate into OCing for dinner and a little around town.  He was hesitant to go and worried about the reactions.  We went to dinner at a great little place called Golden Teryaki.  The people there are very nice and the service is hard to beat.  No one said anything to us the entire time we were there.  There was even an off duty cop who walked in when we were paying and he didnt even seem to bat an eye.  Next stop was Dismores grocery store.  We got a few looks but no one said anything in the store untill I was standing in the check out line.  When the guy infront of me finished paying he turned to look at me and I think he was startled when he say my gun.  I know this because he just said "Holy Sh!t!" and headed for the door real quick.  I wanted to say something to him, but he was gone before I thought about it.  Blockbuster video was next and again, not a problem.

Every time I OC it just shows me how oblivious people are to what is around them.  I swear most people just dont notice my gun on my hip.  Hopefully my roommate will join the board soon and start posting.  He had a great time at the Spokane lunch yesterday.

The guy in the grocery line is a perfect example of what I consider "sheeple", even though I think it's derogatory to call anyone that is in condition white that name.

He didn't even think that you might have been an off-duty cop, just "gun, bad, RUN!"

It's this kind of thinking that is most detrimental to our RKBA and the one we have to try and change the most. Sure, your fence-sitters need to be "converted", but the ones that are so ignorant of the facts as to fear the mear thought, much less the sight of, a firearm are in desperate need of education.

I've opencarried in Pullman many a times. Denny's, Pizza Hut, the movie theater, Dismores, and a few other places I can't think of on top of my head. I think I've pretty much OC'd everywhere in Moscow, too! I'll be out there the weekend of March 14th-18th if anyone wants to meet up.

Oh god, Dismals! I remember when they decided to stop selling porno mags because the giant church of the holy stadium got enough folks on city council elected and able to pressure local businesses. Before that, wow, they had quite a selection to appeal to the college-aged over-sexed males. LOL.

FYI, if Tidymans is still open over in Moscow, it is worth the drive.

And I also remember there was a grocery store in the strip mall across from the funeral parlor and the giant church/stadium. They closed up in the early 90's, but hell they even sold ammo!

I'd like to take a day trip over in Eastern WA sometime, it's been a while since I've been over the mountains.  Are the passes clear now, or do you still have to have chains and all that nonsense to get over there?

Where is a good place to go and just spend the day seeing the sights, maybe get a little shooting in if there is open area to shoot at?  Hell, if I ever do make it over that way, I wouldn't mind meeting up with you guys; probably won't be this month though......

Compmanio365: The passes should be clear and the weather over here is getting better and better by the week.  Give it a week or two and it should be great to drive over the mountains and see the "other" Washington.  Tri-Cities is a great place to go to if you want to tour winerys, but that's about it.  Spokane has LOTS to see and is a fun place to visit (heck, I was just there visiting and OCing on Saturday).  The drive from Tri-Cities to Dayton or Walla Walls are both very pretty.  Wherever you go, I can take you out shooting, and I'm sure several other OCers will come along.  I can also give you a place to stay if you need.  Just let me know the when and wheres.

G27: I've got a friend up here that's a former fighter pilot and owns a bit of land.  I have an open invitation to come out and shoot on his land (I helped him put up a series of solar pannels).  Plus, you can ask him about having to eject from his fighter jet.  It's a great story.

Hello, everyone.  I'm a new guy (obviously) and a student at WSU.  I normally carry concealed, but I had no idea Pullmanites would be so receptive to open carry, since it's a college town and college students tend to be liberal.

I have a Bersa Model 85 in .380, but I will be upgrading to something in .40 caliber when I get some money.

Anyway, are there any good gun stores in the area?  I haven't found any, and maybe I'll see ya around with your OC weapon.

There aren't any good gun stores in the area that I know of, but if you're willing to drive an hour to Spokane, there's more great gun stores than you can see in an entire day of OCing (trust me, I tried a few weekends ago).  You should meet up with us this weekend when we go shooting.

Dave, I'm recovering from the flu and would like to see about putting shooting off until Sunday if at all possible.  I'm still in the Tri-Cities.  I've been on my CNC mill the last few days cranking out a prototype stock for a friend's AK and am a little behind because of the flu.

Pardon me for butting-in and kinda hijacking the thread... but are you able to do custom designs?!

I have wanted a tabuk stock for my Romanian AES-10 stamped receiver, but Ironwood Designs says that it can't be done (or they don't want to) and only sell it for the Yugos with a milled receiver mounting block. From looking at the design, I don't see why it would be a problem to skeletonize a normal stock if you used laminate as a base. Admittedly, it wouldn't be any good for bashing-in heads, but that's not the point, as I'm trying to turn this into a Designated Marksman-type rifle.

Heck, if I had the cash flow, I'd design it to integrate into the Romanian wire side-folding stock hinge. A wood skeletonized side-folder... now that's just drool-worthy!

Not a problem, just PM me and we'll talk it over.  Before I came to WSU for the final two years of my engineering degree, I got two year AAS degrees in both welding and machining from Columbia Basin College.  I own a CNC vertical milling machine, a plasma cutter, and a Miller Dynasty inverter welder.  I looked at the tabuk design and I think that it will be very easy to convert a regular stock into one of them.  Also, forget the romanian wire side-folding stock hinge, I'll just make you one.  One of the things that I'm prototyping right now on my friend's AK stock is my own design of side-folder.  For that matter, we could just build the rifle from the ground up.  A US made designated marksman AK would look pretty nice in your collection.

Back to topic, Dr. Fresh and JB, that's plan on going shooting on Sunday.  I'll PM both of you my number in the morning.

Do y'all go the range in Moscow?  What's their policy on showing up to the range with a concealed carry piece?
