You have to fight for the area that has the sign.  The best spots are taken...

I guess it could all just be who you know...

In buisness now.   Our sign is up.  Yay

This picture was not photoshopped.  My girfriend wasn't happy when I parked next to an exploded deer carcas to take this.      I could only make the pic super tiny or this big.  I suppose if I knew what I was doing I could...   sorry.

Edited to get rid of super large pic.   Thanks Rock, how'd u get it that size?

The weather forecast for the 27th looks beautiful! "Mostly sunny and nice, High 81". No more mention of high humidity. So c'mon out and enjoy a great day working on your tan and publicizing our 2A rights.

To sum up what we know for sure about the day, our section of roadway is just north of Eagle, WI on Hyw 67 and runs on both sides of the road from cty C northward to the first intersection with cty D. We're going to meet at 10:00am in Ottawa Park by going left at the next intersection with cty D just north of our section and then making the first left into the park. Park in the first parking lot you come to. The following maps should hopefully make it all more clear.

Our Cleanup Route and Park Location

Closeup Detail of Park

So far the following people have committed to being there:
  1. Parabellum
  2. Clint Starin
  3. NC-Tastic  please email mr.tastic at yahoo dot com
  4. skamp
  5. FLR72
  6. Fast Ed
  7. Johnny Stiletto
  8. WI Patriot
  9. BJA
  10. AaronS
  11. pvtschultz
  12. davegran
  13. GlocksRfun
  14. Pezhead992
  15. Sajuuk
  16. Sajuuk's wife
  17. ROOK WI
  18. Geoff
  19. Mugenlude
  20. uncledrew23
I haven't been able to contact NC-Tastic, so I don't know if he will show up. Neither his email nor his PM work. Johnny Stiletto is getting the supplies for us and will get some extras in case of last minute volunteers; but if we run out of reflective vests, you won't be able to participate unless you bring your own.

After we meet and organize at Ottawa park, and then we'll drive out and park along the road (at least 3 feet from the pavement when parking on the highway) at our respective starting points, gun up, and get to work. If we work toward the south first on the East side of the road and then north on the West side(Groups shall work on only one side of the road at a time. ), our sidearms will always be visible to the passing traffic, unless you are a lefty. Lefties can start at the southern end of our section of highway and work their way north.

It's a beautiful park and somebody mentioned a picnic afterward, so if you want to bring stuff for that, we could have some social time when we're done. I don't know if we can open carry at the park.

As far as I've heard, nobody has volunteered to contact the media or bring a video camera to record the event. Too bad, this would be a newsworthy event in Wisconsin and keep our cause visible. Anybody with press connections?

Thanks, and see you there!  :celebrate

Dave

I've contacted the JS and will submit a news story to Fox 6.  I'm up for a little socializing afterwards.  Even if they did have a parks firearms ban, they can't enforce it.  If you aren't comfortable, you could always disarm yourself when we are done.  I will be bringing my Suburban (with 8 passenger capacity) so I can ferry people if needed.

ETA:

I will be commuting from 'Stallis, so if anyone wants to carpool, we can meet at my place and I'll drive.

Thanks for your efforts, pvtschultz! We need all the press we can get to make the general public aware of 2A issues in Wisconsin.

The good news is that Town of Ottawa does not have any ordinances or park rules prohibiting firearms.  If we were to have any sort of social afterwards, it would be wise to get a permit for private use, IMO.  Here's a link to their park ordinances:

Chapter 9 has some regulations on discharging a firearm, but since none of us intend to do so, we should be in the clear.

<edit>Waukesha county has a ban on carrying in its parks, but I do not believe that would apply  to the town park</edit>

I will be at the cleanup as well.  Do we have a food sign up sheet for the picnic?

geoff

Thanks for stepping forward, Geoff! I've added you to the list of 2A volunteers!

As far as I have heard, there is no food signup sheet. It looks like the picnic will mainly be social time; so unless there is a lot of interest in organizing the eating part, it'll be Bring Your Own Food (BYOF).
The other thing is that the park will probably be crowded on such a beautiful day, so there may not be any picnic tables available. That suggests Bringing Your Own Chair (BYOC).

The park rules run to two pages and have stuff in them like,

"(3). (C)  Male persons are prohibited from using the restrooms designated for female use; and female persons are prohibited from using the restrooms designated for male use."  :uhoh:

Since we all have shown more common sense than most citizens, as long as we don't park on the grass or refer to ourselves as a "Private Party"(Which would require a permit) we should be good to go. "We're just a bunch of public service volunteers who spent the day working in the hot sun and we needed a nice place to rest and relax.... If you like to read regulations, pvtschultz found them here: http://www.townofottawa.com/ordinances/chapter-08.pdf

:celebrate Bring Plenty Of Water!!!  :celebrate

Thanks,

Dave
