He can't legally Open Carry in a tavern without special permission. He can't legally have anything to drink and OC (Watertown thread). If the guy was OCing without having been in the tavern or drinking and got shot defending himself, he couldn't legally go into the tavern with his sidearm and ask for help. He couldn't legally sit in his car while armed, and would have to disarm before entering, making him an ideal victim at that point.
Why is the law in favor of criminals? Because we elect crooks to office.

It think it has more to do with that then the idiots who get in office. Criminals have no real fear of consequences so they can act and do as they please. In a way they are more free then we are.
Anti-gun legislation is feel-good BS designed to make the sheeple think they're safe. Sheeple : "I don't need a gun, those things are evil! The law and police will protect me."

Arrests in Shooting Near Marquette Campus
Story Created: Aug 11, 2009
Two of three suspects involved in a shooting and robbery of a man less than a block from Marquette University have been arrested. The robbery and shooting happened shortly after midnight Tuesday Morning near the corner of North 16th Street and West Kilbourn Avenue, less than a block from the Marquette campus. Milwaukee police say the three suspects tried to rob a 25-year-old man from Milwaukee as he was walking near the corner. As the robbery happened, one of the suspects shot the victim. The man's relative disarmed the suspect, and the injured victim tried shooting at the suspects. A Marquette student administered first aid until paramedics came to treat the victim. He went to a local hospital and is expected to survive. The relative reached Marquette Public Safety, who then found and detained two of the three suspects until Milwaukee Police came on the scene. Neither the suspects nor the victim are Marquette students. Police are still investigating the incident.
the suspects took off when the victim got the gun from them.. could have prevented the whole thing by carrying himself..
they can say that crime is down all they want.. that doesnt change the fact that arming the law-abiding citizens will reduce crime more and faster!

Looks like the Marquette public Safety did a good job and were on the ball. Flynn must have gotten up and went home early. His troops seemed to waste no time getting there to arrest the crap. There are probably some pretty good guys on the MP force. I agree if the guy had been OC this may not of happened and your jails would have that many less fools in them.

Robbery target kills 17-year-old suspect
By Sharif Durhams of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Aug. 13, 2009 11:22 a.m.
A 17-year-old Milwaukee boy was shot and killed as he and a 19-year-old associate tried to rob a man on the city's north side early Thursday, police said.
The teen who died apparently shot the older teen during the robbery attempt, according to a Milwaukee Police Department spokesman.
The shootings occurred about 2:50 a.m. in the 2600 block of N. 1st St. When the suspects confronted a 22-year-old man on the street he pulled out his own gun and shot the younger teen, police Sgt. Mark Stanmeyer said. Somehow, the older teen was shot and received a non-life threatening injury, Stanmeyer said.
The surviving robbery suspect and alleged victim were arrested, Stanmeyer said. The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office will review the incident to determine whether charges will be brought against the robbery victim, the sergeant said.
Stanmeyer did not identify any of the people involved in the incident.
Anyone know what to make of this one?

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) — A man working in a West Allis clothing store was shot in the chest and killed during an apparent robbery attempt Saturday.
West Allis police Capt. Tom Kukowski says a call came in around 1:30 p.m. from someone reporting that four people were leaving Dame’s Spot, with one carrying a cash register or a box. He says responding officers found the victim outside the store with a gunshot wound.
Kukowski says the victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He says a witness reports the suspects left in a black sports utility vehicle. Police were still trying to determine the victim’s identity Saturday afternoon.
Where were the West Allis police?

Tomahawk Wisconsin, August 2009:
Man in FL gets call from friends vacationing at his WI lake home "Someone has been living in your home while you're away, what should we do?"
2 attractive females go away for a weekend up north at a friends vacant lake home with his permission, upon unlocking the door they find all sorts of stuff inside that does not belong there.
Someone is obviously squatting at the residence? Where are the squatters? When will they show up? What will they do when they get here? Ahs anything been stolen? Are they using it as a meth-lab? Are they dangerous?
It just happened, I was involved with trying to get things figured out for the owner and getting the home secured for the visitors.

Barrett recovering from attack after leaving State Fair with family
Updated: 10:32 a.m. | Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett was recovering Sunday morning after he was beaten with a pipe after leaving the Wisconsin State Fair with his family Saturday night.
To bad he hates guns... Good thing for him the man only had a pipe, and not a gun, or our Mayor would be dead...
I guess there is no need for a gun. Just use your head to stop the pipe...Last edited on Sun Aug 16th, 2009 04:35 pm by AaronS

Ga. animal lovers killed by pack of wild dogs
LEXINGTON, Ga. (AP) - A shredded piece of shirt, some strands of hair and bloodstained dirt are all that remain along the rural stretch of road where authorities believe a pack of wild dogs fatally mauled an elderly couple.
Sherry Schweder, a 65-year-old animal lover, was taking an evening stroll when she was attacked. Her husband, Lothar Schweder, a retired professor, had gone out in search of her.
Paramedics who came to the grisly scene Saturday morning found the suspected attackers standing guard. While it's unclear exactly what happened because there were no witnesses, officials have rounded up 16 dogs they believe were involved.
It was the same group of medium-sized, mixed-breed dogs Sherry Schweder worried about, wondering if anyone was taking care of them as she saw them wander around.
Experts say the attack is extremely rare - so rare "you are more likely to killed by a bolt of lightening than by a dog," said Adam Goldfarb, a spokesman for the Humane Society of the United States.
The feral dogs didn't belong to anyone, but a man who owns a house at the end of the road had been feeding them, said Oglethorpe County sheriff's Capt. Shalon Huff. The man told authorities the dogs never behaved aggressively toward him, and he did not believe the dogs had killed the couple.
"Sometimes the pack mentality can play a role. One dog gets aroused and that revs up his buddies," Goldfarb said.
The dogs were aggressive toward authorities who rounded them up using traps and tranquilizers, Huff said. At one point, a group of them cornered two people against a vehicle. There were no signs the dogs were rabid, Huff said.
Authorities believe Sherry Schweder went for an evening walk near her home on Friday, perhaps looking for one of her own dogs that had been missing for about a month.
At some point, Schweder was attacked. Preliminary autopsy results showed she died from animal bites.
Authorities believe Lothar Schweder, 77, later went looking for her in his car and came across his wife's body. There were signs of a scuffle, several shoe prints and what appeared to be paw prints in the mud, authorities said.
He may have tried to pull out his cell phone before he succumbed to the attack, Madison County Coroner James Mathews said. Autopsy results show Lothar Schweder also died of injuries from multiple animal bites.
A group of Jehovah's Witnesses walking in the same area discovered the bodies Saturday morning and called police. Four days later, a faint unpleasant smell still hung in the air.

Store robbed Saturday morning on Mitchell St.
By Mike Johnson of the Journal Sentinel
Sept. 5, 2009 10:48 a.m. | Two masked men, one of them brandishing a pistol, robbed a store on W. Historic Mitchell St. about 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Milwaukee Police said.
The men forced employees and customers of the Get It Now store, 1202 W. Historic Mitchell, to the floor and took jewelry, wallets and possibly computer equipment, according to information police broadcast over their radios as they searched for the suspects.
The men fled the store through a rear door and got in a white getaway car that was driven by a woman.
They must have had the guns unloaded and encased until they got into the store, what with all the schools around 12th and Mitchell.

Nope! Noe need for a gun in Milwaukee. Chief "Furor" Flynn says all we need is "Good" Police work.
I guess you don't need to defend yourself becuase if you get killed by a serial killer, some 20 years later the Milwaukee police will be able to solve the crime and give your grieving family some closure.
By the way did you like the way that Barrett kept showing his broken hand so he can keep the media attention focused on what a hero he is?
I like how Flynn points out that there were over 200 Homicides in this very same neighborhood.
Nope! No need for a gun.
Oh and let's not forget about the burbs:
