I just wanted to see how others kept their gun while in their cars?

Heres mine, I made my own bracket to fit the parking brake handle on my 96 Z. I use the same holster on the bracket as I do on my hip for continuity of movement. Its a blackhawk, you need to push a release button to get the gun, this, with the metal bracket should keep the gun where it belongs in a crash. I have it mounted in such a natural position that I could look the other way, put my hand out, and the gun practically puts itself in my hand. the release puts your finger inline with the trigger guard automatically. The gun is a springfeild armory  XD .40 subcompact 12+1.

I have been using a plastic case where you have to have the mag out of it to even have my hipoint 45 in it.Then I use a leather tool bag which is big enough to put my loose bullets magazine, wallet. I have a 91 volvo and they have a small container attached to the seat to I just put the bag there its pretty sweet.
I just watched street kings and point break I cannot remember which movie this scene is from but Keanu Reves opens his trunk and he has a lock box screwed into the top of his trunk I think thats a good idea. Cheaper than dirt has bankers lock boxes that would be a good idea.

I am hoping things change in Ohio I know this is prob a better state than most when it come to OC with out a CCW but I really think that I should be able to OC in the car.I think they would just have to extend the duty to inform to if you have a loaded gun in the car idk thats my two cents.
And btw your totally right I dont since I do not have my CCW and I transport while driving.

I have a Dodge Ram 1500.  I keep my Ruger GP100 357 in a nylon bianchi holster tucked barrel down between the drivers and center seat.  It places the handle just in front of the seatbelt release.  I doesn't move when I brake hard.  I wrapped the holster in rubber matting like what you use in your kitchen drawer.  This way if I pull the gun out, the holster stays put.

That's the truck gun.  I carry a P85 9mm on my hip when I'm out.

I attached a small gun-safe to my truck's roof, on the headboard above my rear-view mirror. Accessible in a few seconds by a digital keypad with one hand. Magazine in easy reach.

My state requires an 'opaque wrapper' and ammo separated from pistol for weapons transportation, if you don't have a CPL. I went them one better.

Yeah I knw what your saying Brass Mag I think there should just be an over all federal transport law. That says loaded in plain sight and duty to inform that it nothing more nothing less, nationwide gun control is a good thing when its positive towards guns and the private citizen doing the bidding on gun legislation. If every state could get on board with that then things would be great, ohh yeah and no tax on guns or ammo and a law that makes any new negitive gun legislation banned now thats a  gun ban muhahhahahaha.

Im just across the river from WA and I have a WA nonres CPL, and as I understand it, w/o a WA CPL or one recognized by WA, the mag can be loaded, but it must then be stored separate from the gun.

Basically, the mag is moot. Ammo separate from gun, period.

If you do have a license, the gun must be within your immediate control while loaded. i.e. on your person or close to your body.

Another tickling point can be if you have a front passenger.

That's easily in reach for your passenger and I'm sure someone can give you a hard time about it.  Just an observation.

Check your local laws.

In Washington State you need a "license" to carry (OC or CC) in a vehicle.

For Washington that's a Concealed Pistol License (CPL).

No problems here in KY. Stored neatly between drivers seat and console. Glock 27 with 9 in the mag. and one in the pipe or Para .45 Warthog same way.

In Washington you just cant have a round loaded in the chamber or a loaded mag in the gun. No need to separate anything. Only reason you would need to keep it in an opaque container is if you are 18-20.

I take it Kentucky is a free as can be state? so in Kentucky without a CCW LTCF or whatever they wanna call it you can have a loaded weapon in the vehicle,I think I might be moving there. I hate having to do the magazine shuffle everytime I enter or exit my car.I almost wanna get a CCW in Ohio to drive while carrying but I dont need any state intrusion in my life.

This is true.  Without any license needed, the firearm can be carried loaded either in the factory installed glovebox (unlocked or locked your choice), or may be in plain view, but may not be concealed on or about teh person, not under seat or in console.

Personally, I leave mine in my IWB holster concealed when i drive.  If it is a long drive, it is in my console.

Dude thats freakn awesome and makes complete sense I dont understand why I cannot be loaded while driving, ive brought this idea up to others that if they are concerned for LEOS then if you are carring loaded you just have to inform the LEO same as concealed in Ohio. I think Ohio used to have that law a couple of years before I moved here but I am unsure.
Is louisville a nice city? What do you like most about it?
