What is national ammo day?
It is a nationwide BUYcott of ammunition. You buy ammunition. 100 Rounds a person. The goals of Ammo Day:
The goal of National Ammo Day is to empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Make your support of the Second Amendment known--by voting with your dollars!
There are an estimated 75 MILLION gun owners in the United States of America. If each gun owner or Second Amendment supporter buys 100 rounds of ammunition, that’s 7.5 BILLION rounds in the hands of law-abiding citizens!
The gun/ammunition manufacturers have been taking the brunt of all the frivolous lawsuits, trying to put these folks out of business. Well, not if we can help it! And we CAN help it by buying ammunition on November 19!

no historical significance that I know of, and a quick review of the website(s) doesn't show any national recognition, sponsorship, or validation of any sort. I have never heard of "Nation of Volunteers" before now, and again, it appears that it could easily be a small group of friends (or even a single individual) with no national backing or support.
Like 'National Buy a Gun Day' (April 15th) was started by an individual as a 'personal statement' and has gathered a following; of course April 15th has a significance...
**[I'm researching as I type this....]**
I first learned of National Buy a Gun Day on http://www.theothersideofkim.com; and if I'm not mistaken, it was Kim duToit that started that, as I research, it would seem that Kim also has a and in the Nation of Volunteers Foundation and it would not surprise me if he was the catalyst of 'AmmoDay'. And if it truly was Kim that started it (picked the day..) then I am SURE that there is some significance, I will let you know if I find it!

If the stars of money and in stock ammo align, I will definitely participate. I was just sort of curious.

Yeah, I think it was started by the duToits (Kim and Connie) back in 2005, I seem to vaguely remember it now, still looking through Kim's site for the posting, but not finding it yet... If you haven't been to Kim's site, I highly recommend it, although he is retiring at the end of the month It will be a loss to us, but I understand their reasoning.....

Guess I jumped the gun. Pun intended.
But don't worry if they are out of your favorite flavor on the 19th and can't get your quota of 100. I bought enough to cover about 40 of ya.

How appropriate. My half-case of .40 Federal HST is due to arrive from Ammunition To Go on the 19th.

M1, best I can find on 54R at the moment is AIM:
http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/7_62x54R.html
I already have some of the Bulgarian, shoots fine in my Mosins and SVT-40. It's 1950's production, may be corrosive. I recently ordered several cans of the Russian. The Polish is the same price, but you get a small price break on multiple cans of the Rusky.

I usually buy mine in bulk of 5k from a local supplier($700 - $750). Price is much better and I don't have to deal with the UPS guy.

Thanks for the laugh. As for fair warning. If your life depends on it, the only warning should be the bang... And at that point they better hope the round hasn't hit them before they hear that noise...
