Hey all you Last Frontier OCers, just wondering what ya been up to. Me, it's work and school.  I haven't really OCd in a long while, I still don't have the courage to do it regularly. CC is no problem for me though, for obvious reasons.  Anyway, not much else to say really, except be careful out on the roads this winter. I'm surprised it hasn't snowed yet.

Hey guys!

I'm new here and just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. It is really nice to see a few OCers up here, especially in Anchorage.

I've lived in Anchorage for 13 years (military) and absolutely love Alaska. Fish all summer and hunt whenever I have the time:)

I am 18, shoot fairly often, and was looking at starting to open carry later on this winter. Has anyone carried around this age? Should I expect problems with LEOs or other people??    I don't look 18, and most people think I am more like 20-21. However I would like to avoid any problems (age griping) if possible. I'd be carrying either a Glock 20, Ruger P90, or a S&W 2" revolver.

Thanks guys,

Jon

I'd have to find the laws dealing with underage carry.

I did find it before but don't remember the various limits.  There are steps for when certain ages can carry (based on whether you are in town, the woods or home).

I don't remember offhand if there was a step from 18 to 21 for handguns.   If you don't know the rules regarding that already I advise making very sure you know before you carry at all.

I had looked into it, and found that there was no age step up between 18 and 21 and the only restrictions seem to be no CCing under 21.

I've never found anything in Alaska that has to do with location restrictions unless one is under 18. I've checked the state statutes/constitution, is there anywhere else I should be checking for this type of information? Somewhere I might be missing?

Thanks,

Jon

If you found them for under 18 then that'll be what I was thinking of.  I remembered age restrictions, just not what the ages were.

Yes, I have found some pertaining to being under 18. No possession unless in the field type of thing, as well as the usual no concealment except when out in the field.

Do you know of anyone who has carried under 21? I haven't talked to anyone who has, however to be fair I have never encountered ANYONE open carrying in Anchorage that wasn't a off-duty LEO.   I would imagine under-21 OC is probably seen more often in the village areas?

I did buy ALOT of stuff for fishing but it was all for the boat with company money. I am gonna go back down to homer in a week or two to build a new alarm system for the boat(bilge levels engine vitals fire, that kinda stuff). I "float" around alot work where"when" i want and so forth. if i get hired to the apd then so be it that would be hella cool. but other then that I just wander around and work when i need to.

Helps allot when you live with your parents huh?

The fishing is not out of homer, the boat fishes homer in the winter but in the summer I take it across the gulf and fish it between juneau and ketchican.

you must have been down there with the guard doing touch and goes at the airport?

Well guys, did my first 'real' OC today. :)

It went much better than I thought it would, got one or two sideways glances but besides that, nothing.

hit wallieworld, freddies and homedepot while I tried to get the christmas shopping done.

Gotta say I LOVE the Serpa, expensive but it was completely worth it.:)
