As most of us at the Burton picnic have heard, there was a bit of a "falling out" between my son Steve and my talk show producer Steve. As a result I may wind up trying to host the show by myself, on occasions when Venator cannot be there. This would be a difficult tasks for me as a solo host. BORING!! I would like to pose a question to the Mich forum;

Would anyone like to join me and co-host the show, either one or more on a rotating basis as Venator does or if it continues to work, maybe as a permanent co-host. If you don't wish to answer on the forum or have questions, PM me or give me a call ** 989-725-1695**

I am really kinda bumbed out over this event. The show was really starting to draw an audience and I would hate to quit at this point but if we can't get something to work out; I guess we're done with the show. :uhoh:

I thank you all for your support.

Don't worry about not having a co-host if you need someone give me a call or PM me.  I have weekends off now from work, and I'm more then willing to help our cause.   If they don't let you use the studio anymore I can also figure something out about that too.  Technology is a great thing we can do it out of your or my house without a problem.

Thanks for the response guys; I'm hoping to talk to my producer today and try to work something out. Nothing is for sure just yet. I just thought I would throw the question out there to get a feel on anyone's interest to come on the show. Even if we get things settled and back to normal, I would still like to have the forum members who would like to, come on the show and give your views and experiences. I'm not counting this show out just yet, but I like to have alternate plans in place before an issue arises. I will post more info sometime this evening as soon as I can get some answers.

It's pretty simple. Keep it fresh by having different people every week if you have to. Arrange special guests from other states even. There are plenty of people on OCDO that would be delighted to call in for a while and discuss things. Just don't quit the show!

Hell, if you have to, make it geared towards nation wide and talk about all kinds of stuff.

JUST DON'T QUIT, YOUR SHOW IS AWESOME AND FULL OF EVEN MORE POTENTIAL!!!

Thanks for the support and encouragement guys, but it's not looking good. I sent the producer an email and told him to call me to try and figure this out. That was Sunday evening. No phone call as of yet. Part of the problem(s) is he is trying to do too much at one time and hence not getting anything done properly. I had talked to him a couple of times before about getting the shows posted on the different web sites he has listed for the show and as you may have noticed he still hasn't edited and joined the "piece meal" show from last month into a single video; or posting them promptly. He said he had been too busy to get to it. Setting up my show's web page is another. If he can't keep focused on what needs to be done, then there's no hope of accomplishing anything. This is the basis of the problem between my son and the producer (car show / no show fiasco). So if he's not interrested enough to call me and work things out, I guess we're done. The next show is supposed to be this Sat. so if I don't get a call by Fri. pm, I won't be doing the show. Too bad to, the producer even said this show was top of his list for viewing above all his other shows. Therefore I'm kinda curious--- this being true--- wouldn't you do all you could and focus your energy to keep your "Best show" going? Go figure! I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I will keep you posted.

Jerry

I sent another email to producer Steve. I guess if I don't hear back from him by Fri.  The talk show is done. If he does want to keep it going, I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I will keep you informed.

Well sorry guys but I guess the talk show is OVER and done with. I have sent Steve Meyers emails twice to contact me if he wanted to continue the show and he hasn't bothered to call or send me an email back, so he must not be interested in doing the show anymore. And I'm not going to beg him for the chance to continue.

I thank you all for your support while it lasted. Maybe we informed a few people and did some good in this short time.

Jerry,
Would it be possible to compile a show "off-air"?  Another gun-rights podcast I listen to does something like this, they let people call-in via Skype, and leave voicemails. The host then compiles the show with his commentary and selections from "off-air" call-ins. Skype voicemail is like $3 a month.  Or maybe there is a free version available somewhere.

I would hate to see this show go away.  I was looking forward to listening to this weekends edition.
I wish I could step in and help this weekend, I am off camping in Holland.  Really hope that someone is able to step up and keep this rolling!

Damn Jerry, sorry to hear that.  Perhaps it's best for this to happen now, considering the car show and all.  There must be an alternative(s) for the show as others have mentioned.

It's official; TALK SHOW IS OVER!:uhoh:

I haven't heard anything from Steve Meyers, so as far as I'm concerned; we're done. I wish he would have considered at least calling me and try to work something out but I guess not.:banghead: Thanks for all your support guys. Hopefully our "outings" will help to continue to spread the word.

I'm baaack:celebrate.  Talk show a  GO, GO

NEXT SHOW: Sat, June 28th, 3pm

I just got a call from John Wilson (assit. producer), Steve Meyers had a family emergency and was out of state for the last few days. Once again I made the mistake of assumption, but I didn't know. Apparently John was supposed to call me and he forgot. Steve wants to continue the show very badly (almost as much as me). So, my friends, I guess you can listen to my old a$$ chatter off at the mouth next week. I would still like to invite ANY of you who would like to guest host with me. Maybe someone different each show or as many as you would like to do. Hell, maybe have 2 or 3 of us and make a debate out of it. I guess anything is possible now. I can't stress enough how much all of your support has meant to me.

Thanks, Jerry

I can't say any of the facts for sure, I wasn't there. Apparently it was over the Rocky's car show scheduling fiasco. I don't want to say more than that because it's not really my business and I don't have the facts. I hope they can work past it in the future and reconcile, but for now, time and distance will help.

I'm glad to have the chance to continue to get the word out with as much useful info as we can.

Thanks, I am going to make myself a spreadsheet and list the "proposed" scheduling dates for the show. I will keep a log of sorts for those of you who are interested in being on the show. Just let me know what date is best for you and we can go from there. All shows will continue to be on Sat's. at 3pm. That's our scheduled talkshoe time. So count on the show every other Sat. starting again on the 28th.

Yeah, I'm happy about it too. :celebrate  I guess I'll be doing this show  S O L O---

Venator is still on vacation and I think I can keep from boring everybody at least once for an hour. I am working on the schedule for others to join me. As soon as I get it together, I'll post it and anyone who wants to join a show, just shoot me a PM for the date you want to join and we'll work it out from there.

Here's the proposed schedule for the talk show. If you would like to be on the show, pick a date and let me know and we will schedule you for that show. Send me a PM if you do not want to post on the thread.

Thank to all of you

Jerry

Sure, be glad to. I let them know the date and where but with the time not being set I'll just have to say sometime after noon. Unless you set the time before (or during  the show) then call the show and let me know.

Forgot to ask; Is this just a picnic or is someone going to have info to hand out?

Great show today Jerry.

I know it may have seemed awkward to you, but you came off as well prepared for the material covered. I think the only awkward times were when I was trying to call. I think it interupted the flow of the show up to that point as you were doing a good job.

Sorry I didn't have much to contribute, but you had the topic covered so well.

Thanks so very much. Yes I do have a confidence problem. I'll try to work through it. You couldn't have timed your call any better. You helped me regain my thoughts to finish the show. I welcome any calls good or bad. Debate is a healty thing. I did try to have enough info to carry me for the hour, unfortunately I forgot a couple of my info sheets and couldn't give all the info. I'll cover it more for the next show, and more prepared I promise. :banghead:   I was told that anyone who wants to co-host can also join the show by phone if you don't want to make a trip to the studio. I'm game for anything to keep the show fresh and on track, so your help in suggestions/participation or comments are welcome.

Thanks to all for your support.

OK, remind me a few days out to do a press release - but, make sure you self-advertize and recruit - you are going to get more press interest this time so a good turnout would be nice.

I was thinking about that after the show this afternoon.

I'm wondering if anyone might have a laptop they could bring providing there is service there. If we are still going at 3:00 then we could have Jerry's show. I don't have a laptop myself, and don't know for sure if JBP has service. Just a thought.

It would be nicer if there is a big turnout. Anyone know how many have given a definite commitment yet?

I know we have 4 for sure.  I will run out right now and scout out a wireless connection.

Also, has anyone listened to the podcast?  It cuts out for me around 10:16 and is dead audio for the rest of the show.  I redownloaded and and still nothing.

Just got back from the park.  Wonderful smell of hot dogs in the air.

I was able to just skirt on the edge of an apparent private wifi network.  The Park has a network I am detecting, BUT it is secured.  I cant find any information about it.  It is probably an internal network for park use.

We can call in using telephone as well, right?

I contacted Steve; he said he would replace the talkshoe audio download. Ghostrider informed me it cuts out after 10 min. into the show. You can get the whole show with video on the link posted above. I will let you know when the audio link download is repaired. Or let me know if you find it working.

For those who use itunes to manage their podcasts, a helpful hint to redownload the show is to delete this episode that needs replacing.  then collapse the Saturday Afternoon Shootout catagory, and hold shift while expanding the catagory.  That will refresh the feed and show deleted shows for re-download.

i edited my post because i put youtube instead of itunes.  posted too early in the morning.

I sent Steve another email about the last shows audio problem. I don't know what the problem is with getting it fixed, unless he's too busy. I will bring it up to him Sat. BTW: Next show; Sat,  12th @ 3.

Sorry I can't make the picnic. I hope someone can call from there and give me a live update.

Jerry posted this on the GR picnic thread, but I also think it can go here for future shows.

Alternate land line phone number for the talk show tmw.

810-208-1854    This is a direct to studio number. Give us a call and update how the picnic is going. Have a great time, I hope to make the next one.

Thanks for taking my call-in!  The picnic was great!  We had 11 people show up, and a few of the attendees talked to some people from the next table over, gave them some information about open carry and gun control in general.  Went really well!

And of course, no incidents at all.  When we were leaving, someone slowed down and opened their window, thought they were going to call me out, but they were just asking if they could have my parking spot.

It is 4 hours 52 minutes long, because for some reason the recording is full of dead air at the end.

Great show just the same, as always.:celebrate

Thanks very much guys/gals. Thanks to Brian again for co-hosting with me. I hope we are doing some good. I would still like any member who wants to, come on the show. I would like to keep the show fresh and interesting. Having guest hosts from the forum would help to do just that. Different experiences and points of view. Give it a thought and anyone who wants to, PM me or post it, I would be glad to have you.

Thanks, Jerry

Like I keep saying, I think it would be excellent to make it a show covering the entire country. Imagine having it be the voice of open carry for the whole Nation! Rather than just be a show for us Michiganian's on the forum and a few others who listen, you could talk about issues nation wide, and keep it real fresh and stay busy with new topics from all states. People would be calling in in droves. The listener base would grow exponentially. It would be awesome.

Great idea, but my knowledge is based on Michigan law and I would be concerned giving out info on other states.  As far as nationwide, it is world wide as it IS on the Internet and anyone can listen in and participate.  He have had people in the chat room from other states, so they are able to contribute.  It also is on-line to listen to after the show, so people are able to hear it at a later time.  Jerry and I would like to have people, either in person or on the phone call in and add things to talk about, it is a talk show and sometimes Jerry and are are short on words....what am I saying we both love to talk.  Still we want others to be involved.

My theory is that you don't need to be a legal expert in other states, many others are legal experts in other states. You can arrange to have people be call in co hosts for half an hour or so from thousands of miles away. Additionally, most people who visit this site and therefor might tune in and call in are already well versed in their states laws. It kind of comes with the territory when you carry a gun legally. It's not like you guys make guarantees of accuracy when you talk about the law. Seems to me the show is more of a way to encourage people to get active, and give out a very basic understanding of what you guys think the law says.

The thing is, for the most part, open carriers experience the same problems. Sure, there are extremes, like Arizona vs LA, but for the great bulk of us the main concerns are how to handle bad encounters with cops, public image, which gun/holster is the best, and other things like that. If someone had a legal question in Delaware, you could potentially look up a quick search on the web, or better still tell them how to since they obviously have it too.

I guess my main point is that if you guys want it to really branch out, you should have a plug for the show in the form of a stickied thread in general discussion.

Info is on the info and newbie page.  The show is every other Saturday at 3:00PM.

JOIN OUR TALK SHOW AND LISTEN TO PAST SHOW at these links.

http://www.flinttalkradio.com/sas.htm

Past shows can be heard here, the show (#10) on July 12th is a good one. it's not 4 hours long only about 1 hr. 40 min.  The rest is dead air.  Which some people may prefer.

Next show: July 26th @ 3pm

Do I have any volunteers for guest host to join myself and Brian for this show? Or any suggestions for show topics you would like to discuss? To keep this show fresh and going strong, we're going to need some input so as not to keep relating the same topic discussion too often.

Anything in regards to firearms is open season.  Also, rights violations in general are also on topic.  Calling in or helping to suggest/book guests would be appreciated.

Ditto to Venator: After all it is Saturday Afternoon Shootout, not Saturday Afternoon Open Carry. So any subject about firearms is fine. I started the show primarily to get the word out about OC. But don't want to restrict the subject matter or topics to just that. We are open to any ideas you guys have.

Thanks for your support, Jerry

John: Sure, be glad to have you. You don't have to know the law or much of any of the technical stuff(that's why I have Venator). Just relate some of your experiences and what "doesn't" happen, most of the time. I'm going to be pushing some long hrs. so I'll PM you the info and directions to the studio.

View the show on this link:

http://www.stickam.com/viewMovieGallery.do?uId=175398425

I just talked to John (assit. producer). since we are having so much trouble with talkshoe, they are going to switch the full show over to stickam for audio and video from now on. The stickam link above has all the previous shows listed also.

Sorry guys: on stickam, look for the abreviated-  sas 7/26. John did this for ease of posting so he uses-- sas-- instead of the shows full name.

What were the topics covered Saturday? The link appears to go to stickam, but we have to figure out which one it is. None of them appear to have dates or anything.

Just did a search, and couldn't find it.

It's funny.  I've been trying to figure out a schedule to do a blogtalkradio show for the last couple of months.  My problem is, it's usually not very quiet at my house.  I have 2 sons, ages 8 and 11, who are in and out of the house most of the day, and usually making noise until around 10 or 11 at night.  And my computer is located in the dining room, so, it's hardly a noise free environment until sometime after 11:00PM.

For those of you who are not familiar with blogtalkradio.com, you can host your own internet show there, with no more equipment needed than a phone, and a computer.  Both the host, and his guests call in.  The host has one phone number to call, and the guests have another to call.  The host can control his show via the computer.  And they recently added a "click to talk" feature that callers can use instead of their phone, so they don't have to worry about long distance charges, if they need to.

Frankly, I like Warchild's setup better.  He works in a studio, so he doesn't have to worry about unwanted background noise.

I guess I'll just have to schedule my show for late at night. :D

Edit note: fixed Warlock to Warchild

I think the Grand Haven incident would be more than enough. Just go over to the police forum that Tucker6900 posted on. They are providing plenty of material to address. That's just one place. I don't know how to get it done, but a good place to get a discussion going would be the Topix page for Grand Haven. I've tried to start topics in the past on that board here in GR, and it didn't work out well.

http://www.topix.net/forum/city/grand-haven-mi

Too bad  I don't know how to get it done, because it would be a great way to get out the information.

What happened to the show today?  I did not see it on Talk Shoe or on Stickam.

The recording I listened to today was the most recent recording on Talk Shoe.  It was the show recorded two weeks ago.

Our producer, John, is still kinda new at that. It may take a day or two for him to get the shows posted. Steve, our producer is also spending most of his time with his current political campaign. Bear with us during this transition.

I have contacted the producer and he is going to post the show if it is not up by today. If the producer's don't take more interest in getting these issues of posting taken care of I may quit doing the show altogether. It's hard to keep interes on a subject when the audience can't hear it! :uhoh:   I will keep you posted.

I really don't want to quit either. My concern is losing interest of the listeners for not being able to listen to the show because it hasn't been posted. If this is a short term problem, I can adjust. But if this is going to be an "evey show" delay, I will have a problem with that.

I'll admit that I've been unable to listen live the last few shows, but that's to be expected during the summer, and this summer I've been gone on weekends more that previous summers.

Jerry,

There are a more and more people catching onto OC lately, and now isn't the time go give up on the show, unless you just can't make it happen. Realize that it's not like other talk show hosts download to the internet. Sure some do, but not all.

Irregardless, you do what you must. If that means canceling the show, then I'll miss it while respecting and supporting your decision. TBH, I wish I could have listened live the law couple shows. I think its more enjoyable to participate in the chat room, and call in if I have anything to add.

Downloading it's nice just in case I miss it, but I think it's more important to have live listeners.

I guess they're having problems with it. I have spoken to John and they are trying to get it resolved.

Reminder: Next show is this Sat. at 3pm as usual. Hopefully things will be up and running by then.

I'll keep you all posted.

edit to update: I haven't got a hold of John about the posting for the last show. I guess I'll take it up with him tomorrow at the show. Also, I'm moving the house around this weekend (you know how wives love to change things) so I will be off line 'till I get set up again.

I so wanted to call in yesterday.  But that's the bad thing about working 3rd shift.  It really sucks when you want to do stuff during the day.  You never know when fatigue is gonna really hit you.  It might not have been so bad, but my boys kept me up until about noon. :(

Oh well, always next time.  Or until I find a BETTER job with day time hours and weekends off. :)

I couldn't find the 8/9 SAS on Stickam or TalkShoe.  The only one I found/viewed is the 8/23 SAS on Stickam.

UPDATE: John is getting with Steve to record and post the video. It was our falut, we ran over the stickam 60 min. schedule and it kicked us off. Steve is taking the recording from the back up video and transferring it to the flint talk radio videos. Sorry guys, as I said, it was kinda our fault for running over time. Steve will try and get it done by the weekend. He is really busy with his political campaign and burning time at both ends. I will keep you posted.

Yes, there kinda is. It seems every show we do has some sort of error and posts are getting farther apart each time. It's frustrating as hell. I realize Steve is moving on to other things and is very busy but it's still aggrevating.

Would somebody please explain to me just how exactly you watch the show live from the website?  Do you need to Register and Login (which I have done)?  The page I'm directed to shows all the previous SAS vids, but I can not find the link to the live SAS.

I just finished watching todays JBR Show-nice job all.

So you're saying that I need to be on the Home Page to see the live show and not on the Video Page?  If so, I'll give it a try on 11/15/08.

Thanks

The way I watch it is to go to

http://www.flinttalkradio.com/

You can click on "Listen Now", but it isn't necessary. I just went there, and the show is now playing on my PC. When it's live, you can click on "Enter Chat", underneath the small screen on the left of the PC screen.

I get a laugh or two, but the show needs to do something about that Jerry guy you have on there.  :)

BTW, Brian, a mask resembling your avatar would have been very cool.

Good show today. My thanks to Ron for showing up even if he was late. Thanks to Ghostrider for calling in. Also, I did have it correct Ghostrider. You kinda caught me off guard so I had to research to make sure. To "Articulate" (according to Webster) does mean to voice, speak, or express in a clear manner. So, yes, the officer does have to tell you what crime he suspects you of at that time. I do thank you for your input and keeping me on my toes.

Thanks, Jerry

Ghostrider: I don't know for sure. Maybe Brian can get a clarifcation on it. It may mean the officer has to verbally justify the terry stop in his report. But the way I read it... it must be at the time he stops you. I wonder.....

Jerry, IIRC, during the recent SAS you and Ron were discussing CPL renewal/Expiration/Etc and you mentioned that as long as you carry the receipt while waiting for your renewal due to your current CPL being expired, the receipt will cover you until you receive it.

This is a newsletter I received today from MCRGO and was wondering if this is relavent to your discussion Saturday:

Q: Can I allow my CPL to expire and then carry a receipt for payment of the application fee for a new license to prove that one is licensed during the "gap" of time that the new license is issued.

A:
No, this is likely a misreading of the statute that could expose one to potential criminal liability.

First of all, the CPL renewal scheme allows one to renew anytime within the year preceding expiration without any loss of time under the old license. It is obvious that this policy is designed to encourage timely renewals of the CPL.

The relevant statute does mention holding onto your receipt along with the expired CPL, but this provision does not apply unless the gun board has failed to meet its 60-day deadline to approve or reject renewals.

Therefore, unless the gun board has failed to meet it's deadline, it is not lawful to carry a concealed pistol with an expired license whether or not one has a receipt for the new license.

To ensure that one is continuously licensed, one should apply for a renewal no later than 60 days before the expiration of the current license.

MCL 28.425l
(2) The concealed weapon licensing board shall issue or deny issuance of a renewal license within 60 days after the application for renewal is properly submitted. The county clerk shall issue the applicant a receipt for his or her renewal application at the time the application is submitted. The receipt shall contain all of the following:

(a) The name of the applicant.
(b) The date and time the receipt is issued.
(c) The amount paid.
(d) A statement that the receipt is for a license renewal.
(e) A statement of whether the applicant qualifies for an extension under subsection (3).
(f) The name of the county in which the receipt is issued.
(g) An impression of the county seal.

(3) If the concealed weapon licensing board fails to deny or issue a renewal license to the person within 60 days as required under subsection (2), the expiration date of the current license is extended by 180 days or until the renewal license is issued, whichever occurs first. This subsection does not apply unless the person pays the renewal fee at the time the renewal application is submitted and the person has submitted a receipt from a police agency that confirms that a background check has been requested by the applicant.

(4) A person carrying a concealed pistol after the expiration date of his or her license pursuant to an extension under subsection (3) shall keep the receipt issued by the county clerk under subsection (2) and his or her expired license in his or her possession at all times that he or she is carrying the pistol. For the purposes of this act, the receipt is considered to be part of the license to carry a concealed pistol until a renewal license is issued or denied. Failing to have the receipt and expired license in possession while carrying a concealed pistol or failing to display the receipt to a peace officer upon request is a violation of this act.

Warlock, chime in here in case Jerry misses this.

Actually No not looking for an argument. I have a couple question regarding Opencarry.org and and the dedicated website for Michigan.

First I would like to know if anyone has any HTML codes for banners for Opencarry.org.

Also if anyone has or knows of the html embedding code for the show...

I am guessing the website has been provided by flint radio?

First off welcome to OCDO. Yes the web page is part of and provided by flinttalkradio. The owner of the site feels our show is doing so well, he set up our own site to make it easier for our listeners to access the show without going through all the videos on the flinttalkradio video page. It was done as a surprise for the hosts of the show and we had no input in the set up. I feel Steve did a good job and greatly appreciate his efforts in doing so. I have no idea what the codes are associated with our web page. My inquiry was the basis for your opening statement: "Out fo all of the members here? Thats the best we can do...Hmmmm"......If you have an implication or problem with it, please state what it is so it can be addressed. Comments, good or bad, are welcomed. But vague implications are not.
Jerry Brewer......host of The Saturday Afternoon Shootout (SAS). Have a good day. :D

I see well that answers part of my question and is great! that it is being provided for no charge and that a community radio station supports the talk show with this type of support. I was asking about the codes to further promote the show and Opencarry.com in another Michigan OPENCARRY  based website.

No problem, we appreciate your support. It is not however a "radio" talk show. It is a web podcast with audio/video available. It is provided by a private individual who started and owns flint talk radio.

Honestly Jerry, I don't know what to think about it. I think that if I hadn't seen all the shows, then it would be a great way to catch up. It looks pretty simple to navigate. Unless there is more to it than just archived shows.

I will say that both times I brought up the page today, I almost immediately heard Carson drop the f-bomb. Since I heard plenty of that when I was in the Navy, I just muted it. Just not sure if that's what you want representing your show.

I do like how you have the older shows listed so that they are easy to reference. As a suggestion, it might be a nice touch if you could provide a brief synopsis for each show listed, but that's just me trying to think of constructive input, and it isn't meant as a criticism.

I think it looks pretty cool except the fact that everything is stated as CCW/CPL including the url. Which has nohing to do with open carry or any reference to Opencarry.org. Which is why I put this together.

I think it was very kind of Steve to set up this site for the show.  It has a decent layout allowing easy access to past shows.  This will become more important as you continue to produce even more shows.

Otherwise, I have to agree with the comments regarding the domain name, the key words referring to "ccw" and "cpl," and the opening address dropping the "f-bomb."

Domain names are usually expected to reflect a "truth-in-advertising" quality to maintain a site's sense of integrity.  It would be nice if the name more closely reflected the webcast's main topic.

The Yahoo! ads are unfortunate, but provide some compensation to Flint Talk Radio.com for the use of their studio and equipment - certainly a fair exchange.

Regarding the introductory voice-over.  It would be customary to provide a link to Flint Talk, but Carson's banter should not autoplay the way it does.

That's my 2 cents (whatever its worth in this economy)...

I fully agree with all points made. As I said, Steve made this up as a surprise. We will address it this sat. at the next show and have it modified to suit our needs as stated. I take no offense to your comments, I asked and you were all kind enough to respond. My thanks.

Here is what I have figured out so far..... the Carson show is on the live stickam. Stickam always runs the last show recorded until it is replaced by the next show. It is on our web page so you can access the live stickam from there or flint talk radio. It was done this way just so we had more than one way to access the show, in view of tech difficulties we tend to have from time to time. As for the CCW/CPL.... he put both so as not to confuse those who still refer to the CPL as CCW. I will see if I can get these changed for "truth of broadcast" so to speak. As for a short synopsis of each show... it would be kinda hard to do that since we tend to cover various and multiple subjects on each show. I had also noticed not all of our shows are posted. I know we lost a couple but I will check into that also. I will try and get these issues resolved Sat. if at all possible.
Any more suggestions / comments?

If I think of any more, then I'll let you know. While I thought a synopsis would be nice, I wasn't holding out hope that it would be possible. But thanks for trying.

Good job on Saturday's show Jerry & Brian.  I wanted to call-in but did not want to take up any of the shows limited time-I knew you had a lot to cover.  And, with it being my first time at chatroom I didn't have much time to call and keep up with all that was going on.

http://www.michiganopencarry.org During the show you qouted Michigan open carry .org. Michigan, as I know of at this time does not have its own dedicated "Michigan Open Carry" Site. The Michigan FORUM is a part of Open carry.org and should be referred to as such. The closest thing Michigan has to a dedicated website is the michigan open carry myspace and http://www.miopencarry.weebly.com. Again this FORUM is a "PART" of http://www.opencarry.org  WEBSITE and to avoid confusion to others, should be referred to as such. Hope this helps. Great Show..

I cited that site miopencarry.org because it takes you to our forum, I also have it on the brochures I print out.  It's easier for people to find us here.  I make no apologies for the reference.

KK with the miopencarry.org however when you say Michigan open carry and the URL is really miopencarry.org well lets just say some people take you literally.  Whenever referring to a URL in a Radio format you should always announce the actual compete URL address... This will  help create hits that actually end up on the page you want them to go to...

Sorry, guys/gals. I have to cancel the show for this Saturday. I over did it working and shoveling snow and tore my back out. There is no way I can make the trip this week. Brian and Ron will be out of town for the holidays and you would have had to put up with me doing solo anyway. We will all be there on schedule for the next show.

The next show is scheduled for: Sat. Jan.10th @ 3 p.m.

My apologies; It truly sucks getting old. :uhoh: I thank you for your continued support and understanding.

I hate back problems. I used to have terrible back pain. When you are up to it, I'd suggest doing some back lifts to keep your back extra strong. Situps are an awesome way to add some extra support too. It's worked for me for the past 2 years straight. Take it easy on the snow too.

By the way. believe it or not, I've even enjoyed the solo work you did.

Those godawful phone calls split my eardrums!

Try being the one with the headphones on!!!!

We are trying to get these problems worked out, but as I said on the show, we are not the only ones who use the studio. From now on we are going to check the phone lines and input at the same time we do the pre-show sound/mike checks. We do apologize for the problems and will try our best to correct them. We do appreciate you support even with our continued tech. problems.
Thanks, Jerry

My thanks to our audience and to Doug for his call and info. Once we got the phone to work. On that note I have a statement I would like to make, in refference to the other "off topic" phone call to the show today.

"While I am one of the hosts of this show, I will not accept or condone any racists remarks or ethnic profiling of any kind. I apologize to the listeners who heard this callers comments. We have limited control over who calls in to an open forum talk show on podcast. I can only promise steps will be taken in all future shows to avert this from happening again. I am neither a bigot or racists. I do have my opinions, but keep them to myself or those with whom I choose to discuss these issues. I will not let my show be used as a means to promote these issues. I will continue to strive to keep this show as family friendly as I can...with an occasional slip...Brian really makes it hard at times.
Once again I apologize and thank you for your understanding and support.

Jerry,
They were not your comments so you have nothing to apologize for. You can't control the ignorance of others.
Good show though. I can't get over how the 2 of you sound like an old married couple! :what:

Once again I have to apologize for the tech problems. They are well past "OLD" and close to no longer an acceptable issue. It seems we cannot have a complete show without some kind of tech issues that affect the show. We have not had a problem free show for the last 5 shows! It has either been audio, video, phones or something not working properly. I think I am about to approach the line of decission as to whether or not to continue with the show. I won't speak for Brian, but I know he is fed up with these issues as well. The next show on Arpil 4th will be our one year anniversary show. If resolutions to these issues cannot be redered, it may be my last show. It is difficult to ask the members of this forum to get involved and support the show which at times either can't be, seen...heard... or able to call in and participate. I am not calling it quits just yet. Just venting my frustration with the ongoing tech and support issues at the studio. We will see what happens on the next show. I thank you for your understanding and continued support.

I had another talk with the producer and he says they have found the problems and are working on correcting it. So I guess we will keep plugging away at it and continue with the show. I was also told the multiple sites that carry our shows will be updated and have all the shows posted in the next few days. We'll see....
So for now we will continue and thank you for your continued support.

BTW: How about a few call-ins......talking to Brian too much is kinda like visiting with my mother-in-law....no win conversation.:P

Well, obviously on the last show a call in seemed odd to me since I couldn't even hear the subject matter being discussed. However, I do try to call in, but there are lots of times when the show seems to be going so well that I just don't have much to add. I try to call in when I think I have somethign to add. That, pllus I just can't work the chat room, the radio show, and the phone call all at once. Just a little too much for me. I also don't always get to listen live.

Flint talk radio has posted some of our shows on youtube.

Stikam lost the sound for the  March 21st show, but our producer used a voice recorder and edited it over the video so you can watch the show, but the sound is not up to par.

That was a very good show. Going over the way that guy handled the police was excellent.

Congratulations on the one year anniversary, and please keep up the good work. Many here, including me, appreciate it a lot.

It must have been a Detroit Cop!:D  Then I think they kept trying to call in and hang up just to bug us.  We unplugged the phone.  John said he could not see the number, so the guy was hiding it somehow.

June 13th, 2009 show: http://www.stickam.com/viewMedia.do?mId=184279556

We had an attorney from the Netherlands call in and a resident of NYC...both pro-gun.  The attorney studies the 2nd Amd.  and wished his country had just a right.  The call gave me goose bumps, because of how we often take our freedoms for granted.

I enjoyed the show Saturday, however,  I was awful upset when i heard Brian say that our "UNCLE TED" would speek at the SAM for 40 K.  That really pisses me off.  I love Tedly Von-Nugentburger, and i'm a big fan of his , but  that is Bull-@#$%.   Something he has advocated his whole life, and now he wants to profit for helping out our cause.  He is permitted to carry anywhere in the country, so i've heard him say, he ought to help US out.  I don't have a problem with making money, but come-on.   What a bunch of CRAP.  C'MON TED

Sorry all, but I cancelled the show for this week. Not due to the holiday, but Brian is busy and my allergies flared up. My eye is swelled shut and not feeling well at all.
Next show is on the 19th.
Thanks for your continued interest and support.

There is no show today because of poor communication.

It is up to Brian and Jerry whether or not the show continues with FTR.

Thanks!

Apparently there was a communication problem for today's show. However, I had told Brian I would have to take a break for a while. There are some family issues I have  to deal with and it may take a while. We plan on coming back if Steve wants us back and gets our issues resolved, i.e., getting the show postings updated, resolving some of the technical difficulties etc.....
We both enjoy doing the show and don't plan on "Quitting" at this point. We will see how it goes, and I will keep you all updated.
Thanks again for your support.

Thanks for your support guys. Keep checking back for new postings of our shows. It will take some time but I have been told it is in the works. They can only post a few videos at a time and will update as soon as they can. We have done over 30 shows and I know there are only 9 posted on Youtube, so they have a bunch to post yet.
We have a definite comeback date of Nov. 7th. We will see how many get posted by then.

There have been some updated postings of the shows on Youtube. Not all yet, but they are in the process.
We have postponed the show on Nov. 7th due to the event in Fowlerville.
The next show is now scheduled for Nov. 14th.
This will be subject to change, given nothing else comes up before then.

For those of you who are interested; the audio has been edited back onto the video of the home depot incident. It is about 30 seconds out of sync but at least it's there. Other shows are in the process of being posted.

bump... next show is Nov 14th... John will be co-hosting the show with me.

Just as fyi to everyone, we are also making sure the videos are available directly from the MOC website: http://www.michiganopencarry.org/node/8

We are missing 2, but I will have those fixed this evening. As more are made available, we will make sure to keep that updated for each access and organization of the videos.

WE HAVE BEEN FIRED!!  SAS is off the air.... FOR NOW!

I received an email from John Wilson (per producer Steve Myers orders) stating in essence we were fired. I have posted the emails and my response below. If I can find another venue to do the show we will try and bring the show back at a later date. I greatly appreciate the support of this forum and all the people in it. It was a great time and I enjoyed doing it.
Till next time....
Jerry

Jerry,
I regret to tell you that since you have moved all of the videos from SAS to your own site we will no longer be recording your shows from our studio.  When people go through your site we get no traffic to our site and thus our efforts are in vain. And what point is this? We never asked for money or anything for the use of our studio nor our time, but since you have your own site and now are posting the videos there we derive no benefit from recording the shows from our studio.
John Wilson

John: We had nothing to do with it. One of the members transferred the videos to the MOC site. I had seen them posted but I didn't know you don't want them posted on any other sites. So if you guys want to cancel the show, that's your choice. Let me know.
Thanks for the opportunity
Jerry

John: I was just thinking about it and if it was a problem posting on MOC website; why didn't you say anything to that fact when I asked you more than once about using your digital camera and record it ourselves and posting the show? You agreed to do it, if I brought in an SD card capable of recording the show. So I am at a loss as to why this has become a problem. As I said, Brian and I had nothing to do with it, another member took it upon themselves to have a central site to watch the shows. The listings on Youtube were so confusing and ; he was only trying to do what Steve said he would take care of a year ago. Then to just send me an email, canceling the show without so much as a phone call to ask what was going on; That alone tells me you and Steve must be tired having us around. I suppose we were not such a hit show after all. OR....maybe it was like we said back in March...people were tired of not seeing the shows posted because they work and can't always watch/listen to the live podcast. So maybe it's a good thing you decide to FIRE us, make room for another show. I am sure Brian and I can set up shop elsewhere.
Take care and good luck with your next show.
Jerry

I just got off the phone with John. He wants us to come in and do the show. Apparently, (as I surmised) Steve(producer) had one of his little control freak rants and fired us. So I told John, NO THANKS, we will go some place else and set up a new show. As you can see in my reply, I told them our member was simply doing what Steve was supposed to last year; have a central location to watch ALL the shows instead of...some here...parts of others over there...etc....
My thanks to viperar15 for your efforts and taking the initiative to do what the producer should have been doing. This is in no way your fault and I will personally defend your trying to help.
If the members would like to see the show reborn; throw some ideas out and let's see what we come up with.
Again, thanks for your efforts and support during the time we have been doing the show.

Sorry to hear about the set back Jerry.

I do miss listening to the show, and regret that I haven't been as available to listen live as I used to.

Hope your up and running again soon.

God Bless.

Not a good idea Doug: too many liabilities involved with using the MOC name. Foremost, it would have to be approved by the board members of MOC; second, MOC would be responsible for it's content and discussion.
Got another one?

I just had a discussion with Brian and we will re-start with a new show after the first of the year. We have a few logistics to work out but I am confident we will get it going. Right now there is too much going on..hunting, holidays, to try anything right now.
Thanks for your continued support.

BTW: I am still interested in ideas for a new show title if we don't go with SAS.

I understand their point of view but a simple conversation about the issue before pulling the plug would have been a more appropriate next step.

Irregardless, looking forward to seeing/hearing the show in whatever form it reemerges.

All SAS videos have been pulled/deleted from YouTube and flint talk radio sites. The only ones available, thanks to viperar15, are posted on MOC. Steve Myers took months to post shows, because he was working and didn't have time. Amazing, he found time to delete all the shows from 3 sites in less than 48 hrs.! Now that's what I call time management. But I can see now why he has such a large turnover in programming the way he runs things. I do thank him for the opportunity of doing the show and wish him luck in keeping programming going to his satisfaction. Too bad, WE... won't be one of them.

ETA: In all fairness to Steve; After I thought about it, he probably had John go in and delete all the videos.
Anger tends to make me jump to conclusions.

No, they have all been removed. That is one of Steve Myers trademarks, if you leave the studio... quit/fired... the first thing he does is delete all your videos. Those posted on MOC, are all that is left.

yikes... good thing we saved what we could before that happened. i do believe we have everything that was on youtube... unfortunatly now i can't go back and steal the descriptions of each and put those on our MOC page.

and just to make sure everyone knows where the videos are... go here! http://www.michiganopencarry.org/node/8  :-)

Why bother, this way we have one central site for the videos to be seen. I guess we could do both and get more coverage if you want. Just wondering....

Because we get a national audience, more hits means more people learn about OC and our rights.  Duh!

I saw two fawns, My brother missed a nice buck he kicked up while stalking.  It was a very poor opening day in Benzie county (Bucks only).  Our camp didn't get a deer and saw very few.  I didn't even see any deer being dragged out.  We also didn't see many hunters for a Sunday opening.  Overall in this area a crappy first couple of days.
