Skaggs on Main Street in SLC.

OPSGEAR in North Salt Lake - I think Skaggs had a bigger selection than OPSGEAR did.

Gunnies (if you want) has them but I got my serpa from Range Masters of Utah in Springville because they were the only ones that has the paddle I wanted.  Sportman's Warehouse has them as well.

I buy mine at Sportsman's Warehouse in Provo, I don't like spending money at Gunnies.  Did you get an XD?

I disagree, they're fairly similar.  If he was asking if he should get a glock or a 1911, that'd be a better comparison.

XDs and Glocks generally have similar selections of sizes and calibers, both are polymer pistols that are renown for their durability.  The main differences that I know of are the looks (some prefer all the tacticool looking lines running up and down the XD), and the trigger pull.

The glock has a mushy feeling trigger (though some work can be easily done to make it better), and the XD has a long but lighter and crisper trigger pull.

The other difference is the grip angle.

I like my Glock, but I like XDs too.

Go shoot both  and see what you like. I like the grip angle on the XD, more like a 1911. The Glock has a Luger style grip with a more extreme angle, me no likey.. It's up to you.

I want one of those.:D I got my Serpa. Original, not the sportster, and I like it a lot so far.

But, How do you take up the forward to back wiggle in it? I only notice it when I don't have the holster one, but it still bugs me.

If you tighten the screw on the side near the auto lock, it may help with the wiggle.  Just don't tighten it too much, then your XD will be stuck.

Well, of course I could hit the target with it, but if my intent is to hit the target with it,
I'd be better off using a baseball!  and some people call ME a dufus.... (sarcasm off )

Oh I see, the nut on the back of that screw was spinning, now I get it.

Hehe, I can make this a crossdraw holster. Not that I would want to, but I can.

OK, please allow me to rephrase....

The most important thing is to successfully defend yourself and those about you in a legally appropriate manner with the tools that you have available to you during a crisis. :banghead:

I do like the scene in one of the Indiana Jones movies where Indi  does bring a gun to a sword fight!

You're too close.  If your camera has the setting you need to set it to macro mode when it's less than 3ish feet from the target.  And super macro if it's less than 10 inches.

He may have used another method, but I've read that using a crayon will produce very nice results.  Just rub the crayon in the markings.

That's what I did, but now that I know I like the color, I'm going to make it a little more permanent.

And with the crayon it's actually best to melt it into the lettering, that way you don't get air bubbles in it, which could look like crap.

Anyway, if you want to do it permanently, you know after you've tried with crayon and you decide that you like it, use nail polish.

As far as XDs though, only do that one if you have a Melonite finish, as the older Bruniral finish may be harmed by the nail polish remover you will have to use. You can call Springfield Armory and they will tell you which one you have.

Anyway fill in the letters with the nail polish, try to get as little elsewhere as possible, and let the first coat dry. If it is filled up enough then you can take a piece of newspaper or printer paper, and put nail polish remover on it, and wip it flat accross your lettering. Don't push hard on it, use just enough pressure to remove the nail polish outside the letters.

Don't use a rag. It will pull the coloring out of the lettering.

But anyway that's how it works.

And credit for this knowledge goes to Outsider. I saw him on the fourth and he showed me his XD, on which he had already done the crayon.
