I’ve carried open for many years and carried concealed since I was 21. I enjoy seeing others with the same mindset and who also enjoy carrying openly! I’ve often thought about doing this and I think I’m finally going to give it a shot! I am interested in starting a ‘group’ or ‘club’ of people who carry openly. The purpose of this group is to have like-minded individuals getting together on occasion to share stories both good and bad, theories, experiences, and opinions as well as to educate the general public on the legality and the acceptability of carrying in such a manner. I’d like to extend an invitation to all in the Flathead Valley area or anywhere else in the state that’s willing to travel that would like to meet and possibly start doing so on a semi-regular basis. I would love to have any input or criticism that anyone would like to throw in my direction regarding this idea! If enough people in the area express interest in this idea, I’d like to set up a time where we could possibly meet at someplace like Perkin’s for instance to all meet and have lunch together (on your own dime, I’d like to start this group, not buy your lunch!!) and meet others in the area! Again, let me know what y’all think of this!! Feel free to drop me a Private Message on here letting me know if you can, can’t, will or won’t do something like this! Hey this sounds like a great idea, I know Craig at Perkins is an avid 2nd Amendment supporter and encourages CC but I have never seen anyone OC. His reasoning is that he knows he won't get robbed while anyone packing is in the restaurant. Myself, and John Carter aka Crow Carter from the Bigfork Gun Club have been frequent flyers in there for a long time and Craig knows we pack. But I'm game. |

I don't know if interest is fading in this kind of venture or not but it is the opinion of this person that if we don't show some kind of interest and desire in keeping this legal, we'll lose it! It is now D-Day plus two and I'm hoping like crazy that we don't lose our second amendment rights within the next few months! If anyone expressing interest in joining together has any friends, family or others who would be interested in meeting, it would be terrific! The more people we can get the better. The more the merrier! So far with only two people showing interest aside from myself, it's gonna be slow in the making! Spread the word and tell everyone! I just Talked to 44Mag on the Phone for a bit about a bunch of stuff . So I will initiate a Date and Time and We will see where it Goes . Ok all, we just met again at Perkin's and had a great time. A couple of new people attended this time and I hope enjoyed things! It was nice to have new people at this meeting and we all had fun and enjoyed the laughs and the conversation! Anyone wanting to attend another meeting is more than welcome, just know that if you decide to drink the coffee you'll be making more trips to the bathroom than you would have intended! If you know anyone in the Flathead Valley area, be sure to tell them about it too! We love having more and more people there. We started out with three the first time, this time we had five. Not a huge boom in attendance, but it's sure enough to put a smile on this country boys face!! The guys are awesome and we have fun, to me that's all that matters!! |

Sounds like fun!! We've been discussing the subject of open/concealed carry in places like Famous Dave's that serve alcohol! Check out the conversation in the 'What is considered "open carry" in Montana.' I think that's the name of the thread in the Montana section!! |

As far as I see, MCA does NOT prohibit OC in a bar, just CC. I'm not an attorney and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn, but my understanding is unless somethng is SPECIFICALLY prohibited it is legal. .... Does give one a bit of a pucker factor thinking about it though. Ya never know these days. Anyone in MT ever try it yet outside of hunting season. I know I've done it while hunting and not a word was said. Given the town I was in I'd bet I could have had an RPG-7 and driven in with a drunken Soviet tank crew and all the locals would have wanted to know is if they needed more beer... I put out an invitation to anyone in the area who wanted to join our meeting groups yesterday on Z-Trade on AM600. Not a bad place to gain some interest. Gave a brief description of it when I put my pistol on there to sell. I came to the realization that it wouldn't hurt to put a few words on there a few days before our next cuss & discuss, that way anyone else who might be interested could join us! We'll hafta do it again, I'm bored and I think MT GUNNY is looking for a date again! That and the fact that I wanna see if I can get a phone number from the waitress that was there the first time!! |

Hopefully we'll get a really good turn-out there! I've talked to a few more people who've expressed great interest in being there and meeting like-minded people! It didn't go too bad. We had some new faces there and some old faces there too! It was nice and informative. The coolest part was the fact that we had a woman who called me and expressed interest in attending. She showed up and stayed for the whole thing. It's nice to see that we're actually reaching women carriers as well! I like the diversity that's coming about. It's adding new perspectives to an already fun group!! |

Okay, time for the AAR (After-Action Review for those of you that are confused already): The get-together went really well. We had a few new faces and some 'Old Salts' there. In the case of JB, those Old Salts were pretty old. LOL. Sorry bud! Anyways, it went well. Lots of good questions and great discussion took place. The only thing we're going to try to prevent next time is the whole 'Conspiracy Theory' discussion that took place after everyone left. MT GUNNY and I got stuck listening to a few people talk about how corrupt our government has been for the past 100+ years. I'd rather sit through a root canal. Anyways, the meeting was fun and was entertaining as well! Hopefully we can get just as many people there next time or more than we had this time! Thanks to all who attended! |

As far as ROMCAG, I don't know what that is, but I was jealous when you left and I had to wait for MT GUNNY (no disrespect to him). He got fairly cornered by those yahoos and had to sit and put up with the discussion. I know that conversation can get pretty carried away and really controversial, but this get-together isn't quite the platform for that kind of discussion! I don't really relish that kind of discussion when we're gathering for a whole different subject!! |

Yeah, you ain't kidding! I know exactly who you're talking about. He's a well-meaning guy but he's gotta realize that if you know the basics sometimes, you can prevent yourself from most of the 'what-ifs' in life. That friend of yours from your church that showed up there was pretty interested and had some good questions about the subject at hand! I think that makes up for all the other hard-headed people that show up there, when you can talk to one or two sincere people who are genuinely interested in learning something!! |

He really has alot of questions, and a plus on his part.... he is also buying his wife a handgun. Now both of them need real good handgun training and range time. We can help them both. I will find out when they want to do some range training. |

Well guys, we're making an impact in more places than just here in Montana. I've got family interested in and inquiring of our little group here: what we discuss, why we do what we do and how we got the authorization to do so in a public restaurant. This inquiry is coming from the sorta' great state of Indiana. They apparently like the idea of us getting together and stuff like that in order to exercise our ability and right to carry the way we do and to meet such as we do! Nice to know others are wanting to do the same, I only hope it works as well for them as it does for us!! Couldn't do it without your help! Thanks! |

Just thought I'd post an AAR about our little 'Cuss & Discuss' yesterday afternoon. It went quite well. We had a total of 11 or 12 people there altogether and had some great conversation and good company. The icing on the cake was our 'surprise visitor' that came. Former Constitutional Party Presidential Candidate Chuck Baldwin and his two sons showed up with a gentleman that has graced our presence before. Chuck and his sons were visiting the area from Pensacola, Florida and came to see what we were about. What a treat that was!! All I can say is that I hope he runs again in 2012. If so, he's sure got my vote!! I looked him up on Google and read so much about him, much more than I already knew in the first place! I wish he could have stayed longer for more conversation and questions! |

Alright. After some deep pondering I've come up with the idea of making some revisions to this next cuss & discuss. Instead of the usual thing at Perkin's, I'd like to get everyone's input on the possibility of scheduling an OC/CC picnic in Lawrence Park here in Kalispell. It'd be sometime about the first or second week in August I'm thinking. Y'all give me some thoughts on this idea. Strictly potluck, bring your own meat. I'd like to have about two barbecue's there so we can cook everything but if the idea is a sound one, we'd have to figure out who's gonna bring what. Family is definitely invited. Drop me a line and let me know if this suggestion will hold any water!! Thanks guys!! |

Okay, while the idea was a sound one, I don't think many people are interested in it since summer will still be in full swing. None of the attendees in this area are willing to come up with a date that will work for everyone in regards to the OC/CC picnic, nor is anyone coming up with any ideas as to where it can be done. I called on Lawrence Park and they're only available until 1500hrs on 14 August and that just won't do. I refuse to fork over any money to rent a location from the local Parks and Recreation. I would love to hold to this idea but maybe another time. |

Good Evening Gentlemen. I can see we've been rather complacent in our scheduling of any meetings. I would love to get back into the swing of things since it's been quite some time since we've all been together and had our fill of BS and whatever else seems to come up! I'd like to schedule another 'Cuss & Discuss' for some time towards the end of the month if that sounds good to everyone else. Actually, better yet, what about Monday the 5th of October. That's not quite in General Season yet and is during the week so I don't think we'll be interfering with too many of you 'Sticks & Strings' folks. Drop me a line and let me know what you think about this. I'm thinking about 2:30 or 3 in the afternoon. If you want to make it later, we might be able to do that. I know JB works in the evenings and I don't want to interfere in his schedule but I'm sure this will conflict with someone! Give me some feedback and we'll shoot for that, unless there's a better time! Thanks a bunch and I hope to hear from you soon!! Terry would be Proud. |

Well y'all, it's been fun. I can see interest in our little get-together's is fading drastically and since that is the case, I will no longer be trying to set up anymore meetings. Y'all don't seem interested in doing so, therefore I don't feel anymore interest in wasting my time pursuing a lost cause!! Have a great time and remember who wanted to do this first the next time this subject is brought up anywhere. Maybe y'all will want to do it if someone else was trying to spearhead it!! |

I've always liked what you've had to say and you seem to be a decent sort. I, unfortunately, work 10 hour days and it's darn near impossible to fit into any schedule of any kind. I do, however, know exactly how you feel and I'm sorry it turned out the way it did. I had fought for years to get like-minded individuals together for something so simple as a one-day-a-month shooting match. I thought it was personal, but to this day there is still a pathetic turnout and that just sort of sucks the fun right out of it. Also, it seems as though this forum is frequented more by out-of-staters than Montanans. I come to the Montana section to talk with other Montanans. If I wanted to speak to folks from other states, I'd go to their state or to the GD section. With the recent locking of the Hardin thread, I find that this is as good a time as any to say that I wish I could have gotten to know you guys more and we all could have gotten together to throw some lead downrange. Hope to see you guys around someday. |

Hey all, I am new to Kalispell, 6 months here anyways. I would like to participate in any future meetings, when I am home. I also have a small security and firearms training corporation that a friend and I recently started, and would like to start teaching the citizens of Montana. Okay y'all. If all works out, I'm going to be moving sometime in the near future to the Shelby or Great Falls area. We need to get together and at least have coffee again before that happens. I don't know if anyone else is interested in that little idea, but I'd sure like it and I know another person who would as well!! Drop me a line here and let me know what y'all think of this idea. Hopefully just a casual coffee appointment like this doesn't fall on its face like the Monthly Meetings did. |
