Looking at OCDO's "front page" I saw the clip of another state's group getting involved the in Adopt a Highway program.

Do we have enough interest to do this as a group here in Wisconsin?  I'm imagining a well-traveled highway that passes through no school zones....

http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/localgov/aid/adopt-a-highway.htm

Each qualified group takes responsibility for litter control on a segment of state highway. The group picks up litter on this segment at least three times per year between April 1 and November 1. Groups do not work in dangerous areas like medians, bridges, or steep slopes.

Who can Adopt-A-Highway? Any group organized for some special purpose or task can be a sponsor, except partisan or political groups. Each group must provide one adult supervisor for every five or six volunteers.

Emphasis on safety The Adopt-A-Highway program emphasizes safety.

I'd be willing to help.  So long as the Highway is within an hour and a half of Milwaukee.  That covers Madison, Fond du lac and everything in between.

I would also volunteer for an adopt-a-highway in Wisconsin. Ideally something in SE Wisconsin that gets some good exposure - we would definitely want a highway that is travelled often (better for publicity).

If someone does get something going, please email mr.tastic at yahoo dot com.

Here's an idea for those of you who want to DO something:

Contact your county board supervisors and re-submit the resolution.

http://opencarry.mywowbb.com/view_topic.php?id=17914&forum_id=57

Press them to act on it.  If they refuse, catch them after a meeting, with video camera running, and ask them why you/me/we have no rights.  Then post their answers on You-Tube.

The cost is almost non-existent and because you were asking a question about rights, and did so without a firearm, if they try to quash you that would be a violation of your first (1st) amendment rights.

Will you start by taking this first unarmed stand?

I'm filling out the Adopt a Highway form.  We need a name to go on the highway sign. 3 lines max, 12 letters max each line.

How about

  Wisconsin
    Chapter
opencarry.org

I realize there's no formal chapter, but that seemed to sum up the group with the best possible PR exposure ?

For location, I'm looking at I-94 where it is intersected by Hwy 67 near Oconomowac.  For a meeting spot to shuttle from, we could use Olympia Resort close by.  A freedom loving patriot owns it, so if we want a beverage and bite to eat afterwards, it would be a good place to patronize.

This location is near major metro Milwaukee, yet a decent drive for Madison.

I'm in Janesville, is anyone close by there to scout the suggested location and suggest a couple of 2 mile sections ?  We need those for the application.

The rules say everyone has to wear one of those fashionable orange vests !

What more would be needed for a formal Wisconsin Chapter of OCDO.  I might be the senior member and I declare the Wisconsin Chapter of OCDO.

Note that there are no membership rolls or by-laws or hierarchy of leadership.  If you have a good idea then run it up the flag pole to see who salutes it, play the tune and dance to it, then beer and fellowship afterward.

opencarry.org is actually 13 spaces, needs to be split up on sign.

I'm requesting miles on I-94 near Oconomomac 1st choice 282-284, 2nd choice 280-282, 3rd choice 278-280

This is a great idea... my fraternity had a section of highway 100 adopted and we always have a great time cleaning up. However our section is in quite an 'unsafe' location, and I know I would have always felt better if I had my gun with me.

I'm not understanding why WI and CHAPTER are important. SECURITY or some other meaningful word seems more appropriate.

Smithman,

Adopt-a-Highway requires a "Group Name" .  They don't allow for a message.

It is your responsibility and commitment to some small number of cleanups not the dates.

Another great idea!  Organize and do it - get it in the news and petition for the sign to me erected - that costs $ though.

Great idea  - have a littel cleanup while OCing, get in the local papers, and figure out how to get the road sign erected later designating the group as highway cleanuppers!

We have our Adopt-A-Highway permit for open carry litter pickup group.

How about a poll with a couple of different days as the choices for the 1st day ?

Saturday May 16th at 10am  or

Sunday May 17th at 2pm ?

If the cookout happens the following weekend, Memorial Day, we'd have 2 solid open carry events for the media to cover back to back.  It seems like it would be positive if the open carry litter day came before the cookout so the media reports on community volunteering first.

We'll need to pick up 2 "working ahead" signs, bags, and fashionable orange vests from the Transportation SE Region Office on Barstow St.   Could someone in Waukesha County volunteer to do this one day in advance to our first open litter pickup day ?  (I'm in Janesville)

The segment we were assigned is Hwy 16 from CTH "C" to STH 83.   I have not been told when the "OPENCARRY.ORG   WISC   CHAPTER " sponsor sign will go up along the highway.

Dang!  you guys are fast.  Let me know if you need help stirring up press coverage, though you might want to meet up just as a group once or twice first just to get to know each other first.

I would be able to do this. Is there anyone specific that I would have to talk to about acquiring these items when the time comes?

There are private schools at either end of the route.  Country Christian Grade School is on the west end (Hwy C), south of 16 and Wisconsin Lutheran High School is on the east end (Hwy 83), north of 16.  I don't think there is any way to carry on the south west side of 16 near Country Christian as their land abuts 16.  Wisconsin Lutheran is farther away from 16, but I don't know if it is 1000' feet from the Hwy.  I will try to determine it as I drive that route every day and maybe I can shoot the distance with my laser rangefinder.

Could it be that we were allowed that stretch with the DOT knowing about the schools?

If need be, I can go without a sidearm near any schools and cover that area.

Yeah, you guys have to really do your homework on the school zone thing - and don't count on any government agency to help you as it is not your job - you could always just do the part near the schools first wearing empty holsters and then holster up once out of the zone as you finish up?

In Either day.... keep us posted

( someone really needs to measure 1050 feet to the schools and mark it with a t-post or something if we are going to do this.)

Measuring on google earth, those schools carve out healthy chunks of clean up area.  I would estimate probably about 1/2 mile of the 2 mile route.  Worst of all, they're on each end of the stretch.

Of course we could ask permission of those schools.  Why would they object to litter cleanup on weekends?  Being private schools, maybe they're more open to the idea....

That is correct.  Need to contact the schools and get permission for multiple people OCing to pick up trash in the school zones.  This must be in writing and carried by multiple people during the trash pickup.

By popular demand, the first open carry litter pickup date will be:
Saturday May 16th at 10am

We have a volunteer to pick up DOT materials for us ahead of time.

We still need:
- A location to meet, there may be a parking lot right on this stretch ?
- An open carry expert to give a quick refresher on how to respond to any law enforcement activity.
- A videographer
- A media contact, in the event media arrives

How's the school proximity looking ?

Any other issues ?

What do you think about meeting at 9:30.

I was looking at the area given to you, and I see a real problem, or 3... Schools are lining your stretch of highway.

University Lake School is about half way in the middle, and it is about 550 or so feet from the highway. So you have them at both ends and in the middle.  I don't suppose that you could ask for a new stretch?  94 might work out better.

Well carry or not, you got a good thing started.

I went to University Lake School.  Their property runs all the way up to Vettleson, which means it's within about 150-200 feet of Hwy 16.

Having been on the grounds a few months ago, I can confirm (although it's fairly obvious from the satellite pics) that is also a school on the southwest corner of Nagawicka and Vettleson also within about 200-300 feet - so that's actually 2 schools right in the middle that are well inside 1000' of 16.

Lake Country School is just west of University Lake School.  It will be difficult to carry at all on this stretch of 16.  One school on each end and two in the middle.

Thanks everyone for checking out this stretch of highway.   It does not sound doable as far as open carry goes.

So, I'll try to change the assigned section of road.  Not sure how it will go, but I'll try.
They gave me a list of open sections.   If someone can confirm one of these will work for us, I'll request the change.

Hwy 67   CTH "D" (East) to CTH "Z" (West)             1.85 Miles
Hwy 67   CTH "C” TO CHT "D (East)                            2.31 Miles
Hwy 67 Betts RD to Railroad ST                                   2.02 Miles
Hwy 67 Walworth County Line to Betts RD            2.15 Miles
Hwy 164 Glendale RD to STH 59                                 2.0 Miles
Hwy 59 CTH “X” (South) to STH 164 (East)              2.19 Miles
Hwy 59 Woods RD to Green County RD                  1.16 Miles

I doubt we'll have a new section assigned by weekend of May 16th, so we'll probably have to postpone the date.
By the way, the positive response for this from many law abiding exercisers of the 2nd amendment has been outstanding.    We will even have some under 21 that will put a shotgun over their shoulder and pick up litter.

I'll step up and take the first look.  I would prefer to have my results verified though, so don't let me volunteering stop anyone else.

I'll update this post as I research.

-----------

67 Z to D:
Having trouble finding this section of road properly.  This the long section that runs south from D all the way to ZZ?  I couldn't find just "Z"

If so, then this looks good.  Only one thing looked like a school on sat imagery and it's the town of ottawa park at 67 & D.

-----------
67,  "D" to "C"

Looks clear.  Town of Ottawa Park at D&67.

---------
67 Betts to Railroad

This looks like a winner.  It's on the southwest side of Eagle.  The north end (Railroad St) is just down the road from Eagle Elementary, but looks like it's well past 1000 feet.  I cannot find any more schools near 67 southwest to Betts.

----
67 Walworth Cty Line to Betts

Also looks clear, though I'm not exactly sure where the walworth county line is.  I don't see schools nearby however.

---
164 from 59 to Glendale Rd

Looks clean.  Nice, well traveled section of road, too.   I like this piece.

-----

59, X to 164

I _think_ this is clear, but if it's the section I'm thinking of (the section of 59 running west from 164) then there is a school that is close to, but not quite, within 1000 feet - Prairie Elementary is probably about 1300' north of 59 pretty much in the middle of this route.

----
59 from Woods to Green Country
(I think you meant Country, not County)

This looks safe.  There is school grounds about 1200-1500 feet further east on 59.

-----

So that's my estimate.  Anyone else?

67 Z to D  (I found Z)

There is Lakewood school South East of the area, but that appears to be more than 1,000' feet away from our area.  There are two more schools near the intersection of Z and 67  Dousman Elementary and kettle moraine middle school.  Those two schools would overlap some of our area.  I would have to say we should pass on this strech.

67 C to D
I don't see any school zones, plus after we clean up we can go fishing at ottawa lake! :)  I fish there alott when I'm down here.  This stretch looks good!  Plus I know we get alott of traffic there, bicyclist use it as a route when going through kettle moraine state forest.  The Lakewood school looks far more than 1,000 feet, I would say it's prolly 2,500 - 3,500 feet away.

Was only bale to do these 2 for now, I gotta get to work.  Give 67 C to D a look, it gets a very good amount of traffic, on foot on bicycles and cars/motorcycles.  Plus it's  anice semi wooded good looking area!

I don't know for sure if this area (67 z-d) is in the Kettle Moraine state park, but I found this.

NR 45.09 Firearms and hunting.

gun while within the exterior boundary of state−owned lands posted

with department signs in Dane, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Jefferson,

Winnebago counties or on state forest lands in the Kettle Moraine

or Point Beach state forests, state recreation areas, state natural

areas or on state trails established on abandoned railroad grades,

except as follows:

(a) While engaged in hunting in accordance with the open seasons

established in s. NR 10.01 on properties where hunting is

authorized.

(b) At target ranges designated by the department.

(c) While engaged in dog trials under department permit.

Here is the map of C to D on highway 67. Looks clear of the state forest.  Thanks for making me look again though, wouldn't want to screw that up.  So any further ideas we should think of rich?  I can't write in the paint application good as obvious lol.

SOunds good, I'll also be taking a drive by the section today since I'm going fishing at ottawa lake.  Kettle moraine golf club abuts a small section of 67 but I'd see no reason why that would cause any problem.

Not intending to interfere with the Milwaukee picnic thread...but...

Might be worth considering to add a cookout at Town of Ottawa park to litter pickup days.  The park is right at the North end of the proposed adopted route, and does not appear to ban carrying (hunting and discharge, yes.  Carrying, no).

STATUS ON SECTION CHANGE:
The Adopt-A-Highway contact person at the state has been out for several days.  Apparently, there is noone else that help with a switch.  She's back in early next week, so we should know by end of the week.

We were able to get our section changed.  The Adopt-A-Highway state contact person changed us to our preferred section:

Hwy 67   CTH "C” TO CTH "D (Eastbound only)                            2.31 Miles

Thanks everyone for checking out all the areas.

Now, what are thoughts on the date for the first pickup day ?

How does June 13 or the 27th?  It gives everyone some time to  try and make it, and it should be nice and warm!  Should we have a backup date in case it rains? Or is that not suitable to many?

I vote for the 27th only because my second son will be born on the 9th (ceasarian section) and I don't think that my wife will let me out of the house.

I'm a little late to the party, but I could do it on the 27th if we decide pretty soon; summers are kinda' busy. How many times are we supposed to clean up during the year?

We have a fairly long stretch of highway (12,144 ft.), so how do we tackle it?

Ok, let's plan on
Saturday June 27th at 10am

We have a volunteer to pick up materials (bags, vests, etc.) for us ahead of time.

We still need:
- An open carry expert to give a quick refresher on how to respond to any law enforcement activity.
- A videographer
- A media contact, in the event media arrives

Any other issues ?

I will be out of town that weekend, but this is the best date.   I'll get to meet everyone the 2nd pickup later this year.

awww you can't make it Rich?  That sucks!  I'll be in the area this weekend more than likely and will look for potential parking spots.  Could we possibly park in the town hall parking lot?

We still need:
- A location to meet, there may be a parking lot in the middle of this stretch ?   Then, we could shuttle people to both ends and have walk back to the middle (about 1 mile, we only have the Eastbound side of the road.)
....

Here's an idea. Why not just space everybody out along the stretch according to how many show up and then everybody work toward the South? That way, we wouldn't be bumping into each other or covering the same ground twice, and our sidearms would be visible from the road.

We could all drive our own cars to our particular starting point, park on the side of the road, gun up and start to work. That way, we wouldn't have to coordinate a shuttle, the walk back to the car afterwards would be shorter, and the next guy coming up the road would know he's done when he got to your car.

That plan for spreading out sounds good to me.

Also, the Adopt A Highway state coordinator corrected that our new stretch of highway includes both directions of travel.   Eastbound means the stretch goes to Eastbound D.   She was mistaken earlier.   She also said we'll get 2 sponsorship signs then, going both ways.

So does that mean 2.3 miles total or 2.3 x 2 = 4.6 miles total?

4.6 miles total.

I vote for starting everyone at one end and walk together to the other end in a line.  You aren't going to "bump" into each other, there is a lot of ground to cover.  Once done, we'll drink sodas and socialize.  I have a Suburban so I can transport seven people at a time.

That's a good strategy if you're picking up cigarette butts on a parade ground, but we're just after trash and the width we'll be policing is 15' to 20' wide. Two or three guys can cover that width easily. In addition, the only parking lot is at the golf course and we'd need permission to park there.

How many volunteers are coming for sure?

Here is the map of C to D on highway 67. Looks clear of the state forest.  Thanks for making me look again though, wouldn't want to screw that up.  So any further ideas we should think of rich?  I can't write in the paint application good as obvious lol.

So I drove our little section today.  No signs up yet.   Just north of D on the west side is ottowa park.  It's got a government building and recycling center along with park.  Looks like a lot of parking.  Maybe an alternate meeting area if the golf course won't let us.  The golf course lot was full when I drove by.

Also,  I thought you could park on the side of a highway if you are well over the white line.  There are some places along that stretch where there is room to park.  So we could meet at that park, depending how many people we have,  break off and have a couple few cars park on the side of the road in various places along the highway.  Not very wide in places.  Don't need everyone together.

I only saw a few soda cans and various car exhaust parts from driving.  Not very messy.  Some various metal parts that might break through a normal garbage bag.

Would we fall under the category of a political group?    We're not dedicated to any party, and as far as I know, none of us are running for office.

We are not considered a political group because we are not dedicated to any one specific political group as a whole.

I just checked the long-range forecast for Eagle and it says a high of 88 and, "Some sun, warm and very humid". Better bring a hat and plenty of water....

How about if we all meet and organize at Ottawa park, and then park along the road (
at least 3 feet from the pavement when parking on the highway) at our respective starting points. If we work toward the south first on the East side of the road and then north on the West side(Groups shall work on only one side of the road at a time. ), our sidearms will always be visible from the road, unless you are a lefty.

In case anyone was worried about carrying so close to a roadway, the Wisconsin Statutes are on our side:

"167.31Safe use and transportation of firearms and bows.

    (2) PROHIBITIONS; MOTORBOATS AND VEHICLES; HIGHWAYS AND
      ROADWAYS.

(b)  Except as provided in sub. (4), no person may place, pos-
sess or transport a firearm, bow or crossbow in or on a vehicle,
unless the firearm is unloaded and encased or unless the bow or
crossbow is unstrung or is enclosed in a carrying case.

(c)  Except as provided in sub. (4), no person may load or dis-
charge a firearm or shoot a bolt or an arrow from a bow or cross-
bow in or from a vehicle.

(d)  Except as provided in sub. (4) (a), (bg), (cg), (e), and (g),
no person may discharge a firearm or shoot a bolt or an arrow from
a bow or crossbow from or across a highway or within 50 feet of
the center of a roadway.

    (4) EXCEPTIONS.
(f)  Subsection (2) (d) does not prohibit a person from possess-
ing a loaded firearm within 50 feet of the center of a roadway if
the person does not violate sub. (2) (b) or (c)."
:celebrate

I'm looking forward to meeting you all and spending an enjoyable day exercising our Second Amendment Rights!

Perhaps somebody could explain to me why this thread was moved with no forwarding address given. Wisconsin forum members who might have been interested in participating but hadn't yet posted will have no idea where to find this thread.  :cuss:

I will make a posting in the original forum site where to find us.

The thread is posted to the main page of OCDO - very obvious, you should be checking this daily - alternatively, go to fourms and click to see most recent - it will be at top.

But there is a link in the WI forum as well - it just is not stickied.

Yes Sir, I'm sure that to someone such as yourself who has been on the OC Forum for over three years that it is, "very obvious"; but to someone new to the group it is very obscure and unintuitive. Since I have a life and don't have time to read hundreds of posts, I limited myself to the Wisconsin discussion because that is my area of interest.

Now you say I "should be checking this[the main page] daily"? Not gonna happen. Is it that big a deal to sticky a link to a thread that has been moved?
For that matter, why move it at all?

Puzzled in Wisconsin....   :uhoh:

Please, everyone, check the main page of OpenCarry.org every day - that url again is, OpenCarry.org - you will see all the hot links - there will just be a few.  The purpose of moving hot topics to the main page is to ensure everybody sees them including the press which checks that page often.

Unfortunately when a thread is moved to hot topics, the residual thread link in a state forum loses it's stickiness - that's the software we have to deal with.  Thanks for your cooperation and help in making our main page the de facto Drudge Report of the open carry movement.

Yep, that main page is how I found out about the Greenfield meeting.  It helps find the big new stuff fast.  Might I add, it also looks like us in Wisconsin have just about taken it over!  Gun rights are comming back to Wisconsin!

I went back over the entire thread and a lot of people had comments and suggestions, but the following are the only ones who actually committed:
  1. Parabellum
  2. Clint Starin
  3. NC-Tastic  please email mr.tastic at yahoo dot com
  4. skamp
  5. FLR72
  6. Fast Ed
  7. Johnny Stiletto
  8. WI Patriot
  9. BJA
  10. AaronS
  11. pvtschultz
  12. davegran
  13. GlocksRfun
  14. Pezhead992
  15. Sajuuk
  16. Sajuuk's wife
  17. ROOK WI
So there must be six people who haven't PM'd Johnny Stiletto .

How about it, anybody else out there want to help put Opencarry in the public eye? We've got 4.6 miles of roadway to clean up.

Have we contacted any members of the press yet?

Stumbled upon this by accident...

I have PM'd Stiletto on/for details - count me in, rain or shine.

No problem here getting soaked to the bone for something believed in.

Stumbled upon this by accident...

I have PM'd Stiletto on/for details - count me in, rain or shine.

No problem here getting soaked to the bone for something believed in.

Thanks! I added you to the list....  :celebrate

You have to fight for the area that has the sign.  The best spots are taken...

In buisness now.   Our sign is up.  Yay

This picture was not photoshopped.  My girfriend wasn't happy when I parked next to an exploded deer carcas to take this.      I could only make the pic super tiny or this big.  I suppose if I knew what I was doing I could...   sorry.

Edited to get rid of super large pic.   Thanks Rock, how'd u get it that size?

The weather forecast for the 27th looks beautiful! "Mostly sunny and nice, High 81". No more mention of high humidity. So c'mon out and enjoy a great day working on your tan and publicizing our 2A rights.

To sum up what we know for sure about the day, our section of roadway is just north of Eagle, WI on Hyw 67 and runs on both sides of the road from cty C northward to the first intersection with cty D. We're going to meet at 10:00am in Ottawa Park by going left at the next intersection with cty D just north of our section and then making the first left into the park. Park in the first parking lot you come to. The following maps should hopefully make it all more clear.

Our Cleanup Route and Park Location

Closeup Detail of Park

So far the following people have committed to being there:
  1. Parabellum
  2. Clint Starin
  3. NC-Tastic  please email mr.tastic at yahoo dot com
  4. skamp
  5. FLR72
  6. Fast Ed
  7. Johnny Stiletto
  8. WI Patriot
  9. BJA
  10. AaronS
  11. pvtschultz
  12. davegran
  13. GlocksRfun
  14. Pezhead992
  15. Sajuuk
  16. Sajuuk's wife
  17. ROOK WI
  18. Geoff
  19. Mugenlude
  20. uncledrew23
I haven't been able to contact NC-Tastic, so I don't know if he will show up. Neither his email nor his PM work. Johnny Stiletto is getting the supplies for us and will get some extras in case of last minute volunteers; but if we run out of reflective vests, you won't be able to participate unless you bring your own.

After we meet and organize at Ottawa park, and then we'll drive out and park along the road (at least 3 feet from the pavement when parking on the highway) at our respective starting points, gun up, and get to work. If we work toward the south first on the East side of the road and then north on the West side(Groups shall work on only one side of the road at a time. ), our sidearms will always be visible to the passing traffic, unless you are a lefty. Lefties can start at the southern end of our section of highway and work their way north.

It's a beautiful park and somebody mentioned a picnic afterward, so if you want to bring stuff for that, we could have some social time when we're done. I don't know if we can open carry at the park.

As far as I've heard, nobody has volunteered to contact the media or bring a video camera to record the event. Too bad, this would be a newsworthy event in Wisconsin and keep our cause visible. Anybody with press connections?

Thanks, and see you there!  :celebrate

Dave

I've contacted the JS and will submit a news story to Fox 6.  I'm up for a little socializing afterwards.  Even if they did have a parks firearms ban, they can't enforce it.  If you aren't comfortable, you could always disarm yourself when we are done.  I will be bringing my Suburban (with 8 passenger capacity) so I can ferry people if needed.

ETA:

I will be commuting from 'Stallis, so if anyone wants to carpool, we can meet at my place and I'll drive.

The good news is that Town of Ottawa does not have any ordinances or park rules prohibiting firearms.  If we were to have any sort of social afterwards, it would be wise to get a permit for private use, IMO.  Here's a link to their park ordinances:

Chapter 9 has some regulations on discharging a firearm, but since none of us intend to do so, we should be in the clear.

<edit>Waukesha county has a ban on carrying in its parks, but I do not believe that would apply  to the town park</edit>

I will be at the cleanup as well.  Do we have a food sign up sheet for the picnic?

Thanks for stepping forward, Geoff! I've added you to the list of 2A volunteers!

As far as I have heard, there is no food signup sheet. It looks like the picnic will mainly be social time; so unless there is a lot of interest in organizing the eating part, it'll be Bring Your Own Food (BYOF).
The other thing is that the park will probably be crowded on such a beautiful day, so there may not be any picnic tables available. That suggests Bringing Your Own Chair (BYOC).

The park rules run to two pages and have stuff in them like,

"(3). (C)  Male persons are prohibited from using the restrooms designated for female use; and female persons are prohibited from using the restrooms designated for male use."  :uhoh:

Since we all have shown more common sense than most citizens, as long as we don't park on the grass or refer to ourselves as a "Private Party"(Which would require a permit) we should be good to go. "We're just a bunch of public service volunteers who spent the day working in the hot sun and we needed a nice place to rest and relax.... If you like to read regulations, pvtschultz found them here: http://www.townofottawa.com/ordinances/chapter-08.pdf

hahaha, I just read through this entire thread looking for BYOG (since there were some other BYO_ abv. on the last page), then I got to the end and realize what it was...

Just a note, they probably aren't supplying holsters either. :P

2A Volunteers,
In case you haven't had a chance to look at the Adopt-A-Highway video, which is
here, I'll give you a brief rundown.

They recommend long pants tucked into socks with sturdy, protective boots, long sleeves, gloves and a hat. You'll have to let common sense guide you here, since the latest forecast is:

"SATURDAY...PARTLY SUNNY WITH A 40 PERCENT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S. SOUTHEAST WINDS 5 TO 10 MPH SHIFTING TO THE SOUTH AROUND 15 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON."

Whatever is your personal preference between protecting your skin or suffering heatstroke will determine what you wear. In driving our stretch of road a few times, I didn't see any brambles or wild parsnip, but I could have missed some....  :cuss: It looks like the grass might not be recently cut, so factor that in. I will be bringing a big cooler full of iced down water bottles to share. Maybe we should be packing Super Soakers instead of Sigs or Smiths....

The rest of the video just has common sense stuff like:
  • Walk and work facing the traffic. (Sorry, Lefties... :()
  • Don't try to move heavy objects.
  • Don't touch dead animals....
  • Don't touch medical waste (needles, drugs, etc) call Sheriff (262)446-5070
  • Leave groups of at least 3 bags, 3 feet from shoulder.
  • Mark anything you don't want to pick up with a bag.
  • Be Careful! It's a narrow road with a lot of traffic. We recommend: CONDITION YELLOW-   This is a relaxed state of general alertness, with no specific focal point. You are not looking for anything or anyone in particular; you simply have your head up and your eyes open. You are alert and aware of your surroundings. You are difficult to surprise, therefore, you are difficult to harm.
But of course if you're carrying, you should be at Condition Yellow already.

I'll add:
  • Make sure your safety vest doesn't cover your weapon.
Those are the high points. If I've missed anything please chime in. pvtschultz has contacted the JS and will submit a news story to Fox 6 and I've sent news blurbs to all the Madison TV stations, so we'll see if there's any interest from them.  :what:

I'm looking forward to meeting you all and spending an enjoyable day exercising my 2A rights!
:celebrate

Thanks,
Dave

This is my first OCDO gathering, so let me know what you think... but when I've organized other gatherings of forum members it was nice to have some name tags with your real name and SN, it helps to spark up conversation and put a name to a face.  Just a though.

I could pickup some sticky name tags and bring them.  :)

I've been thinking here.  We have almost 20 members participating in this litter pickup.  Do we have to start on one side, walk down, and then back up the other?  Shouldn't we have 10 guys (and gals) start on each end and walk towards the other end?  Can we do that?  Just a thought.

As I've said before, I think it makes sense to divide up into teams and then disperse along the road. For instance if we broke up into six teams, each team would cover 2.3 miles divided by 6 or 2024 feet; which is a little less than four tenths of a mile. So the first team would start at the intersection of county "D", team 2 would drive .4 mile and begin, team 3 starts at .8 mile and so on. Seven teams would each cover a little more than .3 mile.

After all the teams have covered their stretch, we carefully move to the other side and head North.

If we work smart we can get to the socializing part that much sooner.  :celebrate

It might help if one person on each team and I exchange cell numbers. I can coordinate things, plus bring cold water and help any team that is falling behind.

"Waterboy"  Dave

P.S. I think Mugenlude's idea of name tags sounds like a winner!

Hey Johnny,
Please pick up about five extra volunteer's supplies to cover those last minute add-ons.
Good advice about BYOG....

Thanks for stepping forward to pick up the supplies! And thanks to all the 2A volunteers for stepping forward to make this project a reality; that's the kind of effort and hard work that will advance our cause for lawful self-defense in Wisconsin!!

Go back to this page, and about halfway down are complete instructions on how to get there. If it still isn't clear, follow these directions from West Bend until you have passed Dousman headed South on hwy 67 and can turn right on county "D". You'll immediately see the park on your left which is our meeting place.

I'll add your name to the list. See you there at 10:00am!

Well, one day to go before the big event and everything is really coming together nicely!

So far the following activists have committed to being there:
  1. Parabellum
  2. Clint Starin
  3. NC-Tastic  please email mr.tastic at yahoo dot com
  4. skamp
  5. FLR72
  6. Fast Ed
  7. Johnny Stiletto
  8. WI Patriot
  9. BJA
  10. AaronS
  11. pvtschultz
  12. davegran
  13. GlocksRfun
  14. Pezhead992
  15. Sajuuk
  16. Sajuuk's wife
  17. ROOK WI
  18. Geoff
  19. Mugenlude
  20. uncledrew23
We haven't been able to confirm with NC-Tastic so he is a question mark at this time. If I've accidentally left somebody off the list, please let me know.

If you didn't want to participate because it would mean leaving the wife and kids home on a Saturday, the park has picnic tables and plenty of playground equipment for the young ones. The nearby Kettle Moraine State Forest has hiking trails, and there are some lakes in the area. By the way, participants only need to be 11 years old to pick up trash....

If you've been silently watching this event grow
and take shape and are not sure about joining a bunch of strangers or you haven't carried before, it's absolutely normal to feel hesitant.

I'm suggesting that this is a perfect opportunity to meet some great people who believe in their Natural Right to defend themselves and their families, as spelled out in the Second Amendment; plus it's a good chance to get the feel of a holstered weapon while you're performing everyday tasks.

Finally, if you have any questions about how to carry safely we'll have many experienced people who would be glad to take you under their wing and get you
started properly.

Added to all that is the fact that we'll be outside in Wisconsin's beautiful countryside in the fresh air performing a public service; a win-win situation if there ever was one!

See You Tomorrow!

Dave

(c)  Except as provided in sub. (4), no person may load or dis-
charge a firearm or shoot a bolt or an arrow from a bow or cross-

(d)  Except as provided in sub. (4) (a), (bg), (cg), (e), and (g),
no person may discharge a firearm or shoot a bolt or an arrow from
a bow or crossbow from or across a highway or within 50 feet of
the center of a roadway.

(f)  Subsection (2) (d) does not prohibit a person from possess-

The only supplies I received were vests and bags so bring a pair of gloves or make yourself a poker if you desire. I picked up a bunch of gloves from the dollar store for anyone that needs gloves when they come. You can imagine that they are not the best of quality but definitely better than bare hands. I called my local Home Depot to see if they had any sticks lying around that we could make pokers out of but, understandably, they were not much help. I'll try calling a couple more places.

Glad to see things moving along!  Been on vacation all week.  Okay so the cleanup is tomorrow. everybody needs to couble check about schools in the area.  I checked twice online and it looks like were in the clear.  But other peoples resources would be good also.

We have two schools in the area that ALL appear to be alott more than 1,000 feet away from our area.  But lets double check.

1.) Lakewood school on the waterville off of D

2.) and what appears to be another lakewood school of some sort on the corner of school section lake road and school section lake drive

I'm just a little paranoid I guess lol.  But no seriously it looks like were all clear both schools being at least 2,000 feet from our area.

Be assured that there are NO school grounds within 1000 feet of our cleanup route. It's been checked on the Internet and checked on the ground. There was a lot of information posted during the week you were gone.

Now that man is prepared! I'm still getting my stuff ready. That's a good list to follow; just don't forget a hat... we don't want any exploding brains out there!  :what:

The highway cleanup was a great time! Everything went smooth and I'm looking forward to the next one.

As far as the next cleanup date goes, how about either 8/22 or 8/29? Either of those days should be just fine for me. Any suggestions?

Had a good time today!  Glad to have met many of you and hope to see you guys again at the next garbage pickup.  Either of those dates sound good to me, the "real" hunting season doesn't start until september first I believe, so hell yeah I'll be there on either of the days.

The 22nd is our 39th anniversary, and the 29th is the Appleseed Shoot over in Racine. I can't miss either one!

After-Action Report

Open Carry.Org Adopt-A-Highway 2009.1 was a total success! Plan "A" to meet and organize at the Ottawa Park was countered by a 48 team Little League playoff overflowing the parking lots; so the 2A volunteers had to improvise, adapt, and overcome....

We shifted to an alternate site, organized into six teams, took the class photos, and then got on with the project.

The volunteers who showed up and followed through with their commitment were:
  1. Parabellum
  2. Springfield1911
  3. Johnny Stiletto
  4. BJA
  5. AaronS
  6. davegran
  7. GlocksRfun
  8. Sajuuk
  9. Sajuuk's wife, Sayadina
  10. ROOK WI
  11. Geoff
  12. Mugenlude
They deserve some "attaboys" and an "attagirl" from the forum. The nine who didn't show up, not so much.

In all fairness, Pezhead992 was down with a strep throat, skamp had some family business come up and pm'd me, and uncledrew23
got up late, called me en route and then never made it there; I hope he's o.k..

It only took us about 1-1/2 to 2 hours to cover the 4.6 total miles of our section... very good for our first time.

The rest of you missed an excellent adventure. We had people driving by, honking and waving and giving us the thumbs up. We talked to some curious citizens. We did some service work, educated the public a little, got a dose of fresh air, and met some great forum members face to face. The dates and times for cleanups 2009.2 and 2009.3 are yet to be decided. Stay tuned.

Afterward most of us went up to a beautiful location in Dousman called Cory Park which featured shade trees, lots of grassy open spaces and a pavilion with picnic tables and very clean restrooms. We had a choice between that park and one down in Eagle, which was farther away-more about that later....

So we sat in the shade for an hour and a half or so, sharing sandwiches and stories. A very congenial group, and not one gunfight broke out....

After we all started home, I decided to find the park in Eagle to check it out for next time. It's a good thing we didn't go there! Not only were there baseball players, but this place also had a custom car show and a carnival complete with cotton candy, rides, and a ferris wheel! The place was jam-packed!

It was one of those days I'll remember for a long time. Thanks, everybody!

Dave

Could have made some after pick up stew with that road kill raccoon...

Say just to let all know, I did find two ticks on myself, so ya might want to check.  Both came right out (not my first).  I bet that's what bit Parabellum in the head.

It was great getting out to see other people the feel so strong about gun rights.  And to show the rest of the people that we are a good group of Americans.

Please don't forget to let us know when you all want to go back.  I will go for sure.

I was thinking of getting the group photo printed real nice, and sending a thank you to Jim Doyle for all his support on open carry (well, his nice words from the Dells. back in March '06).  I am sure he would like it (yes that is a joke).

I'm sorry that I couldn't make it guys.  I was fully prepared, and then my post-partum wife, well, had a major post-partum episode leaving her with our two little boys.  I guess two weeks isn't enough time.  :?

I'll be there for the next one, count on that.  I say pick a date and run with it.

This is what they call a "Teaching Moment". I'm very glad you made the decision that you did! Obviously, supporting your wife and kids is much more important than picking up trash.

The only problem was that we didn't know that you weren't coming. We ended up wasting a half-hour waiting for you to show up. Next time if anybody has a change of plans PLEASE let us know with a post or a PM so we don't worry and we don't wait. O.K?

I think that particular raccoon would have probably needed to marinate a little longer, too....  :what:

So far, August 22nd and 27th have been mentioned but no consensus has been reached. I wouldn't be able to be at either one of those dates because of our 39th Anniversary and the Appleseed Project in Racine.

I don't think that we've been sensored.  Mike (or someone) moves the threads over to the "Hot Topics" area so it appears on the OCDO homepage.  We got moved back to the WI forum now that the event is over and non-eventful.

Easy there shooter, we're all on the same team.  :dude:

I did disagree with moving it because it may have prevented a lot of WI members from seeing the thread and participating.

Now that our first cleanup day is past, it's time to evaluate the experience so we can improve it for next time.

If you have any comments about the whole event from planning to execution, please jot down your thoughts in a post or PM me if you'd be more comfortable with that.
  • What was good?
  • What was not good?
  • What went right?
  • What went wrong?
  • What should be changed?
  • What should stay the same?
  • How can we get more participation?
  • Should we have a regular picnic afterward?
  • What about the rest of our families - spouse & kids at the park while we work?
  • Any other suggestions?
I'll boil down all the comments I get into a list and we can talk them over. Your opinion is important!

Thanks,
Dave

I was thinking more in terms of the spouses and kids being back at the park while we worked. As you probably remember, there's playground equipment, tennis courts, ball diamonds, a beautiful covered pavilion with very clean restrooms, and plenty of lush green grass to play on.

Yeah meeting at that same park afterwards again would be cool.  And maybe some of us could bring some food and snacks.  But that BIG sub was good, thanks Geoff.  I hope the parks more than 1000' from the 2 schools!  I was surprised the first one went off without "much" of a hitch ( the original meet spot was overrun).   Overrall I think the next one should be like the first, but with maybe a little more of a picnic too afterwards.

Thanks to GlocksRfun I learned that there are two schools in Dousman and there was some question as to if Cory Park fell within the 1000' school zone, so I cobbled up a map to show how close the zones approach. Our little get together after the trash pickup was legal, but just....

The park is most of the city block except for a few houses on the south and SW.

Looks like we can play tennis but can't chase a loose ball to the East without disarming.... Might slow the game down a little.

I can't wait for the next clean-up, and the idea of a picnic with the kids would be great since they were the reason Sajuuk and I had to leave so soon last time. Although, I might have to give up my spot on the road so that I could supervise at the park :?. Our daughter is almost 12 so maybe she could team up with her dad but there was a good amount of traffic so we'll have to see.

I think next time all that would make it better IMO would be to double check the park that was our meeting place to make sure it'll be available. But, we now have a plan B meeting spot so we'll be set
And, I'd like to have even more people to meet and make the work even quicker (to get to the partying sooner) (maybe even some more women? I know I'm not the only one out there :D)

We don't have opinion on the date, just pick one and we'll set our calendar. See you there....

There's nothing like enthusiasm!  :celebrate

My wife is beginning to see the importance of taking responsibility for her own safety, so she may
start carrying and join us after she gets up to speed in gun handling, The Four Rules, and marksmanship.

I wondered what kind of holster you used, Sayadina, and if it was comfortable?

Awesome job on the map Davegran.  I knew it was close,  glad we didn't pull a Flynn.      I'll try to get my g/f to the next one.   And if not,  I'll stop by Hooters and see if any of the ladies there are pro 2nd.  They'll get a reaction for sure.  August 15ish weekend is the only one that won't work for me.

I had a great time & cannot wait to get out there again.

Now for my two cents...

I actually thought the time spent on the highway was to SHORT.

I was there to support Open Carry, say HI to everyone, do a good thing, get some fresh air and show the general public that guns on law abiding people are nothing to be worried about.

I do what I can in my neck of the woods over here, but I would have liked to have been on the highway for a longer amount of time to bring more notice to our cause. We were all walking billboards, and billboards need to be seen to be effective.

I personally would have had NO problem walking the entire thing, in both directions for what I believe in (strong legs under the beergut), even if it would have been raining - how many more would have seen us and honked and/or hooted instead of the .4 mile out & back?

I'll walk real sloooooow next time.

An after event picnic would be great, as I think it would be good for the public to see us. Drag picnic tables closer to the road so the public can see our hips more clearly, I don't want them to doubt what they saw.

I have friends with guns, but they lack the testicular fortitude to gun up in public like we all did (apologies to Mrs. S - 'ovarian fortitude' maybe). That day was huge for us, for everyone that came past, we made a mark (word has gotten back to me quite a few times "friend of a friend of a friend" wise). I have had friends & strangers alike ask me "Hey where is your highway?" Then comes the open carry 'sell' ;). Actions speak louder than words, it would have been nice to see EVERYONE who had signed up out there - those who were ill get a free pass.

With my other thread that has the picture I took, I'd like to throw a press release together as hinted about, but have no idea how, or who to contact once I have it together.

Count me in for the next one I WILL BE THERE AGAIN. If there happens to be another baseball/soccer tourney going on, I'll be parked in the same spot on "D".

You know, that spot on "D" actually worked out pretty well! Other than burning up a half hour moving and waiting for more people (I think we should just start on time next time..) it was actually a handier place to meet, close to our section. It was great the way you all improvised, adapted, and overcame....

I'm using a Soft Armor holster it's a generic version of an Uncle Mike's style I believe, it's nice and comfy. It's ambidextrous (sp?) and has both a belt loop and a clip. I chose it because the retention strap is a snap instead of velcro, to me it feels safer, since the cops use snaps. :? Plus it won't wear out as easily from the constant disarming for the drive home.:X

I've been looking for a polymer one more like my husbands Blackhawk but I'm not having much luck :(

So far, the only objection that I saw to the above dates was from davegran. Any thoughts on another date? I personally would hate to leave anyone out that wants to come, though I realize that might be impossible. The majority of the other weekends in August do not work real well for me but I can always hand off the signs, vests, etc. for someone else to bring if we decide on another date that I cannot do.

A couple other dates that I can think of that could work (for me anyway) would be Aug 1 or Sept 12. We could then do our last cleanup in mid to late October. If I were to choose, I would choose August 1st to space things out a little bit.

I'll tell you what, go ahead and confirm Aug 22nd and I'll see if my wife would spend part of our anniversary helping us with our project. I just ordered her a holster which should be comfortable for a woman with curves.   she likes service projects, people, and picnics, so she might go for it.  :celebrate If not, I'll be at the last cleanup.

Thanks,
Dave

The wife and I can be there.  Maybe we'll even bring a babysitter this time so we don't have to leave early.

rickrich didn't have time to contact the Adopt-A-Highway lady, so he pm'd me her email and today I sent the following message to her:

"
Dear Ms. Hanson,
I'm with the "OPENCARRY.ORG WISC CHAPTER" organization that recently adopted the section of Highway 67 that runs from CTH "C” TO CHT "D (East) just south of Dousman. We completed our first pickup on June 27th and I'm not sure if the notification was sent in to you on the proper form so I'm including it as an attachment. I've also included a copy of our after-action report.

As stated in the report, we had such a good turnout of volunteers and our group was so efficient, that we covered our section of road much faster than we had anticipated. We are hoping to be able to take on an additional section of road, since we had such an enjoyable experience that even more volunteers will be participating in the next pickup.

We were wondering if the next section of highway just north of ours was available for adoption. Then it would be a simple matter for us to clean up both sections since we wouldn't have to pack up and move everybody somewhere else.

We're planning our next pickup for August 22nd, so if we could have our new assignment in place by then, we could clean it also. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if that section is open.

Best Regards"

So hopefully she'll get back to me next week with an answer. If she comes back and says that section is already taken, I'll see if that crew wouldn't mind either taking on a different stretch of road, or just giving up their section for a good cause.

I'm sure we'll be even more efficient next time. One thing that will help is that as soon as a crew gets their section done, they can proceed to the other side of the road and do the second half of their assignment. A few crews did that last time and the world as we knew it didn't come to an end , so I think it'll work out fine. If they finish up both of their sides then they can help any other crew that isn't finished. Sound like a plan?

Careful how much further North, looks like Kettle Moraine Middle School & Dousman Elementary are 1.8 miles north of our northern sign (Source: Google Earth) and easily within 1000' of 67.

I am okay with walking slower.

I am okay with taking 10-15 minutes out of my day to educate others on why I carry - we are all ambassadors. There is nothing like watching someone curious as to what I am doing, when talked to nice & calmly, start to smile & loosen up a little...

Map should be below if I did everything correctly:

Well, we'll see what sections are available and if they're suitable for us and then we'll take a poll and see if everybody is on board with it.

Thanks for the heads-up on the school zone! Two heads are usually better than one.  :D :D

I got in touch with Tina Hanson, the Waukesha County DOT contact for Adopt-A-Highway to investigate the possibility of adopting an additional stretch of road if everybody was up for it. She sent me the following email:
Hi! Right now you have STH 67 from CTH C to CTH D (East) and there are two more segments available on STH 67-One is 67-067-10 which is Walworth Co Line to Betts Rd and the other is Betts Rd to the Railroad Line. I'm not sure which you want, so I am sending you a whole packet with a list of all available segments in Waukesha. You should get it in the next couple of days. Just fill it out and send it like the last time. Thanks so much for your interest and support!Once I get the packet, I'll share the locations with you so we can hash it over and come to a consensus. It may be that the majority won't see anything suitable, in which case we'll just forget it.

I should be able to go, but the X-GF's house is right across the street from the park.  Hopefully she isn't there so we can all avoid an unpleasant situation.

That being said, if anyone wants to meet at my house and carpool down, let me know.  My only problem is my "race truck" only has 2 seats in it, and no one will ride with me on the motorcycle, but if anyone wants to stop over for dinner or something, that should work too.

Also, just as a FYI, right across main street from the park in Eagle is an elementary school tucked in the trees.

Hi everybody!

My wife and I just got back from tent camping in Vilas County; no computer, no cell phones, just sharing a beautiful campsite with the loons and the eagles on Star Lake.  :D

We're getting geared up for our second roadside pickup of the year on August 22nd at 10:00am. So far the following people have said for sure that they will participate in the project:
  1. Sajuuk
  2. Sayadina
  3. *Sajuuk & Sayadina's 11-year old (11 is the youngest allowed by DOT)
  4. Johnny Stiletto
  5. ROOK_WI
  6. Geoff
  7. GlocksRfun
  8. GlocksRfun's girl friend
  9. gollbladder13-------------Organizing Potluck; See Message Below Posted @ 11:28am
  10. *gollbladder13's fiance
  11. iceman71
  12. hunter7jl
  13. AaronS
  14. nevinsb
  15. davegran
  16. *davegran's wife
  17. *pvtschultz
  18. *Crushered
  19. *Trilad

*Possible participants

Need media contact

For you new people, our
section of roadway is just north of Eagle, WI on Hyw 67 and runs on both sides of the road from cty C Northward to the first intersection with cty D. We're going to meet at 10:00am on cty D just north of our section. The following map should make it all more clear. Johnny Stiletto will have to check and see if he has enough reflective vests for the new people.

After we meet and get organized into teams, then we'll drive out and park along the road at our respective starting points, gun up, and get to work. We'll work toward the south first on the East side of the road and then north on the West side; that way our sidearms will always be visible to the passing traffic. When you are done with your section on the East side of the road, cross over and work back north to complete the other side. When you're done, you can help any other teams that haven't finished yet.

After the highway pickup is completed, we'll have a picnic in Cory Park in Dousman. To get to the park, go North on Hwy 67 from our section of road to Dousman, turn West on Hwy Z, which is also Ottawa Ave. Go to the stop sign and turn right (North) on Main St. You'll see the park in just a few hundred feet.

Dousman Landmarks

Most of the park is outside the 1000' school zone, so you may carry at your own discretion. West of Main St starts the 1000' Catholic school zone and just past the tennis court on the East side of the park is the beginning of the 1000' public school zone.

School Zones in Red

We can either all bring our own food or do a pot luck or? Somebody else will have to step forward and organize that. We also need a person or persons with connections to the media to publicize our event. My efforts were a dismal failure last time so somebody else can try.

That's about it for now. As the date gets closer, we'll flesh out some of the details. Let me know if you want to be added to the list of Second Amendment Volunteers.

Thanks,
Dave

You can add my fiance to the list of possible participants.  She most likely won't be carrying (we only own one gun so far in my household), but wants to support me in my goings-on.  Depending on city ordinances, I might try to talk her into carrying an airsoft to help convey her support.

I like the potluck idea, and would be happy to help organize who brings what (are there grills on the park grounds?).

I believe there are a limited number; but as nice as this park is, they might be in use by the time we got there. Probably better to bring our own, and of course our own chairs.

Thanks for taking on the organization of the Pot Luck!

No problem.  Since my fiance is only 3 weeks from her due date on the 22nd, she doesn't want to stress herself too much, so she won't be cleaning with us, but will be at the cookout.  She'll be making some sort of noodle salad.

I'll start the potluck list here.   If you can bring a grill and everything that goes with it, please let me know.

-gollbladder13* - brats, noodle salad
-nevinsb - nacho cheese doritos
-hunter7jl*
-Sajuuk and Sayadina - fritos and chili

*bringing a grill (please also bring charcoal, etc with it!)

Don't forget your piece!

Count me in as tenative.  I still need to get clearance from my COO/CFO/Wife prior to loading up, but it looks good for the cleanup, just not the lunch afterwards.

Sajuuk and I will be coming to the picnic afterwards, we're still working on bringing a few extra volunteers so if you'd like you can put my brothers Crushered and Trilad as possibles.
We don't have a grill, but we'll bring some chilli and fritos scoops they were a big hit at my last family reunion and it works for making chili dogs too, if someone brings hot dogs :D

See you all there :)

I got the packet of information from Tina and here is what it has for available segments:(I don't know why two of them have zero mileage....)  :uhoh:

                                                   ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY

                                        Available Segments By County, Highway

County            Hwy      Site#                Description                                    Miles

Waukesha       016   67-016-11  EB FROM CTH C TO STH 83                           2.00
Waukesha       059   67-059-20  N. SHERMAN ST TO ROAD X GOING E          2.69
Waukesha       059   67-059-21  ROAD "X" TO WI. CALUMET RAILROAD       2.38
Waukesha       059   67-059-43  Woods Rd. to Green County Rd.                       1.16
Waukesha       067   67-067-10  WALWORTH CO. LINE TO BETTS RD            2.15
Waukesha       067   67-067-11  BETTS RD. TO RAILROAD ST.                       2.02
Waukesha       074   67-074-30  Lindsay Rd. to MAIN ST.                                 1.88
Waukesha       164   67-164-22  GLENDALE RD TO STH 59                              2.00
Waukesha       164   67-164-24  KELSEY DR TO COUNTY LINE ROAD            0.00
Waukesha       164   67-164-25  EDGEWOOD RD TO KELSEY                            0.00
Waukesha       190   67-190-15  SIMMONS AVE. TO STH 164 WB LANES       1.41

After a quick look at the gazetteer, it doesn't appear like these sections are anywhere near our piece of road, so we'd have to pack up and travel to a new location... not too desirable. If anybody wants to do more research on these segments, please go ahead and then report back with specifics; otherwise, let's forget about them for now.

I'm not the organizer, so I don't want to overstep any bounds, but perhaps we should open a new topic on this so it gets stickied?  That way it shows the new date, has all the information on the top, and might get more people involved.
