That could open up a whole can of worms...I absolutely, completely love it. Looking at it as far more than just gun rights, but rather all kinds of unwelcome federal laws being kicked out of the state. I could not be more excited about a piece of legislation. Edit: My state reps and senator were all contacted and urged to support this bill. I hope that everyone else who reads this bill takes the time to do so as well. YAHOOOOOOOOOO!!! GO, IDAHO! I especially liked line 29: WHEREAS, Congress has inappropriately delegated its monetary authority to the private federal reserve bank, thus failing to protect and provide a sound monetary system as defined and mandated by the Constitution of the United States, forcing an unstable currency on us resulting in the past, and the current, economic perils; Is it just me or would this be the first state to expressly criticize the Fed? |

I believe Montana beat us to the punch with criticism of the fed when they enacted legislation to prohibit an assault weapons ban (or any firearms ban) by the federal government in their state. It was a very nice bill...though our legislators did 'em one up. Go Idaho! |

State Reps contacted and urged to support the Resolution.03/04 House intro - 1st rdg - to printing Looks to me like it was sent back to the State Affairs Committee. Does anyone know what needs to happen to keep this rolling? It would suck for it to die in Committee. |

HJM 004 is still in the House State Affairs Committee after 7 days. I have no Representatives on that Committee, but the Chairman has been contacted. HJM 003 spent 14 days in the House State Affairs Committee before the 2nd reading, so HJM 004 may still be good to go. Please contact your Representatives on that Committee soon. Once the 2nd reading is done (if it gets that far) it is likely only a couple of days before the entire House votes on it. HJM 003 is in the Senate State Affairs Committee. It passed in the House with no opposition! Reps on the Senate SAC also need to hear from us. My Senator is, again, not on that committee, but I contacted the Chairman. |

Heard back from my rep, figured I'd post it here. I'm glad to hear that he's stepping up to the plate, especially since he's on the relevant committee. Three cheers for Rep. Brent Crane! Thank you for your concerns on this subject. I do plan on voting for this bill. It ensures our tenth amendment rights and I feel it is important to send a message to the Federal Government that we feel strong about States’ Rights in Idaho. I appreciate you writing me with your opinions and concerns on this issue. Feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns you might have. Sincerely, Brent Crane Idaho State Representative District 13 - Nampa Last edited on Fri Mar 13th, 2009 04:35 am by NightOwl |

Saw this press release: http://www.idahostatesman.com/531/story/702507.html However, the page for HJM004 hasn't shown it leaving committee. Am I correct in assuming that the bill actually passed out of SA, even though the page didn't update? |

Yeah, I noticed that it's updated now. Somehow the press found out prior to the webpage did, lol. Just didn't want to be the only person posting in this thread. I'm very excited about this bill, and not really sure why there seems to be so little interest from other folks. |

For some it's all three. Idaho is one of the freest States in the nation, but many people, especially those who grew up here, take that freedom for granted. I did not grow up here and I recognize the vast differences that separate Idaho from its more liberal neighbors. Bills like HJM004 and HJM003 are part of what keeps Idaho free. I have done what I can to spread information on these bills, but I am generally met with apathy and indifference. I fear for our Republic when something that should be an obvious positive is unimportant to the general public. |

I hope I don't get in trouble but I copied this and forwarded it to my state rep, for similar bill. The only problem I see is that it assumes the three recipients can actually read, and that has proven to be a false assumption. But GO IDAHO! |

I share your excitement and have been passing the information around to any of my friends that I think will care. Frankly, even if it passes in the House, I doubt it will pass the Senate. But it won't be for lack of trying! |

Anybody know a good reporter who could write a nice article about it for the paper? I've tried looking through the paper, but didn't find any that really stood out. |

I was pretty sure it was going to pass the house...it's the senate I'm concerned about. Crossing my fingers. Never did hear a peep out of my state senator. |

I'll be continuing to mail my Senator and the State Affairs Committee. I'm not very good at phone conversations or I'd call them up, too. I'm much better with print. If any of you are comfortable and articulate on the phone, give 'em a call. They will take that seriously! |

If this gets passed, I want a copy of the actual bill framed and put on my wall. That is just unbelievably sweet. |

Thanks...I was wondering why it went back to the House. Now I know...time to send a letter to good ol' Butch Otter. Not that I think he'd refuse to sign the thing, he seems as fed up as the rest of us. |

This is a house joint memorial, I helped work on it with the newly formed Sons of the Republic, unfortunately a House Joint Memorial is a very strong Opinion not a Bill. Now you all are aware we did get passed HB229 which is in a time of martial law they can not confiscate your weapons. We have a Bill like Montana's ready and Representatives that we will be supporting this year if you are interested we will need your help. Also We are going to start approaching our county sheriffs as to where they stand on the constitution. Check out Sheriff Mack on a google search. |
