I have a place in mind, but I want to check with the owner/manager first.

Also to give everyone plenty of time, I would probably plan it for atleast a month ahead of time.

Most likely, it will be on a friday or saturday night.

I will post more info after I talk with the manager.

I hope y'all don't think I'm dropping the ball, but I have gotten busy and doesn't look like I will be able to make it by to talk to the manager until later this week, it will get done, but I have to make my $ when I can.

If anyone else has a place in mind, by all means check with the manager and speak up...It would be nice if we had a few places we could meet and maybe do monthly rotation.

One thing I have been thinking about too, just because we call it a open carry meet-up, be sure to tell your friends that OCing is not a requirement, I am going to invite everyone I know (OCers, CCers & 'no carriers').  IMO, we need to show everyone, starting with our friends & family, that we are just regular people who just so happen to accept the responsibility of carrying a firearm in the open to protect ouselves, our property and the ones we care about.

Good, I wanted to make it to the Hammond meet, but had to work that day.  I'm sure both Mrs and JR Mississippian will be coming with me wherever we meet.

Maybe someone will chime in with an open-carry friendly place around Gulfport.

When I said "just west of the border", I was referring to Mississippi, not to any particular city. If y'all want to move it closer to LA to pick up Mr. and Mrs. Mark, I will still make it if it's on a night or weekend.

XD-GEM from the Chocolate City may even wander over that direction, too, possibly bringing one or two others.

It's simple. You set a date and location, everyone else adjusts their schedules to be there. It's a simple matter of priorities.
Obviously, OC is not a priority with most, especially if it conflicts with other, more "important" matters.

Yeah, it is simple but it seems if a meet's not set two months in advance y'all are bitchin that it's too soon and nobody can plan that quick etc etc.. If you think I'm lyin, just go back and look at the posts in our own section on this subject. It's ridiculous. Go look at the Michigan's Events Schedule thread and see just how pathetic the OC movement is down here.  They do meets, dinners, picnic, litter pickups, you name it they use it as an excuse to OC together. When was the first post on this thread made? OVER A MONTH AGO and still no place/date/time!

No jeering from Louisiana either since a similar thread went from the 28th of April till May 20th to finally set the same. And it's in JUNE because May was just too soon to pick something. Bah!

I was hoping MS would set something up I could go to since it seems I can't ever manage getting to one of these rare LA get togethers.

All throughout history, it's been the same story. Even in the old testament, the Jews gave an excuse as to why they couldn't manage to attend the great feast the Master set for them. Today is no different.

Whether it's OC or whatever, most "movements" fail for lack of seriousness on the part of the people. No wonder the American revolution was fought by appx. 3 % of the population of the day. Most Amerikans would just as soon sit back and watch vs actually getting involved.

Liberty is NOT a spectator sport.

i agree with everything you just posted Mr. Mark. i simply saying i cant plan something because i work a crazy schedule and am always on call... If its planned and i off i will attend. I cant miss work though. I carry a gun to protect me and my family and work to feed us lol both are of high importance.

Ya'll locals need to find a good spot for a meetup. It would be bad if I had to drive right past you on I-10 on my way to the closest other meetup...in Baton Rouge. :P

Well, I apologize for not being able to speak with the manager of the restaurant I was thinking of, ALOT has been going on with my business and I have been fighting tooth & nail to keep a customer...A good customer...WAY too much drama here lately, if I lose this customer, my $$ will go waaay down:cry:.

Anyway, the place I was thinking of was the LY Buffet on Hwy 90 in Pascagoula, they are a chinese style restaurant but have seafood also, if anyone wants to set a date, go ahead, I have OC'd there quite a bit with absolutely no problems and I don't feel like we would have any if a group of us showed up.  They know me quite well as I have been going there for years.

I am going to pass this ball to someone else...Someone set a date, I will try my best to bring not only myself, but my family and a few friends as well.

Who knows, I may even be able to make it to LA meet also:).

PS, if anyone knows of a better place, name it...I am just a passenger on this train;).

Carry on:cool:.

If there's one "good" thing to come from this recession, it's a reminder to companies of just how important good customers are! :)

Oh, and I hope no one thinks I was criticizing you guys with my post. ;) I just don't find enough excuses to drive to Mississippi to OC, and this would be a good one!

I like Chinese buffets. We're going to get lots of googly eyes, though! :what: :celebrate

We may get a few stares from other customers, but the staff is used to seeing me carry.

If I am able to make it, some of the people I will be inviting will all be pro 2A, but not all OC, or even carry at all, and there will be atleast one 11 year old there, my son will not miss a trip to the LY for nothing.

Hey guys, if anyone is interested in carpooling to the Louisiana meetup in Baton Rouge, I can pick you up if we meet somewhere close to I-10. I'll be driving in from Mobile, probably leaving Mobile at 8:30 or so. My vehicle seats myself and four others.

Okay, let's say it's official, Cracker Barrel @ Airline and I-12, high noon on Saturday June 13th.
Hope to see ALL of you there then !!!

Any further info on you guys in MS. getting together?

In case y'all haven't followed it, next OC meet in LA is at the Shoney's in Marrero, La. on Barataria blvd near Lapalco blvd (Westbank area near New Orleans for those who don't know) at 11:00am on July 8th.

Hope maybe a couple of our brothers from MS can make it.

No I haven't, it seems every time I go there, the owner is either gone or off that day.

I have OC'd in there probably a dozen or so times with no problems so if you set a date, I will try my best to make it.

ok it was mentioned july 25th to meet on the alabama forums but i figure since there is just a handful of us here in south ms and al why not do it together and that will be a good central location and if anybody wants to come from La. it wouldnt be a bad drive.

Do you think you will be free on that date? i cant promise but so far i good for the 25th of this month.

I have a concern or two about the meet-up over in AL and I doubt I go.  AL has some kind of 'demonstration' law and I am afraid there may be enough gray area in this law to give law enforcement a good reason to frown on the gathering.

IMO, the best thing to do in AL is for friends to plan a place to go eat out and not mention OCing at all, then if you show up OCing...Great!

that is one reason i suggest we all meet in ms at that place you mentioned, very low possibility of leo encounter which is good for our first meetup. We dont need to get arrested the first time we meet for sure.

LY Buffet chinese restaurant.  It is located on Hwy 90 in Pascagoula about 1/4 mile west of Walmart & is on the north side of the road...If you go past the hospital, you've gone too far.

And for those who do not really care for chinese style food, they have fried fish, boiled shrimp, boiled crab claws, fried chicken etc, etc.

If I am able to make it, my wife and 11yo son will be there with me (there is no way they will let me go w/o them :D)

BTW, I am not going to consider this an OC meet-up, this is just friends meeting who have similar interests...OCing (or even CCing) is not required:)

Waddya ya'll think we/I oughtta do?

Everyone meet in the parking lot area and walk in as a group or

Have me tell the waiter/waitress that sits me that I have more people coming and tell them we are with Open Carry Dot Org, that way any stragglers that may come in late won't get 'lost', they can just say they are looking for the 'Open Carry' group and let the waiter/waitress point the way?

Or both:question:

If the restaurant was in the county, I would say carry anyway but just make sure it is not covered as I have been seen by JCSO deputies quite a few times and have never been asked for my permit.  But AFAIK I have never been seen OCing by Pascagoula PD...I guess I need to go back to eating at The Annex and see what happens.

Have you applied and got approved for your permit already, and if so, do you have to wait on your permit in the mail. Mobile prints and laminates or whatever it is they do to make it official, they do it as soon as your approved. Maybe you should go to mobile and see if they issue out non-residence permits, if so, you could be good to go if your approved, cause the Al. permit is good in MS also.

Applied, pretty sure they have no reason to deny me, that was the 15th of last month, so it should be coming any time, I may not be able to come as I was hoping fiance' takes precedent

Well I'll be, they are sure taking there time getting your permit to you. That's how Al. works with Drivers License around here, take your info and payment then send your real hard license in the mail about a month later.

Yeah same here, hopefully we can get more to come out the next time, anyways we just have to take things as they come to us, at times. I wish there where more of us there, but at least all of us showed up, and all was good.
