Open Carry Ohio has been trying to get things going again. We are starting to get a core of people together and have been working on a flyer and looking at a few events we might be able to participate in over the next few months. We need more people to keep this going. I know the summer months are coming up and this is the time that a lot of family events take place…But it is also prime OC time. This is an important issue and I hope that all of you can commit some time to our cause. We have been meeting for the last three months at basically two places. http://tinyurl.com/dcpxpy Bunny's Hasty Tasty Pancake House 3509 Linden Ave Dayton, OH 45410 (937) 254-8431 and…. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Dayton&state=OH&address=1235+N+Main 1235 North Main St. in Dayton. This is a house that was a funeral home and the current owner, Brian allows us to meet there for free. He is a pro gun person and understands our concerns. So it is going like this: The 2nd Thursday of each month, or the weekend after the 2nd Thursday, we are going to be planning some kind of social/educational event. This could be something as simple as a meet and greet at Hasty Tasty or maybe some community event (i.e. County Fair, Community Festival, etc.). Start times can vary depending on what we are doing. The 4th Thursday of each month will be a “Working Meeting” at the N. Main Street address. The purpose of this “working” meeting is to continue to develop our plans and materials for our functions. Bring your own food or drinks. There are a couple of local restaurants nearby and a Domino’s pizza just a couple blocks up the street. Start time will be 6:00p.m. We are hoping you can put this on your calendars and help us with this effort. NEXT MEETING…..MAY 28TH, 2009 at the N. Main Street address at 6:00 p.m.  |

At one of our meetings I said I would check out restaurants in Springfield for holding meetings. I have eaten at Joe's U.S. 40 Grille in Springfield on many occasions, and have always been impressed with their food, service, and family-friendly atmosphere. And each time I ate there, I was open-carrying; there were no problems. Ok seriously people, how are we supposed to achieve our goals if no one shows up to the meetings so that we can get this going. We all have a common goal, and the only way we can get that goal of victory is to have people show up and help with the cause. |

how many showed besides the core group? some ppl may think it's not imortant enough to take a couple hours out of their day every 2 weeks to ensure the freedom to keep and bear arms and to educate ppl in the fact that OC is legal and just as important a freedom as your right to choose your own religion or to have a lawyer present before cops quesstion you. some would rather sit in front of a TV for that hour and let others do the work. I drive an hour each way for the meetings because I see this as important as any other civil liberty. it is well worth a couple hours of my time every so often. alot of ppl can't make it due to travel time, but I'm sure there are others locally that can try and make at least 1 meeting a month. 2 hours a month would be a small thing to give up to help ensure the preservation of our OC freedom. |

Sorry to hear this effort isn't going well. Unfortunately this sounds like what happened the first go-round about two years ago. At that time the guy, (besides the REAL spark plug, Lthrnck) named 'Korupt' who started the Open Carry Ohio group and website just disappeared off the face of the earth, never to be heard from again. Take a look at http://ocohio.myfreeforum.org to see what I'm referring to.  After that it wasn't easy for Lthrnck to convince me make more fifty + mile drives for meetups that amass five or less people. I will come back if things start to look up again though. Well I have been tossing around the thought of moving this to the Columbus area. Columbus is in the center of the state and maybe we would get a better turn out from other areas of the state. If we moved the date to a Saturday maybe more people could make it also. We will talk about it tonight. And Yes to all ,, I do understand that travel time is an issue and I hold "NO" ill feelings for anyone who can not make the drive. WE will get this going somehow and maybe some of you can help out when you can. I have driven and been driven to several OC functions around the state, it can get expensive sometime. So let's keep trying and see what happens. |

Meanwhile however it surprises me that others around the rest of the state haven't formed their own similar groups. Open carry advocates/activists are desperately needed in the NE part of Ohio. |

Actually the bad part is the oil was changed just 200 miles ago, what caused it was that a big hole blew out in my coolant lines and blew all of the coolant out. Which caused it to get really hot....extremely quick....then the heads cracked and the gaskets blew out....luckily the block is still good, I just gotta spend about 600 bucks to get it fixed....  |

My corollary would be: What's the rush? It's not like our* group has been growing by leaps and bounds, either now or during Lthrnck's first attempt a couple of years ago. <Rant mode on!> *I made a pretty good effort the first go-round, but when it became just Lthrnck and myself that kinda put me off a little. Only been to one of these newer events so far, guess the best attendance has been about 8 according to this thread. IMO we should be doing better than that on a slow night by now. Hasty Tasty is a 50 mile + ride for me btw; we have at least a couple posters in this thread who live a good deal closer and to the best of my knowledge all they've done is TALK about showing up someday. It just could be that Lthrnck is getting a little frustrated, I certainly am. And, we have folks in the Ohio section of the board who live in other parts of the state and keep saying: "Can't you hold these closer to ME?" You need to post the WHOLE address of the Hasty Tasty. I am not one wanting to reasearch back weeks and months to find / map quest the address / how many miles it is from me. Due to Brian D's request I would like to host open carry meetings in Northern Ohio. Soon as I get more than 5 people interested, I'll find a place to meet somewhere south of Vermilion, Or send me your addresses, if your interested, I'll find a place, averaged between everyone. Since I was part organizer of the May 30th Cleveland Walk (we had only 10) I would 'guess' that since a organization didn't sponser the walk/march, no one will have the brass to attend, lots of excuses, no show. Lets start a new organization that sponsers walks monthly. Most of the organizations I belong too don't care for my leadership. I'm not to announce I'm even a member. Maybe theres better places to donate support too. By the People, For the People. I'm retired, I have no political ambitions, I would like to support guys, like Lthrnk, JCase from Lima, rDigital and FF777. These 5 cases of LEO abusement FIRE ME UP. Anybody else care to add any input? |

I plan on being there until at least noon, if not later. I hope everyone sticks around for a bit, but that's up to all your own schedules. the best head count I can get atm is about 10. |

Just found out that their is a Tea Party going on just south of Dayton in Srpingboro.. might try to go to that after breakfast.. Everyone thing about it. Also Sunday there is a Second Amendment March, townhall meeting in St. Marys at 4pm... think about that also.. |

Ok guy's this is the new meeting schedule: SECOND Thursday of each month at 6pm at the Hasty Tasty And the FOURTH Saturday of each month at 1pm at the Hasty Tasty See you guys there!!! |

Well it was brought to my attention tonight that the 28th is the weekend after Thanksgiving. I was thinking about cancelling the meeting, but I'm not going to. So I will be there... I hope others will show up. |
