I was in Tri State this afternoon for some pistol loads. I had my pistol semi-concealed, meaning if you looked hard enough, it was pretty obvious it was a pistol. I was talking with one of the guys at the gun counter about getting an extra magazine pouch for my Glock 22 mags. We talked about different holsters and I made mention of my SERPA, which I pointed to when we were talking. He didn't seem to make an issue; could have been due to the fact it wasn't blatently displayed, not sure. Either way, Tri State is the epicenter of all that is ammo in hunting in the Pullman / Moscow area, so I wouldn't totally discount them. Just use good judgment. They've got tons of great firearms and plenty of ammo.
True, they do have a really great selection of guns, ammo, fishing, and a lot of other stuff...hardware, housewares, camping etc. And believe me, it pains me to have to avoid going there, I love the place. But they do not support your right to OC...the excuse being that other customers have expressed to the management that they felt "uncomfortable" with people carrying openly in the store, as if open carrying a handgun on your hip makes you instantly dangerous, when concealed carrry does not.
It's an asinine policy, created to placate the sheeple, rather than taking the time to explain to them, and defend us, and make them understand that we are no more dangerous for open carrying than someone who is CC'ing. So as far as I am concerned, and there are plenty of other OC'ers in the area who agree, they don't get my business, unless I just need something right away and can't wait to go elsewhere to get it.

State liquor stores can't ban you from carrying, openly or concealed.

All great points from the philosophical perspective of open carry and people's inherent resistance to it, but if I had to make an argument on Tri State's behalf, I would say that they are running a private business and if they want to deny open carry, that's their prerogative. True, it seems lame, but if I were a business owner and I felt that an open carry policy would reduce the number of customers coming in my doors, the decision would be pretty simple.

The choice is up to you. In Washington you are legal to carry a weapon into a liquor store. If a sign is posted saying off-limits to under 21 the sign improperly placed. A simple email to the Liquor control Board for your area will rectify the situation. I've dealt with the LCB, if you should need help let me know.

But you see, in their misguided efforts that is exactly what they have done...reduced the number of OC'ers and CC'ers who come in their doors...and who probably spend a HELL of a lot more money on average than the sheeple who this policy was created to placate.
But you feel free to give them your money if you want to, I just choose to shop in places that support ALL of my Constitutional rights, regardless of how offensive that may be to some people.

It would be neat to see businesses set rules similar to Kennesaw, Georgia's law- why not *require* open or concealed carry, barring personal or other reasons? This way, innocent, law-abiding citizens would be able to protect and defend themselves in an adverse situation.

| Spoke with Mike (gun dept mgr.) at Yeagers today. He told me that the store is okay with OC as long as it stays in the holster (unless necessary) and as long as its not being serviced there.

Cool. Yeager's is where I purchased my Ruger GP100 a couple of weeks ago. They're good people there in my opinion, they treated me very well when I made my purchase.

In fairness to all gun shops, let's consider the following:
ALL GUNS ARE LOADED ALL THE TIME.
OC or CC I am using 'that' firearm to protect myself. That is its primary purpose, nothing else. I do not intend to take it from its holster or fixed place for any other purpose other than to defend myself by FIRING the weapon. I NEVER show my weapon to someone who asks, that is not its purpose.
Therefore, I have no problem following a policy that asks me to keep my firearm in it's holster why in their private place of business.
If I come in shopping for an accessory for a firearm I would bring that gun in seperate to my OC or CC. Action open (perhaps a ziptie to hold it open) bring it straight to the counter and ask for assistance in said accessory. (Mind you my OC or CC firearm would be holstered at all times)
I am as uncomfortable as any gunshop owner when someone I do not know begins to handle their firearm without 'range' type rules in effect. Therefore, I respect any proprieter that asks that handling of firearms is on their terms. I would suggest that shops that totally ban loaded firearms in holsters need to be educated.

Capital Mall {Westfield-owned Mall} (625 Black Lake Blvd.) - Olympia (due to this thread)
Where is that thread? When I click the link, it dead-ends.

It looks to me like the links have errors in them. I found double addresses in alot of the links and threads. If you look at the address bar after it gives you the error, look for anything thats in there twice. Remove the duplicate and see what happens. Also, make sure that the address ends with (.html).

McDonalds
Downtown Tacoma, WA
9th St. and Tacoma Ave
General Manager asked me to leave after I bought my food, used the restroom and sat down and had already gotten halfway through my burger.
I was legally carrying two pistols (I have a CPL), only one of which could be seen in the small of my back.
I simply asked for a To Go bag and got up and left.
I promptly called to talk with management and told the manager they lost my business since they would rather cater to drunken, homeless, cracked-out transients than law abiding citizens who spend money in their store every week.
There's nothing posted stating No Weapons, even though management said that was their policy.

Welcome to OC, remember McDonalds is a franchise so different owners/managers might feel differently. What was the managers position? when you talked to him. You can always call or write the owner too.

The Manager said since the gun was visible, I wasn't allowed to be in the restaurant.
I've eaten at this location many times before while I was open carrying. This is the only time where I've had a problem.

Go into the mall via the food court, use the entrance closest to Big5. Inside the first set of doors, to the left is the "Code of Conduct", near the bottom it says "No Firearms." Just CC there if you want to, you still aren't breaking any laws.Last edited on Sun Nov 15th, 2009 07:34 pm by tyguy808
