Their are a allot of people here that CC......but cant seem to understand why anyone would OC. To witch I reply "Because OC is allot easier than fumbling around in your clothing trying to draw your piece. Well ya know maybe if you ask the bad guy to [Wait.....hold on let me find my gun first....................................................................................................................ok go]Then maybe CC will work" but that is just my opinion. I suppose all I can do is explain myself and be polite then maybe they will come around. |

We don't care how you carry, only that you are interested and willing to accept responsiblity for your own and your family's safety. Shouldn't be too hard for you to find out regarding OC laws there though. Remember if no staute forbides it, it is legal. Yata hey |

After reading the laws, and talking to others, it seems I can carry anywhere that is not stated i cannot.... OC i am still not sure. Some people may freak when they see a big revolver on my hip |

I am not even sure where I can and cant. Nah, North Dakota is pretty calm about it. My first permit was from North Dakota, when I was 18, and I made many trips out there. It's not Wyoming-level lack of scrutiny, but in general nobody will care. CC is the same as OC in the eyes of North Dakota law; you need a permit to do either and the restrictions on both are identical. |

Seems to me that summers tended to get pretty hot and muggy. That would seem to be reason enough to OC. I've spent so many years on the wet side of WA that I have to get the moss scraped off my back. There's only about three months out of the year that I OC because it's just too cold. But then I'm a scrawny runt. |

Me again here. I still have not heard much on the actual rules of OC. So I have not done it. I do not want to be walking around the grocery store, then have a bunch of officers come up to me.... Maybe I should email the Sheriff?4 |

So yes, other DO have guns and I know quite a few CC'rs personally.....so I'm just guess'n ....but it looks like we're doing a good job about not letting the "sheeple" get upset about what they don't understand.... Most here in Minot, are from rural areas (myself included), and probably wouldn't freek about seeing somebody carry either OC or CC...........but then it only takes ONE....to make a public display and ruin the day for everybody. Personally I'm more than a little nervous about OC in broad daylight right now unless I'm either home, or surrounded by others/friends on personal property: ie: farm or BFN. The general public has been beaten to-death by mass media and politicians with the attitude that guns are bad...especially handguns - rifles due to the hunting here.. not so much. I'm all for OC, and what it represents. But unfortunately, the sheeple are slow to comprehend So stay armed...stay safe.. and shhhh......let the sheeple carry on about their daily business in blissfull ignorance...... |

One more for CC. Never open carried, I'll echo a few others who've posted already that I'm fuzzy on where you can and can't go with a six-gun openly displayed. Also there's the rule about not OCing after sundown. I'm an Air Force member stationed at Grand Forks, so usually the only time I carry is when me and the wifey head downtown. (Carry of any sort on base is largely unnecessary and illegal) |

BTW, anyone know of any firing ranges near the Grand Forks area? There's supposed to be a real great one opening in Fargo soon, but pickings are slim round here and gas prices don't exactly make the trip easy on the ol' pocketbook. |

I have to believe that the reaction to OC in ND is the same as Michigan, not much happens. If it's legal try and find out what doesn't happen. |

You're in ND, just head out of town and make your own somewhere! Pick up your trash and most people won't care. BTW, I'll be an OC'er when I make it back. |

How many OC'rs in ND? All or few depending on the situation. Yes for hunting and in the car if you have a CW permit. See ND code 62.1-02-10 (3). In regards to day and night hours, day if unloaded and night if it is secured and that means cased. See ND code 62.1-03-01. You can get all of the laws from the Sheriff' Office or from the web. If you have a permit than you should have received it before testing. Do your own research and don't take anyone's word for it. There are fines and jail time for being wrong. So why OC? Because you can or because it may be a deterrent. But you may also be the first target without the advantage of surprise. PS: there was a mall shooting and a church shooting today. Carry when and where you can. Last edited on Sat Nov 29th, 2008 02:25 am by bwhntng |

Carry when and where you can. Welcome aboard OCDO. Please do not perpetuate this "first target" urban myth - there are no studies to support it and reams of anecdotal evidence to the contary. Would you not rather deter a violent encounter via the BG seeing the potential instrument of his pain and withdrwing - or would you rather be far behind the response curve when he gets the drop on you as an apparently defensiveless victim? It does work to our advantage in spite of what others suggest from time to time. For years I have asked for one documented modern case of a preemptive strike against an OCer anywhere in the fifty states. To date, I have been shown none. If somebody does find one, that will only support my argument that such are indeed extremely rare. It is best to cite links when reporting the likes of "mall shooting and church shooting today." Point taken. Do you have evidence to the contrary? I would be interested in reading more about the topic. |

Sorry to be so long - watched topic did not reply. http://www.pulpless.com/gunclock/stats.html will get you started and follow the referenced links for more. Also goggle "Gun Facts" for a real in depth read - new addition out, 5.0 I think. Yata hey Edit: Don't know why the linky thingy above doesn't work - copy and pasting to your browser does work - go figure. Last edited on Sun Jan 4th, 2009 08:45 pm by Grapeshot |
